I think the cancellation, has to due with Platinum games stretching themselves too thin. Platinum has slightly less than 200 employees, yet from 2014 onward, the company made Bayonetta 2 (which reviewed well), and the mixed to poorly received Legend of Korra, Mutants in Manhattan, Star Fox Zero/ Guard, and Transformers Devastation. Additionally, Platinum games was working on two big RPGs Scalebound and Nier, while working on the smaller projects, which is insane.
Edit: I th...
The Phantom Dust reboot was cancelled very early in development and was recently (last year), replaced by a Phantom Dust Remaster.
I'm hoping this game was cancelled due to internal development issues. I hope MS talk about games this E3, like they did in 2014 and 2015. Show new IPs, show gameplay, don't waste my time gloating about an upgrade console, that likely won't be of much use to myself, since I lack a 4k TV and have no interest in VR.
The studios output was ridiculous, and it was clear that this hurt the production of several of their games.
To be fair Hideki does have a notorious temper, clearly evident by his twitter rants, when something doesn't go his way.
This was very unexpected. It seems Microsoft as much as they state they want to invest into new IPs, aren't very confident in them. I'm convinced the Microsoft doesn't have much confidence in them. ReCore had a meager a budget, that hurt it's development. Quantum Break got a certainly forced quick Windows 10 port, that likely negatively affected both versions of the game.
Scalebound gets cancelled after 3 years of work, likely because it needed another dela...
There was one over Tracer's butt, and she doesn't even have that much junk in the trunk.
I too, personally enjoyed Rise of the Tomber, and Tomb Raider (2013) more than Uncharted 1,3 & 4, but not 2.
Split screen in Reach and Halo 4 ran like crap.
The Halo community, is currently one of the worst on the internet, complaining about everything for months and months.
How exactly is the mp boring ?
I think this game should have a Definitive edition, or get bundled with Ori, to help it sell. I wanted to purchase this after enjoying my trial of the game, but these Canadian game prices......
Staff can't really transfer to other in house MS studios to make new IPs. Of MS big studios, 343i, The Coalition, Turn 10 and Rare, only Rare isn't locked to one IP.
343i has the staff to work on two projects, which they sort of already do. However, it seems one team works on mainline Halo games, while the other works on remasters, side games (like Spartan Assault) and assists on larger projects (Hence Halo Wars 2). The second 343i team should be given creative freedom, and allowed to work on new IPs (or bring back old ones like Perfect Dark). 343i with Rare would be great for Perfect Dark, a franchise that was discussed several times by Phil Spencer and...
This was my personal 'game of the generation' last gen, would highly recommend it.
I agree with you. The studio should be allowed to work on non-Halo projects, maybe Perfect Dark or a new IP.
Match making time depends on the game and mode selected. Halo 3 slayer matches much faster than the less popular Halo 2A and CE for example. The game isn't broken.
I am not aware of a sales crash. I heard physical sales were down in the UK, but digital sales were up http://www.mcvuk.com/news/r...
I found BF1 campaign to be an utter joke for the most part. The campaign felt like a bunch of tutorials . The enemy ai is awful, campaign levels are often just conquest maps with enemies and objects placed in them. In some of the war stories you play on the same map multiple times, except instead of being on foot you're in a tank, or the time of day has changed. At least most of the war stories had some interesting characters and settings, but it never gave me that dramatic war story feel...
@ sd11 It is pretty apparent that windows 10 version of the game are forced. Windows has never relied on games to sell.
