Ignoring the flamebait...
This was actually an interesting article that got me more interested in this game. I'd love to see some of the battle tracks that people will make. That was always my favorite part of Mario Kart. This game doesn't get enough credit for how much fun it'll be.
No new information. Move along...
I only ever played Halo games at friends' houses, so story wasn't very important at the time. It's interesting to see this. However, it's still very complicated, especially due to the short time constraint. I think after a couple more views, I may actually understand it though.
I loved the tongue-in-cheek humor in this though. Especially the end. Haha.
Seriously? 9.5 is a good score. Nay. A great score. I can't believe people are actually upset by this. Why don't you let this measly 9.5 actually ground your expectations a bit? If a 9.5 is too low for your expectations, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Believe me, I've been reading all the reviews. I know how easy it is to get carried away in the hype. But when I read "9.5", I thought "Oh yeah, it's just a game."
I don't care what your reasoning...
Don't forget Jak and Daxter too. Naughty Dog may not be a huge publishing house with multiple dev teams, but they are far from small. Anyone who has casually played video games knows Crash and probably knows Jak. Actually Crash is still probably better known than Uncharted, but it's hard to compete with old PlayStation memories.
But you're exaggerating things. I'd say it's more accurate to say ND CONTINUES to push PlayStation hardware.
You're also forgetting that tho...
@ReBurn
Yeah, because they're going to alienate 50 million customers. If digital-only is ever going to be the only option, it will be with the PSP2 or later. Sony's not getting rid of physical media during this generation, despite piracy.
Though, I assume, the PSP2 will still have physical media, they'll just put more thought into "piracy proofing" it. I know it's shocking, but there are a lot of people who don't have access to internet around the world. Th...
You lie! ;-)
Seriously though, if you haven't seen train footage from Uncharted 2, don't watch this. It shows a lot of train gameplay. However, I don't believe there's any spoilers in the audio. So you can just listen if you like. =)
Why doesn't the PS3's BMW have side-mirrors? O_o Check both the interior and exterior view, those things are MIA.
Environments look good, but car models look GT PSP level.
Does anyone actually do that fan test? I'm interested if it would be worth it.
My 80 Gb gets pretty loud and hot. It didn't use to. Nowhere near my 360's volume, but still loud enough to worry me. I'm interested in doing a fan test and then vacuuming like the article said. Good idea?
fanboy? check. ;-).
They're both great consoles. Just because you can make a list of strengths doesn't mean someone else can't make any equally long list for the PS3.
Enjoy both. And if you can't do that, then enjoy your console. You don't need to do Microsoft's marketing for them. The same goes to those who slam the 360.
"For the music. "
You pay for music? ;-). Seriously though, you must really like jamming out to Halo tunes.
Master Chief?
I realize that you acknowledged his absence, but that was still stupid.
I wish Bungie would have just named this Halo: ODST when they decided to make it full retail. I'm sure it will be great, but it's like they're clinging to the possibility of the "it's just an expansion!" excuse. But then again, it uses Halo 3 online. The whole thing is just one big mixed bag. Which I think is the point of this article.
Well I hope the Halo fan...
Yeah but who compares CGI? We should be comparing them to Pixar if we're going to talk about that.
I just think she meant that they're fully utilizing the SPU's. Things can still be improved through optimization. It could probably be programmed more efficiently, but the PS3 is cranking full speed ahead with the way they've done their programming.
If you listen to the context, this seems to be what she's implying.
Well, yes. I never get food from gas stations either, unless I'm in the middle of some kind of long trip. But my point was, have you ever heard someone COMPLAIN that gas stations offer food? A better example would have been super Wal-mart or super Target, but I digress.
However, I've seen some gas stations with Subway's in them, so it's not all crap.
Final Fantasy? Really?
Uncharted 2 looks better than GOW3 in my opinion.
If anyone's maxed out the PS3, it's Naughty Dog. No one's going to usurp them when they have the ICE Team. They're the ones coaching the other devs. Guerrilla Games maybe.
How isn't it news when a release date hasn't been announced?
If Lionhead Studios announced that they had a commercial for Fable 3 before they had announced any kind of release window, don't you think it would be news?
A commercial pretty much confirms a 2009 release.
$99 Wii would rock the world. Ironically, that's probably close to it's actual value AND it would put pressure on Sony's PS2.
A drop to $150 would also be a smart move, but it wouldn't have quite the same impact.
Nintendo has this gen in the bag. But at least people are mentioning the PS3 in the same sentence as the Wii. That's a good sign for Sony.
"* The shooting mechanics. While shooting is fun in UC, its no Gears. What he said was spot on regarding the enemy tactics, AI, and repetitiveness of the gun battles in UC."
Hahahahaha. Sorry. That made me laugh. Did we play the same Gears of War?
"All of the gun battles in UC1 started to feel like a big slog fest, with guys just crammed into the next little area, one after another. Once I was a headshot master, things got a lot easier and a bit more f...
