I've got 4 PS2's fats at this house only the initial launch model has caused problems. It's still running today though after being repaired 3 times. The other 2 have been run with a lot of wear. The one in my room as over 3 years on it. I'm not saying I've owned it for 3 years it's closer to 8 or 9 years. I'm saying it has a total of over 3 years of up time wear on it for over 26,280 hours, either playing or leaving out to sell items. This one system is the only one that's ever loaded the acc...

I think your right.. The Box is there as a showroom piece it might not come with the card. Like the game shelves at stores put up dummy empty boxes to let the customer know they have the game. This way the customers can look at the product boxes etc without running off with the goods. The actual cards would be behind a counter safely hidden away until a customer brings it up for purchase.

Whats the point of buying them online with a credit card if you can just attach a credit/debit card to the account to LIVE or PSN and purchase them directly.

No pun intended but aren't the cards there for people without credit cards or bank accounts? This way people can walk into a store cash on hand and buy wallet funds without owning a credit card or buying a prepaid debit card to access them?

I know a few teens that don't own a credit card or but have money to bu...

It's easier to see them on the shelves with the games while your looking then tucked away in a corner stacked behind a disk or hanging on a rail. When people buy games they look at the boxes and seeing a box would draw a lot more attention. Pluss, it's take up the same space as a game on the shelf making it harder to miss.

In my eye having that case would actually give me more reason to buy the card instead of using an online transaction. It's more expensive to by points by card...

Your paying for the case and packaging. That way the wallet funds aren't directly translated to real money.

I know it's silly but, if someone sues for the money they spent for the codes they can only get the value of the case once it's been opened. It becomes a consumed product.

The box has a voucher for PSN wallet funds, but the box cost money.

I they wanted market share they'd start selling PS3 slims with PS2 compatibility at $299. That'd make it as easy choice to upgrade even if the buyers didn't plan on using the PS2 software.

The original PS3 was $500-$600 and a large portion of the fanbase was definitely alienated by the price. even though they wanted BC it was just to darn expensive to justify a purchase. The whole pint of lowering the price is to bring in new customers but, it shouldn't sacrifice key features. <...

The touch sensitive technology and the hardware daughter boards used to power up the ps3 fat's did cost extra. The manufacturing was also sent to a country with cheaper labor. I believe Taiwan, China and India are the cheapest places to manufacture high end equipment with the lowest overhead cost.

Cheap labor.
Cheaper components, (if they're local that means less shipping).
Lower manufacturing taxes.

Also think the Touch sensitive stuff isn't royalty free...

Even if Sony is losing on the slim it's not the whole picture.

Take for instance cell phones that sale for $19. We know those things cost more then $19 to make in most cases. Some companies even give them away for free if you agree to a contract. The company who sells them for under $20 has exclusive rights to sell services to that phone. It insures that in the long run if that phone is used as intended it'll generate a profit.

The same can be said for the Slim. Can...

It still cost money to ship etc. Not all factors are being put in this equation. I'm sure that the overall cost isn't reflecting the final profit or final loss otherwise, Sony would've already pulled out of the market. Apparently they still believe that there is profit potential at some point so this analyst loss estimations are moot.

It's like the 360 arcade being sold at $99 with a corded controller, a setup DVD video and a cable, with no booklets. The user who buys all the all...

There are also people on the PS3 site that act that way.

I remember sending a few PM's to one of the well known posters on this site who's name starts with M. being a fan of his comments he didn't even understand my position and treated me as a hostile PM. Not being rude or giving strong undertones toward him the guy just blocked me after two PMs. Both times I sent PMs they weren't even responded to under the same context but met with direct hostility.

So, don't just...

"Because it travels in circles" or something.

(Hint: from the customer to the shop and back to the customer.)

Sorry, not to sound fanboy but, that's was what I thought you was going to say as I was reading.

Most of the customer who helped create the 50+ percent said that this generations RROD wouldn't affect future purchases of MS products.

Apparently a lot of customers are just sheep to be controlled by a Shepard. It's not like everyone out there is a rocket scientist when they make purchases. I bet even 120+ IQ people are in acceptance of the failure rate yet still maintain a healthy relationship with the 360 experience.

Ever notice how there are people who can do ama...

You can be pissed all you want, but if it does break you have a choice to continue with the 360 experience or move on.

Which path will you take? Being pissed about something doesn't solve anything, at some point actions will need to be taken to protect your interest.

If it's true about the install base seeing skewed devs are seeing the install based based on MS shipped numbers. These numbers help developers decide what console they'll develop games for. Other factors include the special offers and incentives each console maker proposes, the software production cost, the overall attach rates and developer loyalty.

Given that, MS has a a lot of units shipped, they offer massive incentives for going exclusive, timed exclusives, download content ...

You can put a warranty on a box full of poop. It doesn't mean it a superior piece of poop in a box. MS says they stand behind their product FINE. They should've thought of that before they released it knowing it was defective from the start.

They released a shoddy product. That warranty is used as an excuse to misdirect the customers away from the negative issue (damage control). It took them a near class action lawsuit to extend their warranties. They didn't do it for the custom...

The cheaper blu-ray drive and system cooling are yet to seen. Lets wait and see if these factors play a role in the slims reliability before making announcements about it being the best.

It's going to sell good based on pre-orders though.
