I try my best to respect others and comment from a logical standpoint not limited to brand bias.

The worst are the types that try to make others look stupid. If you don't agree then it's simple to tell others why. It get's bad when it becomes personal and attacks aren't directed about the equipment but at each other.

I see it every day, when an argument get's heated instead of falling back on logic and well thought out reasoning people just start attacking the person they disagree with.

I see what your saying. I have to ask. If customers are being bullied into buying a console they don't want how can that not be successful?

I see it this way. If an exclusive game sells consoles that's a success. Remember games can be an addictive and expensive hobby. If console makers leverage exclusives to bring people into their console it takes away from the multi-platform market.

This generates profits not by game sales but hardware sales. It also increases the ...

The executives at Sunny would notice that JRPGs are worth the money to get as exclusive or timed exclusives.

The competition is using intelligent marketing moves when they buy exclusive rights or timed exclusives. Timed or not this approach is pressing the consumers into breaking their loyally. It's not like the customer has much choice to stay with the one brand if the games that interest them are elsewhere. High failure rate be damned if you can't find your favorite games. (RPG...

I also think it's be extreame stupidity to flat out remove blu-ray. Then again in my book I think it was stupid to remove PS2 compatibility. I never thought Sony would do that yet, low and behold no more consoles being developed with PS2 BC.

I also thought Square Enix would hold more loyalty to the PS brand but look at them now. Most of their games aren't multi.

Killzone 2 popularity.

The press is all woot woot about killzone, insert some FUD into the market to try and make consumers hold their cash for a possible price cut. Example, anti-hype a console or system seller game by making the customers think a big price cut is on the way.

This generation has some of the most dirty deceptive tactics I've ever seen to discourage customer growth. Sadly it seems Joe Public is eating it up.

The extra exclusive download content on one console is a method to drive up attach rate on multi-platform games. Every time a game is released with exclusive content on one console it forces the customer to decide if they plan on purchasing that optional content in the future.

If that content isn't available or exclusive it's hard to choose the limited version over an upgradable version if the user is a multi-console owner.

What does this have to do with your comment...

Controversy means media interest, having media interest means the product is more infamous or famous. In other words the controversy is free advertising.

"The slapping of high fives is also sounding throughout Microsoft HQ at the news Xbox 360 games constituted five of the top ten games for January, and that sales of 360 hardware were up 33% over January 2008, with 309,000 consoles sold."

Where have I seen 33% and Xbox 360 mentioned in the same line before?

Not a barbecue that is purely decoration.

From what I read it'll be timed exclusive at most. PS3 been getting a lot of sloppy seconds in the RPG department. Sony doesn't seem to want FF11 on the PS3 either because the guy SE was working with quit and they dropped it.

The 360 and PS2 versions making SE big money and looking at the just the US FFXI 360 install base gives them a lot of incentive.

Wada, pointed out one of his reasons (besides money) for making the first FF13 multi was comments from PS3 and 360 fans like: "WE got FFXII exclusive!" or "We're getting it mark my words!'

My take is when there are people begging about something such as as to "why?" or "Why not?" it just stirs the pot. The more we stir the pot the more likely it'll get extra seasonings and go multi.

Wada, probably laughing about it like he did when ...

They could make both versions custom upgradable if we want extra features.

The package deals are obviously to confuse people or force them to buy extra features they don't need. Look at it this way.

If you have Busyness, you get full backup but no media center.
If you get Premium you get media center but no full backup imaging.

What if you only want full backup imaging and media center with no drive encryption feature? Nope can't have that combo un...

It seems silly that your forced to install packages. Didn't they ever see Al la cart packages.

There should be a max of 3 versions.

Windows Starter <-- FREE OS with ability to upgrade.
Windows Custom <-- Only install the features you want!
Windows Ultimate <-- Everything.

The only thing they're doing with packages is like a PC maker installing 3rd party programs on the system. These SKU's are just another way to exploit the OS monopo...

"Windows 7 Starter (limited to three apps concurrently) "

"Didn't read the article (can't be bothered, but at least I admit it!), but if that isn't free, they've got another thing coming!"

It's probably so PC makers can pre-install windows 7 on PC's to save big money for licensing. This way when the user loads up the PC and finds this limitation the user has two options.

1. UPGRADE for $$$
2. Get a new FREE open source OS.

This is rare.

In this time the world's economy isn't the best, but they do this and it excites the industry to spend. Hope it'll be better then the previous boring E3's

I'm pretty sure the "games for windows" and DirectX code game design shortcuts into windows. These shortcuts use dev kits to make it easy to put on PC. They also allow the game unification.

I don't run games on my PC but I know there is a games explorer on it.

These windows games features could be sold to game developers on a royalty base. That means every time a developer decides to use the Games for windows features MS could charge them for the service sh...

Woah, seriously I think if EA didn't own valve they might have been another Factor 5.

If customers are signing your paychecks don't try and make them look like idiots for owning a console or wishful thinking. Like the OP said "21 million AND GROWING potential customers" It's like slapping those customers in the face when Valve says comments like this.

This reminds me of the feature in XP where you could load an admin account in safe mode to bypass all user account permissions. The ability to change the admin password by booting in safe mode allowed me to reset my nieces newly formatted XP system. Her dads friend was an FBI systems admin.

They formatted with everything nerfed so she couldn't install anything. In less then 30 seconds that admin account had the password changed and given to her so she could install itunes on her ...
