I agree with you. The way I see it is that the list of Nintendo exclusive games, even though being good games, is pretty much all the games available for the Wii U, while on the other consoles you have a huge list of games available to choose from, with a lot of variety for all tastes. So if you are someone who has to choose having only one console, then, at least for me, the Wii U is a waste. And as you just said it, that's Nintendo's problem.
Totally agree. I got it as a PS+ game and I was very happy because I thought this will be a great game.... what a disapointment! It was terrible!. I'm also surprised that there will be a physical release for this game. I'm glad I didn't pay for it.
Well, you have to admit that for thousands of years of human civilization in our planet there never was any kind of violent act at all up until the 1970's when videogames were invented. I mean, the word "violence" didn't even exist before, it had to be added to our vocabulary since videogames ruined our world. So yes, playing videogames turns people into violent murderers.
Of course I'm being sarcastic, why are we having this conversation about violence ...
I was expecting this game to be at least good, but after reading several reviews I'm convinced it turned out to be the opposite. The fact that this game does not have the option to invert the aim Y axis says enough to me. Too bad.
I'm a huge Metroid fan, I've played each and every Metroid game (yes, that includes the terrible "Other M" too) and I have to say that I'll skip Federation Force. This is NOT the Metroid I want. I don't like where Nintendo is taking this franchise. Sorry.
Mobile gaming is a huge market, and Nintendo is a videogame company, I just can't believe it has taken so long for Nintendo to get into that. Also how about "brand awareness"? I've noticed that most kids today are not very familiar with Nintendo, if at all, becasue they mostly play games in their parents smartphones, but there is nothing Nintendo related in there. They know Sonic for example, becasue it's in mobile. But if they don't know Mario and company, they won&...
They should ask Frank Underwood ;)
And imagine the size of the cartridges, you'll have to use a leaf blower to blow them.
I can't remember when it was the last time I bought a game on day one. It has been years, literaly. I always wait for sales. Also I never, ever buy multiplayer games, because I don't like them, but also because those games have an expiration date. I like to play my games again later.
The Talos Principle is my favorite game this year. I would also add Styx Master of Shadows to that list.
Excellent article, Paul. I agree 100% and I've always said that the Wii was not a succes becasue it didn't close the gap between casual and core gamers. In fact it spooked the core gamers away. Just as you said, the "success" they got with the Wii send the wrong message and Nintendo learned all the wrong lessons from it.
Funny though that you just made them an excellent analysis of Nintendo's problems with their home consoles for free, while I bet Ninten...
Lets hope you are right, because currently their P/E ratio is above 50, which is too damn high and if Nintendo doesn't start improving their earnings and reduce the P/E to at least half, then their stock price could go down and reach record historic lows. Unfortunately I think that is what will happen before we see any future improvement in sales from mobile games and the NX, since those will start to factor in their financial results at least a year from now.
I guess it's now safe to say that EA is no longer considered the worst video game company.
I don't agree with that way of thinking. Sure, the fans already know about the game, but also we already know Coke exists and I drink it regularly, but if Coca-Cola stops marketing Coke just because we already know about it, I can assure you people will eventually forget about it and their sales will drop significantly.
There are lots of people who may not care about Xenoblade X, but they could see the marketing and think that the Wii U has cool games and may end up buying a Wii U...
The PS2 game that jumps to my mind? Black!!!
For me that was the best FPS on the PS2!
First Working WiiU Emulator. "Working". I don't think that word means what you think it means.
I've noticed all the improvements listed to be true, but now there is a glitch where I get trapped by invisible "dusters" very often.
A more accurate title should have said "PS3/PS2", I can't see the PS4 screens, but there are some that look like PS2 screeshots.
I was going to say the same, the characters look like something between PS2 and PS3, but all the rest looks like a PS2 game to me. Also I agree that this seems to apply to most japanese games.
The PS4 and Steam version will be released in May 2016, but I don't know exactly what day. I've already played it on the 360 and the free remaster version for PC using the Epic Games launcher. It's an excellent game, one of the best metroidvanias out there, my only complain is that it is a bit short though, you can finish it in under 6 hours.
