Are games not grand.

this is just part of the cycle. The last time it was sun-setting, and vaulting. Before that it was something or the other, but I don't remember. I quit playing when they vaulted/sunset which was an excuse to just remove myself from that game finally. The point is, Bungie has consistently f'd up, fans have consistently been t'd off about something or another. This was simply long overdo and part of the Destiny/Bungie cycle.

that's just it. idk about Ubi, but when other major publishers are raking in 3x the money from MTs than they do selling the f'n game itself.... it's absolute shit, but when something is making money from essentially nothing then these companies are going to slide this shit into their games.

the unfortunate reality is that simply does not apply strictly to this business, but all businesses today. These gluttonous pigs simply can not satiate their greedy appetite.

the problem are the incentives for these type of games when they do succeed. When companies are making 3x or more the money [quarterly] off MTs, Battle Passes, etc, than they do selling the actual games, they have every incentive to push this bs.

It's a model that can work for some games, but I think by and large this is something where a majority of gamers are fatigued because it's always the same ill conceived bs. Time grinds, hamster wheels, lack of content when...

@ OtterX - whichever way one looks at it, stating game of the century is a bit much.

Best game in 100 years? Ok, but games weren't even around 100 years ago. Best game of the 21st Century, ok, but we're not even 1/4 through that time period/century. Thing is this is very subjective so instead of simply giving the game a crown, why not simply state one of the greatest or phrase it more broadly. The game was great, it deserves credit, but it's simply silly to cha...

I feel like that would be a feature for the store, not the home page. Leave it to MS indeed.

guess this makes up my mind. I was thinking about ordering both, but since they're both sold out I'll happily keep my money. Yet the Special Edition game is in stock still, wtf, lol. $600 for the PS5 bundle, though, GTFO with that shit. They're definitely milking this Spiderman shit. Maybe I'll just go ahead and order a DS Edge from Colorware finally, instead.

I'll buy it digitally then whenever they do a physical I'll buy that too. Just hope the game is a classic, and is good as it looks. It's, yet again, a great time to be an RPGamer.

just because it is, your words, "better played online with others" does not mean that the game should always be online. When playing with others, obviously that requires connection. However, for the base game, there is no valid reason from a consumer standpoint to have always online.

From a preservationist standpoint this tactic is a means to ensure the game is done when the developer/publisher say it's done, by pulling online services rendering the entire ga...

send me one while you're at it. I mean what's better than Whiskey and Persona? A cigar with the two, and that would be perfection personified.

people are not dying younger these days. We are living longer, much, much longer. The average life expectancy when the Constitution of the USA was written was 38 years, for a white male, opposed to nearly 80 years today. The fact is that for thousands of years people have and will die young. With modern medicine we are living longer.

Having said that the only reason I'm aware I have a heart condition is because of a hiccup prior to a procedure. If not for that last vit...

Tales of Arise says otherwise. Far as I'm concerned Tales of Arise and XVI are brothers. To each their own, call it what you like, but in it's DNA XVI is very much an Action RPG.

I mean, that lines up with TGS so I'd definitely expect a PS showcase around Sep. If for nothing else to cover some of what was at TGS along with showing off games expected to release early '24. Anyway if they are on pace for Q1 '24 then I expect a big presence w/ a lot shown at TGS along with it to appear in a PS Showcase. Afterall, all things considered that would only be logical, right.

Story, check. Side Quests including those of the fetch variety, check. Weapons, gear, trinkets/talismans, check. Hunt Board, check. Treasure chests, check. Crafting, half check. It's checking all the boxes I'd expect from a RPG.

I don't know what it was, but tonight I felt that XVI feels a lot like Tales of Arise. Do I wish XVI had more RPG in it such as cooking, a better crafting system, yes I do. I also wish it had better designed areas, and that there was an...

"you weren't forced to look"

Perhaps one of the most asinine or illogical things I've ever read. Kind of hard not to look when you come to this website and browse via, you know, reading the headlines. Are you suggesting they not come to N4G anymore because that's the only way to not look, right. I mean how else are you suppose to browse this site, by the thumbnail images.

@ lelo2play -

"For context, the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot sold 3.4 million copies during its release month of March 2013 at retail alone, across multiple platforms. Despite this, Square Enix claimed actually failed to reach sales targets for the month. The game went on to sell over 8.5 million copies by 2015. Rise of the Tomb Raider sold 1 million copies at launch as an Xbox One console exclusive, however by November 2017 (after the game had come to PlayStation 4) the ga...

are we really still comparing the purchase of a single f'n studio to an entire publisher? gtfo.

If MS wanted to buy Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer or whoever else works on CoD, no one would bat an eye.

996d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

@4Show - Publisher, Developer, two very, very different things. You simply can not compare the two. It's one thing to buy a developer which consists of a single studio, it's another to buy the publisher who holds dozens of studios. MS could have easily sought partnerships with studios, built working relationships, helped launch studios, created studios, etc. They chose to do nothing for two decades, and now that they're in a position of ultimate weakness because they didn't ha...

According to the last sentence in the preview, this is box sales only so hardly a surprise. A lot has changed between the release of XV and XVI in terms of digital vs physical. I could be mistaken but I believe the EU has adopted digital more than the US, and even then, digital is gaining traction everywhere... just a quick google search, 64% of all sales were digital in '22, down from 65% the year prior according to gameindustry.biz. I don't know what the numbers were when XV release...

A self inflicted loss. For over 2 decades they haven't cared about building a team of studios, creating IPs, and investing into the software side of the business. They should not be rewarded for their own failures.
