This vid has been around for a few days over at gtplanet.

Anywho, que the people who don't understand what this is actually showing....

And while I imagine it'll be good, GT5 has simply taken too long now. It was stupid not to release last year and even that would've been late, but a delay from March in Japan and still no firm dates for NA/EU....

Just too long - presumably due to feature creep like this stuff, that 90%+ of users won't get to use.

MMO's have

a) No realtime dynamic combat - just number crunching comparison combat so being a few milliseconds late due to lag here and there doesn't matter.

b) No massive PvP instances with realtime/dynamic combat - MMOs use instancing to cut down the number of players to manageable numbers.

c) No command and control support.

MMOs are not suitable for comparison, they are an entirely different type of game - sorry. You'll need to find some...

Do you really know what an RTS is? Your comments make so little sense I don't know if you're just trolling or being serious.

In fact the OP didn't mention RTS at all - he mentioned Total War which is very different to most games that are laballed as RTS's like Supreme Commander, COH, C&C etc.

So to use RTS to describe Total War is, in my opinion, not only inaccurate but also an insult to people who play Total War games (which are far deeper strategic games with s...

Well I play a lot of PC games (and PS3, Xbox, Wii ... well whatever) and I'm still at a loss as to what PC games people are talking about when they say 256 is only a big deal because it's a *console*...

I can't think of any current PC games that manage to *successfully* deploy 256 players. Someone mentioned planetside before - that was a Sony game interestingly enough, but it also wasn't particularly good, had a subscription and was more like an MMO.

On that point, M...

Maybe they're worried their 360 will RRoD on them so they prefer the PC version of 360 "exclusives".

Not only that, but as things stand there are several excellent games that are *only* on PS3. So there's no choice - PS3 or don't play.

With a few notable exceptions, that isn't the case with the 360, so why risk breaking the hardware if the option is just to get a PC version.

Besides which, the 360 is old - even an older PC can run 360 ports com...

@TooTall

Planetside. That bears more resemblance to an MMO than a modern FPS - it wasn't great when it was released and, at 6 years old certainly doesn't stand up today. As for *current* PC Games that support MAG numbers - there aren't that many actually. And the ones there are suffer from the same thing - they're so disorganised no one really bothers with them.

@Everyone
Really getting hung up on 256 players isn't a great idea - PC games with those numbers are...

"
MAG’s biggest problem is that you get no sense of achievement at the end of the game so really what’s the point of playing. I’ve given some very valid reasons which I suspect 80% of reviewers are going to agree. There are certainly a lot of people of N4G who agree and the odd won who doesn’t "

Absolutely disagree with this - I would say (based on the beta) that in fact MAG is more rewarding than MW for example.

The reason is that MAG has no classes ...

they need to be careful calling MAG AAA. While I enjoyed the beta a lot it is definitely not going to be to everyone's taste.

Unless the full release changes I would expect to see a lot of 8s and maybe even a 7 from the harsher websites.

Personally I think it's great and have it as day 1, but it's just not a title that will appeal to the casual FPS-ers given it's slower pacing and somewhat bland graphics.

is this under the PS3 section?

Not just for flamebait is it? Or did I miss an announcement?

Hold your arms out in front of you as if you were holding an imaginary steering wheel (like we've been told for Natal).

OK, start the timer! (don't move your arms while doing it!).

As a guide, a race will take what - 10 mins of doing this? A new game will be several hours of doing this on day one...

Personally, I think we're gonna see a lot of people not using this or a new human sub-species with massively developed arms while the rest of the body is ema...

So why is this under the PS3 news section? Do the mods decide or is there some other process for an item to be listed as PS3 news?

This and the one about Natal and lag are both under the PS3 section while being unrelated to that platform....

The cycnic in me says that kind of thing might happen just to incite a bit of idiot chest beating, but I'm sure there's a better reason!

This new Time Trial thing has worse texturing than GT5P so I guess they stripped stuff out to keep it to 220Mb for download.

However, in my first blast around the circuit (with pad - will hook up the G25 later) the physics and handling did feel different and I'd say better.

But with a pad its difficult to say anything conclusive.

I play L4D2 as well - on PC. Very little talking - only occasional text chatting and the game works perfectly well.

PS3 would be fine for it - but then again, given it's only an OK game, I'd rather Valve spend their time on something better if they were ever going to do a PS3 game.

PC sims eh? You want to compare those to F3 and GT5? Heh.

Well, firstly your list is wrong. Thes best sims on PC atm:

1) iRacing
2) LFS
3) netKarPro
4) GTR2

As for F3 - it is a long way behind anything on PC and PS3 for 1 simple reason. There are no good wheel controllers for the 360.

Until the 360 has a controller good enough to match the hardware available on PC (and PS3 by association) the 360 remains a hobbled simulatio...

Germany v Netherlands ends with 7 goals - 4-3 Germany....

The scoreline by itself tells the story of how PES has lost its realism lead to Fifa. Watching the vid (and playing the demo) just confirms it.

In fact the roles have switched in another area which is graphics - it seems this year that PES has nicer graphics when it comes to players. FIFA isn't quite so good.

Other than that though, FIFA seems to the better game of football. The commentary in PES,...

AFAIK - no the G25 does not work with the 360...

In fact, there are no good wheels for the Xbox which is the main reason I gave up on F2 and will pass on F3. Sadly no decent wheel support means the 360 is no use as a decent driving sim platform.

Much like codies other recent releases - this is a console game which they've also given a PC release.

No dedicated server -> 32 player MP limit, encrypted files to impede mods, and watching a live stream a minute ago - no weapon recoil! Also the AI command interface is the same as the console versions including the overly deep menu structure - and the AI seems to lack potency.

As for foliage - turns out this is like ARMA - the foliage is gimped by draw distance s...
