(Hopefully not a repeat of last year)
I am on the fence with this title. The title seems to have gotten mixed reviews, but I am a graphics whore and would love to see them first hand.
I would rather them take the time to polish up the game for a December release than try to get it out the door in July or August. Extra few months could make the gameplay match these stunning graphics.
I was hoping for much more after all the hype. These screens look about average. Definitely not the Gears killer it was hyped up to be (graphically).
This game is coming along nicely. Let's hope for a demoto try out the gameplay.
I have both. I initially thought PSN is great for being free, then I compare to Xbox Live silver. Besides multiplayer, even a silver account trumps PSN right now. Comparing multiplayer over the two, I would say they are about equal. That is the only benefit of the PSN. If Sony starts to charge for their network and I am forced to choose only one, damn right it will be Xbox Live.

Did no one read OXM last month? They were playing an almost complete version on the 360. Why would Midway sit on a finished title and loose money?
They also said the 360 sets the graphics bar for the high end PC's.
but will they be in 5 years? 360 and PS3 graphics will only get better with time, but there is not much room for improvement with the Wii. Do any of you currently play the precious generation (PS1, N64)? Would you continue to purchase games for those systems compared to the graphics capability of the maxed out PS2 and Xbox?
Wii is OK right now, but will age about as good as a Kia.
Lack of arrogance indicates fear on Sony's part. Maybe they realize the format war cannot be secured through a video game system. Coupled with the fact HD-DVD set top players outsell Blu-Ray set yop players 4 to 1 (or more by now) they are worried. A $500 Blu-Ray player is still too expensive compared to a potential $200 HD-DVD player.
This screenshot looks mighty fine to me.
And Sony is the underdog this time.
I must say, this announcement is not what I expected. Not as big of a let-down as last weeks Pac Man 360 though. I am sure it's a little taste to get us wet for E3.

I was one of the few and the brave who owned a 3DO (I got it used for really cheap). This title was revolutionary for the time, having Sylvester Stallone film additional footage just for the 3DO version. Demolition Man incoporated on-rail shooting, driving, and fighting in one game in a stellar presentation. A jem if you ever had the chance to play it, and one of the few reasons to show your 3DO to friends.

Agreed on the exclusivity argument. Games for Windows is a MS platform, just as the 360 is. Do you all consider games such as Ratchet and Clank to be PS exclusive? There is R&C for the PS2, PSP, and soon the PS3. All Sony platforms and considered an exclusive.
I own both, and personally I prefer the media connection features on the 360. The music visualizer is also way better on the 360. You can load media on either machine, but why when the media is already on your PC? Ye...
Since when do Wii games retail for $59.99 (SW:FU)? And with the technology going in to this game (particle and animation engines)I doubt it could run on the Wii.
Looks like I will need a second job...to many must-haves this fall. I hope they carry the momentum through next year as well.
is lack of software. Looking at the release schedule, I will be waitng until September for the games I want to buy for the PS3. In fact, Resistance is the only PS3 game I own. I have been buying used PS2 games to get use out of my PS3. This reflects my taste in games, and may not be true for other PS3 owners. Same goes for the Wii. Steering wheel is a must have if you want to play Forza 2. Feedback is good with the battery pack, but plug it in the wall to feel the "wheel be ripped out of your hands" feedback that makes playing with a controller obsolete. It is a hefty investment, but the optimum way to play 360 driving games.
On the subject of this port. Yes, these are 2 different consoles, But bthey run on the same Unreal engine. After all the praise from Epic with regards to the Unreal engin...
Stand alone player sales will dictate the format war, not video game machines. HD-DVD outsells Blu-Ray players 5 to 1. HD-DVD will co-exist or win this format war. Blockbuster was premature with their decision and will regret it later.
