Just in time for me to get back from grad school. I may need to hold off work for this...
Except for the PS3, Sony is providing a free cross-platform engine that allows developers to start development on the PS3 and eventually even be able to port it to the 360. I don't see MS doing something this generous with XNA. And Sony developers seem more willing to share and help each other, taking for example Naughty Dog and Insomniac.
Infinite Undiscovery isn't 2008, and I haven't heard of most of the other games. Only one I am jealous of is Tales of Vesperia, but since its JRPG and from Namco, it'll most likely be only a timed exclusive for the 360, since development started on the 360.
I can just imagine how much further LBP can go beyond this.
Killzone 1 was a PS2 game, and Killzone 2 was on the PSP with a top-down view. And there's also Resistance 2 with 8-player coop campaign mode and 60-player multiplayer model.
It's not as bad as this article makes it seems. It just doesn't have rumble. I already have two SIXAXIS.
They sure love their UE3 engine...
I doubt it, the 40GB is selling pretty well for them. There was just an article about an new FCC filing, which I'm guessing is the replacement for the 80GB with a die shrink.
They should concentrate on reducing the cost of their SKUs, bring out a new one to replace 80GB (news of that already in recent FCC filing), and release the DS3 for North America before they attempt another price cut. I think Hirai was right that there's no point in a price cut without the software to back it up, so they should wait for at least MGS4, KZ2, or LBP before doing so.
Insomniac is considered 2nd party, and they have a very tight relation with 1st party developers like Naughty Dog.
I wonder how much copying and pasting EA developers would be doing in light of this.
Meanwhile, Sony's top developers are sharing their development technologies to improve the PS3 community. Naughty Dog wrote their engine in C/C++ so they can share with first and second party developers, while Insomniac just announced Nocturnal Initiative to share their source codes on a public website for all developers.
A potential 4 million hour playtime is insane. I played through the two previous Disgaeas and they have almost no end. This a series of games that would never be finished in a marathon (unless you skip through all the sidequests).
4,000,000 hours => 166,666 days => 456 years
Like roaches after a nuclear fallout...
My guess is a new SKU that is suppose to replace the premium 80GB model that has been phased out. The point of the FCC filing is submission of changes that will not affect the RF profile of the device, so the new device should still have the same RF capabilities as the previous PS3s.
They also seem to maintaining the change for their debugging station for the PS3, which I would assume is the diagnostic or development module for the PS3.
I don't know how you can have three master accounts. I just have one for the U.S.
I think most people get there movies in one of the following forms:
a) Theater with friends/family
b) Living room (usually in physical format) with friends/family
c) Computer (usually from Torrent)
A repeat of Eternal Sonata I guess.
And a wasteful multi-million dollar Superbowl ad.
It sounds like FFXIII will still be an exclusive but the new MMO should be a multiplatformer.
