supposedly you can't choose to backup your save data anymore without doing a full backup up or import/export.

This might not seem like much but consider this. If it's what I think it is when or if your PS3 screws up your game save's probably "won't restore to the new console." >.<

If this is true good job guys you just ruined the ability to successfully backup saves so unlucky folks will lose hundreds or even thousands of hours of gameplay work.

I once posted this as news but it wasn't linked through an article so I had to take this video down.

Please check this video if you are interested in this topic. It's very informative.

It's very nice at first I had issues figuring out how to access the menu. Figured out that the up /down on the d-pad would navigate to the movies ans tabs.

These look good on my slow DSL connections I was very surprised that it worked this well.

Netflix sends you a disk you put it in and it issues a number to confirm the device. I didn't even have to input my user name and password on the PS3 it just knew I was the account holder.

I wonder if I can put ...

I believe there was an article about this it was more like a netflix system.

The idea was you'd pay a monthly fee and have the ability to download limited content each month. Where some items would need to be removed and deactivated others would be activated on the system until the subscription ran out. Much like gamefly and netflix would only allow a few disk out at a time.

There was even speculation that having a $20 would include download on demand movies just lik...

I'm upset about the way backups are handled especially the protected ones that are linked to a console.

If you can lock them to a console why not allow them to be locked to the user instead. It's sickening to be unable to backup your save data because they're so worried about cheaters. Not everyone wants trophies or cares about online epeans. I'd just like you have my saves if my PS3 fails or another catastrophe.

If it's still to much to link saves to the user why ...

By placing a targeting cross hairs on the screen when you have a range attack spell selected or a crossbow in either hand. Simply using the camera angle to target without use of any lock on.

Much like how Uncharted and other 3rd person shooters would work.

Currently the game shoots based on your standing point no matter what direction your camera angle is. Casting or firing like this is a total waste of time.

I've been playing for some time and enjoy it for the most part. The game isn't perfect though from my perspective. I'd like to be allowed to disable, backup (for recovery) or protect my 100+ hour investments.

Things I hate about the game is

1. ONE time events If you screw up on an NPC and they die or you accidentally hit them there is no turning back.

when I went through 1-3 after the gate I missed a key npc fight for old king armor. I didn't know it was...

When I see 9 new games I'm looking for PS3 games not PSP. All they need to do is say 6 PSP games and 3 PS3 games. It just annoys me when handhelds titles are used to make a console list appear expanded.

Despite being able to download PSP titles over the PS3 it doesn't mean it's in the same category.

I beat this game a while back and the only thing that burned me with these packs is they worked only once.

These packs are crazy they're mostly syth items. The costume packs are about the only thing that transfers in easy mode. All the other packs that give items are lost if you beat the game in easy. T.T

Sheesh, cross edge is almost as bad as Rockband and little big planet content packs.

Their is a difference when F.U.D. trickery, bribery, underhanded or uncompetitive tactics are used. When Sony toots it's normally about Sony and they are humbled about the competitors. When Microsoft toots it's about Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Microsoft is also very aggressive towards the competition.

When in interviews. If Sony is ask questions about the competition they'll normally react in a fashion to direct away from commenting directly about competition. What do you thi...

If you can package and slip something into hardware or software to gain a market share it's possible to leverage an advantage. Some are good for the industry others are bad.

Examples.

Sony : put a blu-ray into the PS3 to help it gain market share and get the upper hand on HD-DVD. It helped the console by allowing bigger games but increased the overall system cost. Dispute the cost increase it helped the console produce larger capacity games and become a movie player....

That article was full of random pictures that I couldn't even finish reading it. By page 3 I gave up. I felt like I was looking at a collage of random pictures to tell a story.

Microsoft announces $99-$150 console putting the next gen on par with last gen PS2's.

Is it just me that thinks MS is acting like ruthless cult leaders trying to brain wash followers like gaming is some sort of religious war to them?

The reason I'm saying is is because, everything they seem to announce is either F.U.D against the completion, damage control, or some type of baseless threat.

If the firmware is to outdated for the software you put in the unit the games have it on the disk. No need to have internet access at all if you actually buy games for your system!

Back when I had one of my systems off the internet and stuck LBP in with old firmware it gave a message something like.

"Firmware 2.5 is required for this game"

>>> It then gave the option to update by the game disk. <<<

If people are u...

If you've ever watched the PSwand they guy was moving his hand in special motions over the globe. This is a technology nickname Sony gave a name too those motion called sorcery.

Whenever the user interacts with the wand it it's the trademark name for how the wand is utilized.

If it's a game wow, it must be that one they showed in the demo.

If Celebs can do it and publicly announce it why should Joe Public fear illegal practices.

To think the young children who look up to him as a role model see him saying it' ok to pirate even if you have the money to get anything you want. It was his son that did this and he was cool about it.

"I don't see why game installs and crappy OSs have anything to do with actual gaming. Last time I checked, plenty of console gamers were fine with glitches shipping in their final games, hardware crashes, RRoD, and problems caused by firmware updates..."

Taking into account most of the truths you mentioned. IMHO, it seems the consoles are still more and reliable less technical. I for one didn't stand for the RROD so that point is moot. What I found out with PC is if sof...

Let's assume you're talking about games that run on your PC. I've had so much trouble with PC's that I've given up on them as a gaming rig.

Don't forget. If you own the PC you also need to buy the OS (at least $200 for windows unless you're a pirate) and constantly clean up the mess left over by game software uninstalls. When I'd install demos or games and remove them on a PC they always left directories and registry crap all over the place.

In some cases games like ...

I've installed LBP saves after my family room ps3 died (YLOD). Keeping backup every few days on SD cards. After getting 100% made a card that is a finalized 100% completion backup then stored it on a 2 GB sd card. I placed the card in it's plastic case and taped it to the inside of the LBP PS3 case.

When the system was replaced and the user account fixed I loaded LBP. After getting all the updates I simply copied the old save back to that users account. Since the old saves are b...
