Are games not grand.

because they are 'difficult' games and because Nioh feeds off the Souls playbook they will be compared.

The one thing I'm surprised no has mentioned, at least I've yet to see, is how Nioh isn't an integrated, open world. One thing that makes the Souls games so incredible is their integrated world that opens as you progress. Every area in the game is connected making it one large map. In Nioh we go from mission to mission via a map. While it's still e...

Pretty sure only Gamestop requires that $5 paywall implied here.

Personally I live in an area where Walmart is my best and only option release day and they are shoddy at best. So for over the past decade I've relied on Amazon. As a Prime member I was ecstatic last year when they announced discounted pre-orders with the price applying to games w/in their first two weeks of release. I hear Best Buy is great and if there was one in town I'd possibly consider or use th...

that's my take. Sounds like typical install not an update. Also since it's not officially out there's likely no Patch currently available for the retail game. Seems like some stupidity and panties in knots over nothing. Typical street date broken misunderstandings and rubbish.

Amazon never pre authorizes any of my pre-orders. NEVER. Not for consoles or games so it surprises me the writer lumps Amazon in alongside the issue they're having with Target. Until a product is available and being readied to ship there should be no charge. When submitting an order the card is verified.

agree, and they can't market it as a handheld because of the 3/DS. They effectively brought a product to market that surpasses their own handheld and in not wanting to market it as such have created a very real issue. Take their full force and focus on Switch and they'd have a juggernaut. Instead we will likely see another console lacking in content and not completely embraced because the market is fragmented between DS and Switch users. 3rd party need not apply. Nintendo is a seconda...

The game itself is fine I think. Though the boss battles can be somewhat annoying; so far. They don't feel as gratifying as Souls bosses and seem far more spongy. Though using Amulets, Talismans and Living Blade do make taking them down much easier. Like how applying fire paper often/always made it easier in Souls games. Overall I honestly can't complain though. It is what it is and it's an incredibly enjoyable and solid game so far.

unfortunately, if you're my age or younger, in our lifetime we will likely see digital only at some point. However, until hard drives are big enough or the Cloud is utilized it makes no sense to move toward digital only. Even then, a lot of us who have grown on physical media appreciate having a copy to own. At the end of the day as much as even I say I'll play old consoles if digital only become a thing, well, I'll likely just embrace it because I love gaming and there will be pl...

Lol Absolutely not. Two completely different games that both have a place in gaming. The real question is how does Team Ninja restore Ninja Gaiden back to it's origins; NG 1-2/Sigma 1-2. I will say that having a Nioh/Souls type Ninja Gaiden could be extremely interesting though it's heart and core rests in hardcore action, not in stamina bars.

Remind me how big is the Switch storage is, 32 GB? Add DLC onto that now...

Personally I'm not a fan of DLC or Season Passes. Though there have been some exceptions. Destiny, which is often a joke (DLC) considering price and content but it's a great game and the DLC adds reason to come back. For Destiny, like an MMO it is necessary to have Season Passes/DLC. Bloodborne had some great DLC that came long after it's release. CD Projekt with Witcher 3 did an amazin...

Shady, No. Free Marketing Ploy? Absolutely. Nintendo knows by shorting inventory they make all news outlets free of charge. Giving them hype, free coverage and awareness of their new product. Most importantly is the hype because that peaks interest and makes it a must have item for consumer and scalpers.

really, I have no problem going and buying one if I wanted. Walmart constantly has 1-2 in stock and when 1 or 2 sell they're quick to replace those with new units on the shelf. If one wants one only needs to try.

there's a lot of foreign law that the US should implement. Unfortunately out Government gave up caring about us years before even I was born. Our own institutions established for consumer protection and citizen protection fail to do the right thing and instead work on their own agendas or side with corporate ones.

well, to be honest no game is perfect but when a game is solid there's no point making an entire story about what 'you' feel is wrong with it. to each their own and no game will completely satisfy every single player. Instead of going against the grain why not point out what is good. you know, something helpful to people not something petty.

I'm in the camp who feels the original was better than 2. That being said, obviously, 2 was still a fantastic game, as are they all.

that's actually the last Nintendo console I owned, rather own. I was thinking last night it would be nice to have some of those games re-released in HD. I kept the GC to play these games but it's so hard to go back in time playing standard def games unless it's NES, SNES or Genesis. Anyway, Nintendo already did Twilight Princess on Wii-U and Windwaker so those should be easy to bring to Switch. Double Dash, Mario Golf, Metroid Prime, Ikaruga, Smash Bros, Fire Emblem, even the Lege...

Doesn't Rockstars Fiscal year start in October? If I recall they're one of many companies with a fiscal year not coinciding with the calendar year. So if their fiscal year starts in October RDR2 would launch between Oct '17 and Sep '18. Fact is some companies Fiscal year starts in Oct, others in April while, likely most, coincide with the calendar year.

I don't think you can call Souls games or even Nioh Niche anymore. While it's not a game for casuals or all it's above what should be considered niche. I'd hate to go as far to call it mainstream but these games kind of are now.

As others have said, Demon's Souls was niche. So much so that a good portion of gamers who were interested actually ordered the English, Hong Kong version knowing that Sony would not publish it stateside. I did and I know many o...
