You can earn sabbatical due to years of service. Generally speaking, people who take sabbaticals are expected to return to their positions.
The player retention of Gears 5 maybe lower than what was seen in Gears 4. Microsoft looks at engagement as the key metric for a game success. Gears 5 received a lot of community (and some professional) criticism over its progression system. Phil Spencer, was even indirectly critical of the progression system of Gears 5.
I feel both the Rob Ferguson and Ryan Cleven where either let go or left the Coalition due to the community response towards the game’s progression system...
Saying Doom is the video game version of Alien is an extreme stretch....the two franchises aren’t that similar.
I think the old school arena shooters would have had a significant, but not huge resurgence had Doom (2016)’s multiplayer been more impressive. Doom (2016) would have benefited from old school arena style multiplayer in my opinion. Doom (2016) sold well and it could have been the title to reignite the old school arena shooter genre.
Valve reminds me a perfectionist that discards and throws out quality work due to minor perceived flaws.
I have yet to finish my ultra violence play-through of Doom Eternal. I currently feel Doom (2016) is the better paced game. I have a few gripes with the platforming, and several other environmental mechanics in Doom Eternal. After, I enjoy Eternal’s combat more than its predecessor; but so far I think Doom (2016) has better levels.
I also like Doom (2016)’s art style more. It was less colourful and a bit more realistic. Doom Eternal, is more heavily stylized, if not carto...
I don’t understand why Valve didn’t just make an iterative game. Not every sequel has to be revolutionary. If Half-Life 3 built off Half-Life 2 and was well made, it would have bern well received and successful.
I am going to disagree with you about the story of the new doom games being garbage. The directly presented story is nothing special. However, there is a lot of interesting background lore.
Also, I agree with you about the demons looking rather cartoony. Doom Eternal is pretty cartoony looking. And some of the demons, notably the Mancubus and Arachnotron aren’t visually convincing.
I personally in hindsight found Doom 3 to be slow and not scary after th...
I meant Walmart isn’t required*
GameStop stayed up because one of their biggest competitors, Walmart is required to close. Walmart officers essential goods (foods, toiletries, etc.) in addition to video games. Thus, Walmart can stay open as they sell things people need.
There are several unsubstantiated, but realistic rumours of Microsoft rebooting Perfect Dark. Some say the Initiative is developing a Perfect Dark reboot, while other rumours pointed to the Coalition as a potential developer.
That sounds just like the Xbox One/PS4 situation. Similar, if not the same graphics, with different AA and resolution.
I’m surprised the PS5 isn’t fully backwards compatible with the PS4.
Perfect Dark is essentially built off of Goldeneye 007 and it was developed by the same company, so it should be better. However, in-terms of legacy, if we were to rank the greatest first person shooters of all time Goldeneye 007 should be ranked above Perfect Dark. Perfect Dark is more refined, but Goldeneye is the more influential title.
Since when have launch games used the full potential of a console’s hardware ?
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is one of those“what in the hell were you thinking man “ type of games. It’s not what fans wanted or expected. And it seems to have become vapourware.
Or maybe Bethesda should have actually tried hard, rather than just modding Fallout 4.
Some of the YouTubers I watch notably Skill Up and ACG liked what they’ve of Bleeding Edge. However, I think the character designs could of been significantly less radical and bizarre.
Human eyes can’t see at anywhere near 1000 FPS.
Microsoft and Sony are offering backwards compatibility. Nintendo is the company that has been selling full priced ports.
