Are games not grand.

I Strongly Agree!! Gaming shouldn't be about the next greatest thing. ie: PS3/360 with their graphical, physics, etc capabilities. There's nothing wrong with a game like Dragon Quest VIII/Rogue Galaxy, Disgaea, Odin Sphere, or even Okami style game on the PS3 or 360. Every style and type of game should be represented. And just as important as the big mega titles like Bioshock, Killzone 2, Assassins Creed, are the games like Disgaea, Shin Megami Tensei, etc. These games should co-exist with th...

I'd be hard pressed to say one is absolutely better than another. Both have their merits and demerits about them. And when it comes to quantity lets not forget that the 360 has been out an entire year before the PS3. Not to mention it's not their fault the demos aren't getting up. Although it seems to be improving. All Sony really needs to do is continue to offer the demos, games, make a few tweaks w/ the XMB, and offer achievements. Other than that the only specific thing I'd change about th...

yeah, 10 out of 10 is a bit absurd unless you're a Halo fanboy. As gaming journalists they don't/shouldn't have the luxury of overrating a game because of their own personal interest. On no level, from a professional standpoint should any reviewer given Halo 10 out of 10. I can see 8-9.5 and anything under or over is simply unnecessary...

Certainly a solid game, but in no way is it perfect or great; at least not imo. Then again, simply based off it being an instant Classic oft...

from my understanding a lot of games actually come w/ a reviewers guide. So that's nothing new, despite Lair being the big criticized game for doing it.

As for sending a duffel bag full of gOOdies. Well that is borderline bribery in some sense, I guess. I mean you'd like to think that MS sent this out to reviewers as a token of gratitude. Or possibly so that reviewers take the time to also mention the additional Halo 3 stuff available. But just like anything else in the world ...

well, I was just at Walmart. Was going to see about getting Halo 3 tonight maybe. Didn't really want to [rather play Bioshock, Blue Dragon and Heavenly Sword atm], but decided to check out what was going on. Out of 35 copies they got in 9 had already been returned. The 10th return came in while I was there and they had one Limited Edition left. The guy shook the case, yep, it's probably scratched to, opened it up and sure as ... it was. So 11 of the 35 Limited Editions Walmart got in were scr...

the games are coming. And games DO in fact TIME. But the games are definitely here and more so, are coming.

Price is the key factor. We all know, well most of us know, that the main driving of any console is it's price. A majority of consumers don't buy a new console until it's priced at $150-200. Even at $250 it's a major driving factor in selling units. Not to say the PS3 isn't worth every penny they're asking but the price is simply to much for the average consumer and in a...

Lol, that's too funny. I broke down last night and bought a 20oz Halo Dew and that's the first thing I thought of. I felt like I was downing liquid gummy bears. I gave my girlfriend a drink and she said the exact same thing to. If I wanted a frekn Gummy Bear I'd buy a bag and down some regular ole' fashion mountain dew in the process...

Anyway I have to agree. Give me an individual or even a series of commercials but the drinks, cars, and anything else is just beyond what's su...

exactly... Virtua Fighter 5 is $40 Brand New for the PS3. You can easily find it for $20-30 used. So even w/ a download for online at $10 its still cheaper than the 360 version which will cost $60... It's still a hefty price to pay for an online mode, but overall the game w/ the download is still a very reasonable price to pay...

everyones entitled to their opinion and that's all reviews are. I haven't played Lair so I can't comment specifically. Personally, for quite some time I've felt the game will be good, average if you will. Just like any other dragon game because none seem to get it perfectly right. Anyway I do think he might have been a little to critical in his review. But again, it's not like I've played the game either. But him commenting about the dragon and how it doesn't move precisely leads me to believ...

you're assuming... unlike Spiderman 3 [hd-dvd] Transformers was planned to be released on Blu Ray. Mind you Spiderman 3 is also a film from Sony Pictures so it's a bad example. Anyway, yeah, big movies like Spiderman 3 and other movies geared toward the tech savvy and gamers should probably be on both formats for business reasons; obviously you can exclude any Sony Pictures film from this list, which mind you, would include Spider Man anyway. Then again, on second thought this is the movie in...

what pains me is that they can't release it on both formats. Obviously it's something Blu Ray owners will suck up. Just like 300. And it's obviously something Hd-Dvd owners will suck up. Isn't business about making money? And making the most possible? It's idiotic for Paramount to pull this move right before Transformers releases, and not release the movie on Blu Ray... I'm not one to rip, burn [never ever have], or download anything but this is one movie I will absolutely not buy, but likely...

Even with a firm street date NOT ALL retailers have games in stock on release day. Where I live all to often games aren't on shelves until Wed-Fri of that week. And in the case of smaller published titles like those of NIS, Atlus, and even some Capcom, Konami, etc games it takes even longer than that to get them on retail shelves often.

In general I think the distribution process and street dates for gaming is already broken enough. So why not ship the game for release wheneve...

why would Sony have to announce when the 80 GB will be available? It's just a PS3. Not a new system. Just a larger hard drive. And considering the 60 GB seems to be weeding out it's likely that the 80 GB will appear as needed. Meaning that once retailers sell out of the 60 GB the new inventory will become 80 GBs. And they did say it would be available in August. Well, it is August. either way I got a 160 GB PS3 so eh, who really cares...

and Play gave Lair a 9/10. I'm not to big on reviews in general and never base a decision about buying a game on them. But EGM has always been awful imho. They have deaf, dumb, blind, anal monkeys reviewing games and they never give credit where it's truly due... So this is certainly no surprise to me...

Obviously GI Joe, Thundercats and some others would be cool. Voltron could be if updated quite a bit. Plus imagine this, Kojima working on Voltron. Zone of Enders was a solid title. Picture using it as a base for Voltron... Danger Mouse though, I totally forgot about that cat, or mouse rather...

Indeed R6V was running in 1080p which is why it was hazy last night. The PS3 must have been upscaling it to 1080p. Maybe the game will upscale to 1080i or p. I don't know but in 1080p it didn't look nearly as good as it does in 720p which is it's native resolution. Anyway, going to settings and selecting only 480p and 720p took care of this problem. While 1080p didn't look half bad it was upscaled and a bit fuzzy, hazy, blurry. Where as, obviously, 720p is much more crisp and clear...

is presentation, graphics and lasting appeal. Ok, maybe not so much presentation but docking it so harshly for not having scenes rendered in HD? Anyway the graphics are easily beyond a 8. For starters we got 1080p, and full time self shadowing. Sorry but Virtua Fighter 5 got 8.5. Furthermore you really don't get any better than Sigmas graphics right now. They're certainly above and beyond a 8. Also lasing appeal. Boasting a 20+ hour single player experience isn't long enough for a action game...
