Heh - this isn't a 360! 4.5Gb is very little out a 250Gb stock slim...

Wish they'd patch those horrible textures - they're beginning to be a distraction, I just can't stop staring at them and thinking of PC games circa 1998 :/

I already have my beta key but I imagine it depends on where you're getting them from. Mine is due to pre-order.

These days it doesn't stop at disk checking. Usually there's a disk check AND a key code to enter.
The thing is this - SecurROM is not about security AT ALL. It's not there to stop pirates at all!!!
Amzaing I should say that isn't it - well no.
You see the reason it's there is to kill any used game selling on PC. That's it - nothing else.
It simply means that you cannot take a PC game you won't play again into a store and trade it - you can'...
Lol that must be sarcasm.
This doesn't stop pirates - not for one hour. ME2 was downloadable before the official release for both PC and 360.
The only people this kind of security hurts is legitimate purchasers who have to jump through many hoops to use the software they purchased, while pirates install and go - no nagging, no disks, and no spyware on their machines.
I'm all for securing software - but this is not a suitable method. If you think it is, y...
Looks like the beta is their chance to check the security - so much bad press due to poorly implemented security software.
Personally, for PC Games I use quite a few cracks - firstly because I get irritated finding/switching disks, secondly because I like to keep my PC upgraded and that usually means a round of reinstalls and relicensing. The worst insult though is some companies try and limit your number of activations - disgraceful.
Too much pain to let security so...
MMO = non-realtime combat and interaction
MAG = Realtime combat and interaction
Therfore MAG != MMO
You see?

Wonder why an article about a game not on PS3 is in the PS3 section? Couldn't be flame bait could it?
Anywho I'm about 25% into ME2 so far - seems OK but not as good as I hoped - I think Bioware have skewed it a bit too far towards shooter and that is a crowded genre already...
Now it's a clunky TPS up against GeOW and UC2 and even Deus Ex if you want RPG/shooter hybrids.
Oh, and the graphics are still bad (bear in mind I'm playing the PC version).
...
I lol'd in the DI demo when he started firing Crucifixes.... This is a parody of beat em ups not a real game... Still tickles me now - like an episode of South Park.

You don't play many RPGs? I think it's a stretch to say greatest ever on the basis of 1 day of play unless you've never played any top RPGs before...
r.
@Ether
If you've played Dragon Age then you've basically played ME2 also - they're pretty much identical in terms of overall structure and approach - only difference is setting. So instead of lightning bolt from a wand, you've got a bullet shaped bolt from a gun.
Oh and the graphics are better in Dragon Age.
If you have access to an Xbox 1 or even a crappy PC you can play KOTOR - that's basically the same too.

Bethesda for one although they've gone quiet after big hits with Fallout & Oblivion. How about The Witcher for example - in fact there are quite a few when I think about it.
I suppose the problem is that most western RPGs are MMOs now. ME2 and even Dragon Age feel a bit like MMOs but have no MP.
They feel that way because they have small areas to explore, a few enemies, lots of dialog and increasingly simplistic RPG elements.
Without the MP part thou...
Bioware games definitely follow a pattern...
It was obvious when playing Jade Empire and KOTOR - basically the same game reskinned...
I'm beginning to get a similar feeling with Dragon Age and ME2 - I had hoped after so long in devlopment that there might be some further advances.
That's not to say they're not solid or fun - but I do feel there is a certain cookie cutter approach from Bioware now...
r.
My Key turned up today - just can't download the client :/
I quite liked the PS3 beta - I hope this one at least offers a different map (or even better maps) but I doubt it.
What with this and MAG to play - ME2 isn't getting much of a look in!
r.
Doesn't feel like GOTY to me - then again I'm only a couple of hours in...
However, at the same amount of play time with UC2 and LBP (in fact with the LBP beta) I knew I was playing something special.
Maybe Dragon Age has stolen ME2's thunder a bit...

Hmm someone dropped the ball here....
Better get on then horn to the limeys and tell them to tear that review down and wait for the "Go" from HQ.
Lolz - IGN pwns itself by discrediting it's own reviews....
r.
According to Fileplanet (subscriber side) you can apply for the PC Beta...
Personally probably not a game I'll bother buying but I might try the beta if it appears.

Well having played this for a couple of hours on PC I think it's fair to say, graphically this isn't up to current PC standards.
The environments are small with not much going on, and yet the texturing is poor and some parts are just downright ugly - i.e. don't look out of the windows at Project Lazarus!
Need to play the game a bit more before I comment on that - not been wowed as yet but that may come.
@MoneyBuysEverything - except a clue and decent PC ...
Have to say - all those advantages are actually for PC, not 360...
1) Price
360 is expensive!!! If you bought a PC today with the spec of a 360 it would cost about 50% of the 360 price. Of course no one buys a PC with the spec of a 360 because the 360 is 5 years old. Not only that but the PC is more flexible.
Factor in that games are cheaper, DLC is free, online is free and in fact, over a like for like period, the PC is cheaper - oh and it has better games. <...
I guess that's something you can do when you've got strong first party development teams - lots of in house dev skill at Sony.
I imagine Ninty could so the same but then again - they don't seem to carfe at all about 3rd parties.
MS care the about 3rd parties but of course, they have no game dev expertise anymore (not that they had a lot to start with) so ... well yeah.
