What are you talking about?? A virtual console is not BC. The scorpio is not a new generation of hardware. Nobody is looking to Microsoft's E3 presentation hoping they'll announce more XB360 games they'll be able to play on their XB1, but rather new games.

BC is cool but sometimes compromises need to be made in order for a platform to move forward.

Sony could have kept PS3 BC in the PS4, but that would have required them to stick with the Cell processor. Instead they chose to cut ties with the past and create a more developer friendly system.

Nintendo could have kept BC with the Switch, but due to the nature of the Switch, the controller completely changed. They had to break with the past to move forward. ...

Microsoft: "We have 6 teraflops of computing power in Scorpio."

AtGames: "We have Blast Processing!" mic drop and walks away

(I seriously want this thing. Like, a lot)

Absolutely. Great game with a great story. I'm guessing those who dismiss it are also the same people who complain you can't skip the cutscenes.

As one of the few people who has one of these AtGames systems and actually likes it a lot, this version seems to have a bunch of upgrades that make it pretty good purchase.

The controllers are truly wireless, and not reliant on IR. This one has HDMI out instead of composite out with mono-audio. And apparently there's going to be a save system (and rewind) built in. Add that to the new look of this system and the fact it can play original cartridges and this is a pretty ...

Microsoft's sole focus on power is going to be their undoing. Right now Switch is selling gangbusters, not because it's the most powerful system on the market, but because it has Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. More power may have been a factor for the PS4 at launch, but that was almost 4 years ago. Unless MS is making a clean break with the past, I don't see how having the most powerful console is going to do anything.

Remember, right now the most powerful...

I keep seeing it said that devs don't want to put the time into harnessing the full power of the Pro. Then I also see how Scorpio isn't going to hold devs back. So which is it? What's the point of putting out a 6 teraflop super-console if developers seem to have such a hard time supporting what's already available?

I've played the previous versions and while they're nothing more than a Vita version of the mobile game (at a significant markup in price) they're not bad. Yes, they're grindy but that's almost part of the charm. It's relaxing and a fun game to just play for a bit and chill out.

This whole discussion reminds me of the early days of digital online music. In the beginning, the iTunes version of buying the MP3 and downloading it worked better. Eventually though, streaming all your music not only became acceptable, it became preferable.

PS Now is probably a lot further behind where they thought they would be by now, but game streaming is the future. Game Pass is cool but it isn't the future.

I wish I could recall that wonderful time when Netflix had new releases. The Netflix I subscribed to had old movies you once enjoyed, B-movies, and the first season of a few TV shows that might be good. It wasn't much because all the good stuff had to be obtained via DVD.

And speaking of DVD, in order to watch any of the streaming stuff, you had to put your Netflix DVD in your PS3, XB360, or Wii just to get it to work. I still have those discs laying ...

It's not shit, but it's definitely early. Remember when Netflix first started streaming movies and old TV shows? It was kind of crappy. Why would anyone prefer that over getting DVDs in the mail? Over time, that changed. "Buffering" went away, the selection became incredible, and now most people forget that there even is a DVD rental service.

The beauty of PS Now is that the games start instantly. Now hour long downloads before you can try a game. And fro...

This list is a bunch of little nagging complaints, but nothing really that should make you embarassed to love PlayStation. I mean, if you read the book Console Wars you will find a few dozen reasons why Nintendo was truly evil in the 80's and you should actually be embarassed to support that company.

And the identity for PlayStation is its logo. It doesn't need a character but it has used the PS logo since the very beginning and it's quite effective.

Wow. That really put it all into perspective. I can't believe I ever liked my PlayStation. I mean... yeah... UMD discs can't be played in my Vita. I mean, they still play fine in my PSP, but he's right, they don't work on Vita. To hell with Sony.

Marketing?? Wha!??! Blast Processing makes everything better. I wish my car had Blast Processing. I'd never have to change the oil again.

Now, it's fun to look back and chuckle at the marketing. At the time though... it was serious as hell. SNES was for kids and Genesis was for the cool kids. Honest to god, it was years before I ever met a kid with an SNES, and when I did, I was kind of shocked. My initial thought was he was too old to be playing a Nintendo.

Where the Genesis really shined for me and my friends was in the multi-player games. Sports games were always better on Genesis, and then there were great arcade style games like Altered Beast and Golden Axe. They were the big games we could all play together.

Yes, SNES had Zelda and Mario and Metroid, but only one person could ever really enjoy them.

Only Sega Genesis has Blast Processing. Super Nintendo doesn't.

Game. Set. Match.

Welcome to the next level.

Referencing Capcom and Level 5 is what I mean by cherry picking. Yes, Capcom has had success with Monster Hunter and a few others on Nintendo platforms. And as someone who has been playing video games for 30+ years, who is Level 5?? I must have missed their press conference at E3. I mean, even Devolver Digital is more recognized.

I love Nintendo games, and I really wished that they created consoles that brought back the "playing with power"...

3162d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

People seem to like to cherry pick to show that 3rd party games sell on Nintendo platforms, but there's a reason EA, Ubisoft, Activision, and most other AAA devs essentially abandoned Wii U. It wasn't because their games were selling great. They've also stopped developing games for PS360, because those systems are underpowered and can't run the gamess they want to make.

Wait. Am I the only one who can't get past the fact that the headline has a huge grammatical error?? "Sony are destroying..." ??? WTF? I are mad that this author can't write, especially the headline of an article. Everything after that is irrelevant.

Sheesh
