All the interest is currently with the PS4. Sony have really gained by announcing first. The next Xbox could be in trouble before we even know what it can do. I hope its more powerful than the rumours claim. I am a PC gamer and game developer and I don't want it limiting multiplatform games. I know from using DirectX 11 that it is a great graphics API. I just hope the 720 makes use of it.

Nvidia simply stated fact. The PS4 gpu is weak compared with high end gpus today. High end graphics cards cost more than the PS4 itself and that's why the PS4 gpu is sufficiently weaker. Though PS4 is still a big leap over PS3.
I don't think Nvidia care about the lack of business. This have 75% of the market and AMD are over 100 million in debt.

Make no mistake, SE have extremely talented people working for them. Just look at their Luminous engine. At least they are doing FFX justice. SE's problem is their business strategy. They have nearly ruined the FF series by changing the formula to one that they think appeals to a western audience. Instead, they are destroying the series. This and Versus XIII is a chance to redeem themselves with FF fans and hopefully A Realm Reborn turns out to be good also.
Naughty Dog are an excellent developer. Its just a pity they're owned by Sony and not independent. It would be better if more people could experience their games. I'd prefer if all games used the Open GL graphics API and were open source and available for open source operating systems such as Linux. As a hobbyist developer, I only use DirectX 11 over Open GL because there is better driver support for it.

The problem with the Steambox is it cannot run DirectX 11. Though I'd love if Valve worked on Open GL. If Open GL got more driver support and all pc games were avilable for linux, the Steambox would blow away the competition. Simply because, you cannot beat Linux. You cannot beat the power of open source!
Windows 7 64 bit uses 2gb ram so I can't see PS4 os taking up more than 1gb but will probably be less than 1gb or there is serious inefficient coding.

PS4 is low-mid end PC. From the rumours Durango looks low-end but I hope I'm wrong. PS4 is powerful enough for it to be a big leap over last gen and that's all that matters. Its not about how powerful a console is compared to PC, its about powerful hardware that's affordable to the masses.

Destruction makes for collision detection more expensive because you have to keep recalculating bounding volumes at run time instead of just doing it once and loading the volumes from memory. Usually aabb trees are used for this because they're easier to compute. Add physics calculations on top of that and then you realize why its next gen.
