It may not win the format war, but who cares about that. All PS3s have it as standard so its here to stay which means developers wont ever need to worry about space for the life of the console and of course we get HD films as well, and now that the price has been dropped your not paying such a premium for it so its a nice bonus.
Games may not need the space now, but its their for developers to use, and i think 1st party devs...
Companies do this kinda thing all the time. Sony have been struggling financially fot a while and it makes sense to sell of their share in the cell and the manufacturing plants for a large cash injection and then buy them in as a customer, without having to front the bills for running the manufacture plants. It doesn't mean the cell is bad, it just means sony doesnt want to wait the long haul for the cell to turn a profit.

......that we also have PS3 now with remote play, add that to the TV out and it becomes quite usefull to poeple that don't already own one but want it for the media uses, playing movies stored on ir PS3 via remote play on a TV at ur friends house and using the TV out, also the sat nav add on and web cam, with it now being smaller and who knows how well they will develop remote play of games, lair shows it can be done, if they really want to im sure they can tweak and optimize it to work well....

Started hl2:ep1 but my pc died and havnt got a new 1, i got a ps3 instead, i got sik of having to keep upgrading my pc to play games the way they were made to look. ( im having to use a pentium 3 thinkpad at the moment, feel the power, lol)

I have had a PS3 since launch in uk and havn't played a single PS2 game. I bought a next gen system for next gen games.
I can understand at launch there wasn't a lot of PS3 games, but coming into Xmas this year the line up isn't too bad

why would they make yet another psp without umd, when the slim is just about to release..
Sony already said they wont make major changes as PSP is still quite young and they don't want to p*ss of original PSP owners by changing game funtionality, ie getting rid of umd, adding second analogue.
you'll have to wait for PSP2 for these features
but the difference is that these dont affect performance,
wifi is just a convenience(can use cable), mem card slots are a convenience(can get a usb card reader), hard drives(all have them so all games can be designed to use them and every1 can paly them), emotion engine(yes its better to have it but seriousley, how many people play there ps2 games that much when we have warhawk, and software emulation is still there anyway, the 360 isn't exactly compatible with every old game)
How many of the people loving halo had played many other FPS's before halo,
i think a lot of people are loyal to it as it was their 1st bite at a proper FPS and the people, like me, that were never that impressed started playing FPS on pc with real games like half life, and real multiplayer like unreal tournament and counterstrike?

Not everyone that finds halo a bit stale is a fanboy. I play 360 and ps3 and used to play ps2 and xbox.
I still say PC is still no 1 for fps but i got fed up having to upgrade my machine to play the next great title the way it was ment to so i have moved to consoles, halo just doesnt do it for me really.
Gears was great,short, but great. COD4 looks good, KZ2 looks good, bioshocks good, orange box i cant wait for, but halo isn't that special, especially after the weak halo2 endi...

an amazing game and compare it to half life the changes are huge.
same with killzone - killzone 2, looks like a real upgrade
halo 1 to halo 3 probably would be an ok change but halo 2?, soulda been halo 1.25, or halo:episode 1 in a half life 2 stylee

This update focuses on some PS3 compatibility and playability issues for select titles. If it was like madden, or any other weak multiplat game then peole would flame the devs for being lazy.
I think any1 that bought 1 system expecting it to bit*h slap the other on multi plat games is nieve(excuse spelling).
When it comes to first party/exclusives then as i said earlier the differences will show, I for one will be pi**ed if KZ2 and other 1st parties in the future don't oen the 360.
I think it's starting to show that now the ps3 has been out for a while devs are getting better at using it.
I think what we will start to see is multi plat games starting to look nearly identical, because devs, or at least their publishers pushing for the game to be ready, will not want to spend time making the game play better on one platform, it won't make them any more money.

that link referes more to the backhaul network of the internet than anything else. In the UK most people cant get above 5mb conection on dsl, alot cant get past 2. and thats to do with the old telephone network, from the house to the exchange.
ADSL 2 is on its way but it wont those people on 2mb at the moment wont get much more than 3, maybe 4mb.

Anything running over the old BT network is copper all the way from the exchange. Currently if your service provider rents the adsl equipment at the exchange and the link from their to their servers or direct to the net you will get up to 8meg max.
If your service provider has their own equipment at the exchange some of them offer 16meg max using adsl 2.
