I've previously stated that every Nintendo Direct is like a mini E3 presentation. Well, this one was no exception, aside from the fact you can take out the word "mini".
Just the 3DS announcements:
- New console release date
- Two collector versions of new console
- Localization of multiple retail games
- There's plenty more but I'm worn out from listing so much
Best part of this Nintendo Direct...
Do you really believe any eShop games will be transferred to the next generation or even made available by pirates? Not a chance.
The only digital games that are transferred/reproduced to the next gen are major physical releases, and only non-licensed ones at that, since licensed ones cost extra to reproduce. So basically only big 1st party games from this generation are available digitally on the next generations of consoles.
But when it comes to physical ...
It's a lot better. It's not a whole new system. But it's a lot better. I only know about the New 3DS XL since that's the one I'm getting. The screen is a tiny bit sharper and the color is more vibrant. The 3D is a lot easier to see from different angles. There's the 2nd analog stick which will work on new games like Smash Bros. and Monster Hunter IV and also on older games that were compatible with the Circle Pad Pro like Resident Evil Revelations. There's a...
About damn time, Princey. Nothing like gaming on the go. With actual BUTTONS
Excellent. Exxxxxcellent
No one knows what this means. One thing is for sure, physical copies are a safer investment than digital ones. Which is why you should ask SEGA to bring that 3D Classic compilation for 3DS to the West.
I'd prefer if they made a game specifically for Amiibo's like the Skylander and Disney Infinity games.
One thing kills the 3DS version for me. I like the graphics. I like the mechanics, like how Tails can throw bombs like in Tails Adventure on Game Gear and how Knuckles can drill. The thing that kills it for me is that each character has a homing attack. I don't like Sonic to have a home attack, but I could live with it. But EVERY character has a homing attack? That's not even plausible let alone fun to play.
You have proof that you don't need Western-style games to sell a system in the West? Super Mario Bros. was made by Eastern developers but featured a white plumber. Purchased by a lot of white Westerners. Monster Hunter? Very Eastern-styled. I'm not just talking about the race of the main character. I'm talking about a style of gameplay that people in a region are used to. That's why Monster Hunter Tri on 3DS didn't even sell 1/5 as much in the West as it did in Japa...
The PSP had a full software lineup in its first 43 months. That means it had a continuous stream of 3rd party support for hardcore gamers and kids in America. It wasn't until the very end that PSP lost most of its 3rd party support. The 3DS is getting games from Eastern-styled developers because it's selling better in Japan. But there is nothing coming from 3rd party developers that typically make Western-styled games. Unless you consider games like Petz from Ubisoft, Monster Hun...
Muzi, true. But people are at least somewhat conscious about appearing brainless in person. Everything should just be settled in Smash.
Did I say the Wii U version is going to outsell Brawl or this version? Crystal clear example of online posters not using their brains before they post. How much better the world would be if everyone did! I said the Wii U version exists, and that it is probably the better version, if you don't value portability. Therefore, it will negatively affect the sales numbers of the 3DS version. Even so, Brawl probably sold around a million copies in the US in its first two days, based on somew...
Did Brawl have an arguably superior version releasing a month after it?
When one of last month's Media Create sales were released, someone on here commented: "I think Japan is just done with consoles. Their almost a completely casual market now."
I replied: "Say that again after the New 3DS & New 3DS XL & Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate release next week. Those numbers will be off the chartz. You're right in one sense. Home consoles are weakening in Japan. But handheld consoles like 3DS & Vita will continue to sell we...
I love Capcom. I'm not saying I love their business decisions or the way they treat their own series' or fanbase. But I love the games that they do come out with. The Resident Evil games on 3DS pushed the system like no other. But then again, E.X. Troopers for 3DS never got localized. Non-consumer friendly business decision. Mega Man? He'll be my #1 character in Smash Bros. But is he getting his own game anytime in the near future? There's another company that has mad...
Say that again after the New 3DS & New 3DS XL & Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate release next week. Those numbers will be off the chartz. You're right in one sense. Home consoles are weakening in Japan. But handheld consoles like 3DS & Vita will continue to sell well. The movement is toward gaming on the go, that includes handheld consoles.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is #1 on Amazon's best sellers list at the moment. I expect to see a boom for the 3DS in th...
I've been begging for SEGA for this. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come to the US.
The carnival sideshow atmosphere of LBP Vita was almost enough to get me to buy my 1st LBP game ever. But it wasn't quite enough. Throw Marvel into the mix and now I'm sold. Hoping this isn't one of those Vita games that comes to retail in Europe & not the US like Epic Mickey, PS Vita Pets, and Muppets Mayhem.
The 3DS version is fully 3D, possibly a port of the console version, as opposed to the side-scrolling spin off last time. Here's a link to gameplay vid:

You can debate about the quality of their products, but there's no debating that the format of Nintendo Directs itself is awesome.
