I’m in Canada too. Due to all subscriptions going up, I’m become more-and-more conservative in terms of entertainment spending. But’ I’m also becoming apathetic to paying for subscriptions. Since despite getting an education and good salary, the cost of living just keeps going up-and-up-and-up.
I’m on the fence as whether or not I should get a switch 2. I game less-and-less due to prices, and fatigue from work. Metroid Prime 3, honestly looks like it could have been made 10-15 years ago. Sure the Switch 2 has 4k resolution, but the hardware hasn’t shown anything wows me.
I think Microsoft wants to use UE5 due to their reliance on term limited contractors. UE is an engine that contractors are generally familiar with.
I don’t think there would be strong backlash. I would be willing to part with COD, EA access and Ubisoft titles and even streaming if my subscription stayed the same.
Take COD out of Gamepass as a day one title. I feel that COD is big factor in increasing the subscription price of GP Ultimate.
All military shooters should have an immersion filter. Allow players the option to filter out over top skins by replacing them with a default skins.
No, in Kraftons statements they refer to “rights to” the IP not “ownership of” of Hi-Fi Rush.
Companies don’t generally readily sell off IPs. MS would have likely only granted Take two a license. Even when Microsoft sold Tango Games, they kept most of the IPs, and did not fully sell off the Hi-Fi Rush IP to Krafton.
Not to offend anyone. But what was Rare doing with Everwild for so many years? Development began in 2014, with a reveal in 2019. From 2019 onwards nothing was about the game.
This doesn’t explain the massive layoffs, a studio closure and several game cancellations. The Xbox’s console sales revenue dropped, but game sales and subscriptions make up the bulk of revenue and profits. I don’t understand this CEO, the company as whole has grown, so he cut 1000s of jobs. Maybe he needs a new mansion and bigger yacht?
I didn’t touch Splitgate 2. I did play the first Splitgate for maybe 10hrs. The game felt like it lacked its own identity. Even with the portal mechanics, the bland weapons, art and maps, made the game come of as a wannabe, less refined Halo.
Publishers need to be more accepting of lower profit margins, slower growth and potential stagnation. Games are a luxury. Raising prices will eventually isolate more-and-more gamers from buying new releases and paying for subscriptions.

I don’t know. However, I would assume around 10 million. All the Halo FPS titles have done around 10 million sales, except ODST. Halo 3, was reported to exceed 14 million copies. I still remember back in 2007-2008, Halo 3 and COD 4 would duke it out for the most played XBL game.
There were reports that Halo 4 and Halo 5 had similar sales to Halo: Reach years ago. The clickbait websites and rage bait YouTubers from 2012-2016 just wanted to spread excessive negativity about the franchise for their own benefit.
The first Splitgate had good core mechanics but lacked an identity. The guns were bland. It overall felt like a less polished, less immersive Halo with portals.
I played Black Ops 6 and MW 2 (2023) for over 100 hrs each. But, I checked out once the skins got too goofy. It also annoying that some skins are blatantly harder or easier to see regardless of distance.
Management at the initiative always reported to be rocky. I’d wonder if the partnership with the Crystal Dynamics was inefficient, leading to the project being canceled.
It is rather embarrassing for MS to cancel Perfect Dark after Phil Spencer himself pushed for a reboot. MS as whole was profitable, yet that wasn’t enough as executives want higher-and-higher profit margins. Keep cutting jobs and canceling projects so executives can buy more unneeded sports cars and inflate their net worths!
I think progression of the project was a concern. I’m not sure Crystal Dynamics was the right studio to sign as a co-developer, as they had other projects.
