"it'd have been hell in here"? Really? Who would post that? The half-dozen 360 fanboys still left on N4G?
The population breakdown right now is something like:
Wii fanboys - 1%
360 fanboys - 4%
Gamers - 25%
PS3 fanboys - 70%
See, and that's the big problem with fanboys in gaming.
"The only thing that matters is console A outsold console B" is a complete load of crap.
The ONLY thing that matters in gaming is HAVING FUN PLAYING GAMES.
I hate all these number-comparison eD***-waving contests.
Oh, I know, I'm just saying what Microsoft will say.
Sony and Mirosoft rarely take the Nintendo figures into account when they decide to flex their corporate muscles.
Why? Because comparing their numbers to Nintendo's is too depressing for them, I imagine.
@4.3
SC IV did sell more for the 360 than the PS3 (218.9k vs 155.8k), though I think there are so many more 360 owners than PS3 owners in North America that the percentage of PS3 owners ...
Patcher is just like VGChartz. I don't know why anyone takes either seriously anymore.
I may as well write a quick program that randomly chooses a monthly winner and submit a story about it.
"360 to outsell PS3", says Random Guessotron 3000.
"Random Guessotron 3000" is a statistical program that analyzes sales trends based on current and past console wars, as well as the general 'hype' for each console based on stats such as Go...
Is there anyone left in the gaming community who still takes VGChartz seriously?
"We sold more software."
Why did you have to bring Sony into this? Seriously?
Not everything is about the console war.
Nintendo should've told their 3rd party devs. End of story.
My favorite age of gaming is still the SNES-era. Both the console games and PC games during that timeframe were spectacular.
To me, the SNES will always be the greatest console because it has the highest concentration of my Favorite Games Evar.
I know many people here at N4G that you could say that about if you just replaced "Microsoft" with "Sony".
Why is it okay when it's Sony that people have a hardcore loyalty too?
PoG is wrong. LBP looks amazing. But I think XNA does too, for different reasons. And, in the long-run, probably has more potential.
But to single PoG out as some blind fanboy in a site full of blind fanboys is a bit hypocritical. Just because this...
While I agree the LBP looks amazing, I don't agree that LBP > User Games.
As a developer myself, I think the XNA thing is an awesome way for potential game developers to get their stuff out there without paying a huge fee to a publisher or needing a small army of developers.
The pontential behind all of the user games is just so extraordinary, I'm not sure how a single game with a even a huge variety of customizable content can match.
Wow, that just shows how blatantly bias the original article was. Shocking that it got approved on N4G despite that. Absolutely shocking. Who would have thought negative 360 news would pass the approval process so quickly?
For those too lazy to click:
"They didn't try to dictate the game design, as many publishers might -- they were very hands-off there, and what is in the final game is exactly what I wanted to put there."
"They a...
I would love to hear what these requirements are, other than the size.
That being said, the size limitation sucks and needs to go. Especially as near the age of full-game installs on the HD.
Why do certain Sony fans feel the need to type out PS3 as "PLAYSTATION®3" ? Don't they realize it just makes their post sound like a Sony advertisement?
Not trying to single out Sony fans here, but I've never seen Nintendo or Microsoft fans do the equivalent.
XNA would like to have a word with you.
And...we have a winner!
No one will outright "win" or "lose" this generation, I don't think. All of the big three will certainly release consoles for the next generation, hopefully all of them learning from the mistakes of this generation:
1. From Microsoft: Don't rush a poorly tested console to the market. Include a hard drive on ALL VERSIONS of your console.
2. From Sony: Console price points $500 and above are bad.
...
That's an incredibly subjective thing, then. Someone could argue they prefer more of the XBox exclusives (as few as there were) last generation to the PS2 exclusives and thus the XBox "won" last generation, but no one says that. Everyone says the PS2 "won" - and it did.
Why?
Sales. Because sales are the only things that aren't subjective. You can pretend that the system with the "most quality" games wins the console war, if you...
If you think the "hardcore" companies like Microsoft and Sony aren't paying very, very close attention to the Wii's success just because it's "for casuals", then you're incredibly mistaken.
People can close their eyes and kick and scream all they want about how the Wii isn't a "real gamer's" console, but it doesn't change the fact that it will quite likely have the greatest impact on the future of gaming than any of the 3 consoles of this generatio...
At the time, it made a lot of sense to NOT include an HD-DVD drive in the 360.
It's easy NOW to point and say LOOK, LOOK, THEY TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE, but think about it:
When the PS3 came out at the end of '06, it cost $500-$600, and a large part of that price was the super-expensive Blu-ray drive.
The 360 came out at the end of '05. How much MORE do you think an HD-DVD drive would've cost back then? The 360 would've been at LEAST $600. And at tha...
GTA4 sold more for the PS3 than SC4? Is that because of a declining interest in SC4 or a reserge in the interest in GTA4?
Oh come on. Seriously? You expect Microsoft to put a Blu-Ray drive in the 360 almost halfway through its potential lifespan?
Do you need me to go into all the ways that's a bad idea for Microsoft?
How about just this one:
They need to keep the pricer lower than the PS3 to have any chance of holding off Sony in North America for 2 or 3 more years. Blu-Ray drives will NOT keep the price lower.
