Really?

So I can't play FEAR 2, Street Fighter 4, Star Ocean, Halo Wars, HAWX, Resident Evil 5, Red Faction, Halo 3: ODST, Mafia 2, Dragon Age: Origins, or Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 on the 360? Because I was fairly sure I could.

Oh right, I forgot, certain people only care about exclusives and like to pretend multiplatform games don't exist.

I hate to just sit here and list games, but if you're going to make smart-ass remarks with no basis in reality,...

No, price is not the only thing keeping the 360 ahead.

While the 360 could obviously use more exclusives, it does not need them as much as the PS3 does.

Why? Because, as sales have shown, the 360 is dominating the multiplatform releases. This means two things:

1. Software companies will continue to release games for the 360 as long as it's profitable.
2. People will continue to buy the 360 because a large number of games are available for both it...

You know, the sad thing is that even if it were only 2 hours for $10 (which it sounds like it isn't), that'd be about par for the course for modern games.

$10 * 6 = $60.
2 hours * 6 = 12 hours.

Sounds about right. How depressing.

As a proud 360 owner, even I have to admit that the RRoD fiasco was a disgrace to Microsoft and an insult to gamers.

That being said, this new "E 74" hype seems to be just that - hype. My guess is that due to the (completely deserved) negative media attention Microsoft got for the RRoD, people are over-examining every hardware issue that crops up. It's Microsoft's own fault, but right now I take the media's reporting of this "E 74" thing with a grain of salt...

Just be happy that we finally have a technologically competent president who understands how fancy-schmancy things like the "internet" and "e-mail" work, and who understands why net neutrality must be protected.

You seem to have accidentally posted in the Gamer Zone. Don't worry, it happens.

Next time click that little "Open Zone" tab, post there, and stop making the rest of us 360 owners look bad.

Don't be ridiculous. Neither side is particularly worse, and neither side "started it".

Fanboys have existed since the days of Nintendo and Sega, if not before. If the internet was popular during the days of the SNES vs. Genesis, then the flame wars would've easily put the 360 vs. PS3 flame wars to shame.

Can you imagine a thread on N4G about Mortal Kombat on SNES/Genesis? "Ours has better graphics!" "Ours has blood and real fatalities!&q...

There is so much love in this thread that I simply must join in.

As I've said before, it doesn't matter what console you own or prefer - we're all gamers, and ridiculing or insulting someone just because they prefer one console over another - it doesn't matter WHICH console they prefer - is simply absurd.

Viva gamers!

@1.9:

Dude, seriously, you couldn't keep that crap out of this thread? I realize you're just a sad, bored little troll, but...

An interesting thing to keep in mind:

Best tech != Most longevity.

The PS1 and PS2 were not the most technologically advanced console of their generation, but they did last the longest. Why? Because of the games. Gamers follow the games, and in turn, software companies make games for the platform(s) with the most potential profit. It's a self-perpetuating cycle.

I'm not saying that this means the PS3 won't last 10 years, but just to remember that hav...

Sony's continued support of the PS2 is indeed quite impressive. Though, in some ways, it is also a necessity for them. With the PS3 selling at a loss, they need to have profitable hardware in order to fund development and manufacturing costs for the PS3.

"And that's exactly why I believe the 10-year life cycle matters more to hardware companies than consumers. For Sony and the rest, it matters because it gives them an opportunity to recoup their investments over the long-term."

This is a pretty good point. Most people who are still buying PS2s are probably NOT hardcore gamers, and are either budget-gamers-only, or are replacing older PS2s with the newer, slimmer hardware. People more into gaming have certainly already...

I disagree with that quote, only in-so-much is that I'm not sure the casual audience - the kind who buys the $199 360 for their kids for Christmas - is going to jump online to compare features. They're just going to see the initial lower price tag.

You might want to consider moving your posts to the Open Zone, if you're going to insult every PS3 owner in existence.

It doesn't help that your post is a load of crap with no basis in reality. Look, there are definitely reasons to choose a 360 over a PS3. But yours? Not even close to one of them.

Seconded, thirded, an even fourthed, just for good measure.

As I said in a post earlier in the thread, some people would rather pay a premium now, others would rather pay a bit more over time but pay less upfront.

There's nothing inherently right or wrong about either approach, no matter what 360 and PS3 fanboys may want everyone to think. It's just a matter of how people want to manage their finances.

For me, the $4.16 a month for XBL is a drop in the bucket. And - as I've explained in previous posts - I believe that money...

It's not just a "usual reply" - for many people, it's true.

Some people will want everything the PS3 does, and for them, the PS3 is the best choice price-wise.

Other people only want to play single player games or local multiplayer with friends, and may not care about Blu-Ray right now. For them, all they really need is what the basic 360 offers.

I don't think either approach is right or wrong. I do think Microsoft overcharges for a lot of th...

Nope, I don't think so. Closest it has come per Wikipedia is XBox 360 game of the year, which is not the same.

I highly doubt it. How many hits do you really think IGN would lose if they chose an exclusive game? Maybe a couple of hundred annoyed fanboys at most?

I haven't played MGS4, but your opinion that it's "inspiring" is just that - an opinion. Some people find the story to be a convoluted mess, or don't like the long cut-scenes, and that is well within their right.

Too many people here state that MGS4 is perfection like it's some sort of undeniable fact.

6244d ago 9 agree6 disagreeView comment

I can't speak for Resistance 2 or MGS4, but I enjoyed Fallout 3 a lot more than SSBB.
