No tears necessary - we've got GT5 - did you hear? It's GOTY by the way? Yay!!

a) Damage is very nice and fits the concept of GT well.
b) Damage gets worse as your level increases because at the lower levels, if you pay to fix your car, you'll never afford upgrades and other cars.

c) PD put in damage because the Western audience demanded it after GT4 - now it's there, it's up to the players to unlock thus demonstrating they really wanted it at all ;)

GT5 is GOTY by the way!

Get a PC - current consoles don't meet your expectations.

The hits just keep coming (no pun intended) for 360 this year :/

Well things have certainly changed around here. a few years ago the PS3 was a laughing stock, then it just drew a lot of fire when it started to get the first cool games, then MGS4, LBP, Resistance, Uncharted 2, KZ2 etc etc all happened and the tide has turned to the point where people now say this site is PS3 biased! All that's happened is that people have bought a PS3, played the games and come to the internet to talk about them - no bias, just gamers.

The sad thing is,...

Wow is right - those are wonderful.

Particularly enjoy the "miniature" filter making those cars look like toys - really cool effect ;)

This is true. I took a picture yesterday of what is (closest to) my car in real life - when it rendered I had to do a double take - the reflection on the car badge and rear fender was unbelievably accurate and sharp.

Easily could pass for a real shot of my car - except it's better than reality because my car is never that clean !!!

Que?

What hype train? As has been pointed out, Sony has barely done any marketing for GT5. Any hype created has been down to people and their expectations.

Critics have chosen not to like GT5 because a) It's an easy hit-harvest for them and b) Sony haven't deployed the marketing budget in their direction.

None of that matters though, because the game is in people's hands, and just like the word of mouth generated the publici...

GT5 isn't less than stellar on it's own terms. It is an exceptional simulator and game for any console this gen.

If any game deserves a 10/10 this gen then GT5 deserves that also.

However, reviewers seem to be reviewing what is missing, rather than what is there - and what is there is still more than any other driving simulator to date.

Disappointing reviews, yes, predictable reviews... yes.

I think there is a big backlash coming to professional review sites now. Other games they can get away with shoddy practice - but so many people are getting and have already got GT5 that the reviews will seem ludicrously bad to a lot of people.

It says "Best Racing Game Ever Released" that sounds like a statement of opinion based on playing the game - ie review.

And why don't I want the game reviewed? Who says I don't - I want the game reviewed by someone who has played it enough to see all it has to offer.

I played it for around 11 hours today and got about 10% covered. Reviewers have had it for 2 or 3 days and online for about 6 hours. Therefore, they aren't reviewing the gam...

Why do you think sites like CVG exist? They exist because of Ad revenue from hits - that's it.

Whatever gets hits gets printed - and right now, that's GT5.

CVG has nothing to say, but is going to say it anyway - and stick GT5 in the title to hit harvest.

Actually I think Kinect and the support MS has given it, signalled them ceasing to compete with Sony and trying to compete with Wii.

Make of that what you will, but for "core" gamers (whatever they are) there is only one console right now and the casuals have 2 (although there are some good games on those 2 of course).

Who are these guys? And why are they reviewing a game that I'd guess they've had for about a day and online access for about 6 hours....

It's like drinking from a fire hydrant around here - just ease off the GT5 bandwagon dudes.

I think there are a lot of Kintec boxes lying around Japan too - just ship 'em back MS. Or just get the traded in ones from Gamestop - they're hardly used and could pass for new.

Man CVG is desparate to farm hits - can't they pay their bills or something?

They've posted articles about how their review is coming, now they're commenting on bloggers and laughably incomplete reviews trying to get some GT5 traffic their way.

Really, it's embarrassing. Looks like the other releases this year aren't getting the job done - stick GT5 in the title of every article to generate hits.

^^ Well it's quite simple.

GT5 was supposed to release Nov 2nd - it didn't.

Sony pulled out all the stops and got it into the hands of users ASAP - that being 24th November.

That means the reviewers and the users are getting the game at the same time. Now Sony knows, as does everyone, that gaming journalism is really not journalism at all - it is simply hit farming in order to get ad revenues and the earlier you dash out a 100 words o...
