And yet another article of one of those gaming journalists that are not gamers at all. I'm getting tired of their BS. If the author doesn't want to play those games, then it is as simple as not playing them. It's not like they're been forced to play each and every game that is released. Now game developers have to ask for permission to make a game?
I guess the author is not a gamer, he thinks he is but when he says he expects new consoles to do something else and life changing it's clear to me that he doesn't like games and he is expecting something different from new gen consoles. Also this article can be applied to any other thing that has incremental changes in technology, like cars, computers, weapons, etc. When you truly like something you appreciate any improvement no matter how small it may be. Imagine writing an article ...
I think the reason for P.T. demo looking so realistic is the lighting and shadows they used. I believe they used a technique called "light baking" in which developers use a ray-tracing rendering software (like metal ray, for example) and create the textures with all the lights and shadows allready "baked in". Then these textures are handled by the game engine (Fox in this case) as they do with any other texture, creating a great visual efect. But this only works when the l...
I'm happy Kojima-san is pushing 60fps to become a standard in video games. I think that most of the people who say this is not important is because they haven't actually played games at 60fps (or more). Frame rate is far more important for having a great game experience than resolution. Obviously the ideal is to have both, but if I have to choose one or the other, frame rate is always the top priority for me, always.
True photorealism in games will only be possible when game engines render through "ray-tracing". I see in the coments a lot of you don't know what this is and I don't have the time to explain, so google it. The VFX in movies look photo real because of ray-tracing. Also take a look at a new software called Octane by a company named Otoy. Pretty amazing stuff.
So I guess Nintendo gave Ubi a case full of money for this to happen. Anyway, I find it funny how many people are saying they waited for the Wii U version, as if the gamepad is going to make all that difference. I'm always very positive and usually enjoy most games people love to hate, but I've already played Watch Dogs and can tell you that it was a mediocre game at best, and it won't be any better on the Wii U. Don't pay $60 for it, maybe $30, but no more than that.
I know I'm going to receive a lot of hate by saying this, but I agree with everything said in this video. I still think Nintendo does great games, but their consoles? I found them insulting to say the least, and there is no way I'm buying a Wii U. I already got burnt buying a Wii, but not again.
Exactly. I don't wan't to sound anti-WiiU, but I don't understand why are there people who believe this game can look as good on the WiiU as it will on the other consoles/PC. The WiiU version has to be a washed down version, it simply there is no other way. When this games comes to the WiiU (whenever that happens) it will be a PR disaster for Slightly Mad Studios like Watch Dogs was for Ubisoft. They are over promising and will under deliver. I don't need a crystal ball to see...
I'm a PC gamer and I find this article full of BS. PCs have some advantages over consoles, and consoles have advantages over PCs. I play most of the time on my PC, but I also play on consoles from time to time, and will continue doing it forever. The writer of this article is a PC Nazi Fanboy.
I watch TV almost daily and can tell you that since Wii U's launch I've seen a Wii U commercial only ONCE. And Nintendo wonders why it doesn't sell. I still remember Wii commercials everywhere with the two japanese guys arriving to a random house in a white/blue Smart and saying the words "Wii would like to play". I don't understand why Nintendo didn't try something like that again with the Wii U, that was a great marketing campaign.
Dude, read the article. But I have to admit your fourth question is a really good one.
Here goes my disagree, vengeance. Being different is fine, actually I think is a must or else you end up being just a me too product, a clone, with no real value added. But being different just for the sake of it, that's wrong, and that is what Nintendo is doing. Playing to their own drums is not a way of being different to be better, that is just a way to justify their arrogance, and THAT is the reason of all the hate Nintendo has been getting recently. They have become arrogant just lik...
Seriously? How many more articles will be there about this? I really hope Ubisoft won't give in and include a female assassin, because these girls making all this fuss about it are not true gamers.
I'm getting tired of this feminist "gamers".
Holy crap, another feminist "gamer". She is pissed that there are no female characters in AC, but for some reason she is fine with games like Bayoneta 2 or the next Tomb Raider where there are no male characters to play. Yeah right.
I don't understand why so much interest by gay people on getting married. In fact I don't understand why anyone should want to get married at all. Marriage is obsolete as hell. We live in the 21st century, there are equal rights for men and women. There is no need in getting married and messing up a good relationship. If you love someone, either straight or gay, there is no need to sign a contract for that, how love fits into that? Just spend your lives together. I seriously believe t...
I think the author is confusing innovation with practical design, and cowardice with lack of interest. Controllers and keyboards/mouse are still the best and most efficient way to play games, Kinect is a nice idea, at least on paper, but it is not enough to obsolete controllers, it's just not a practical way to play most games, so it is not an actual innovation, it is just another way to play games that has turn out to be not good enough. And developers (and consumers alike) didn't go...
IF, and that is a big if, the game turns out to be actualy good, because I personaly was very disapointed with Skyward Sword. So far I don't see my self buying a Wii U. Mario Kart games are not my thing.
So, Nintendo, can you remind me again what is the purpose of the akward tablet-gamepad that only makes the Wii U more expensive? Ohh! it is just so I can play with out a TV? No sh*t!
Oh the irony! This being an IGN article, when you also CAN NOT change your IGN user name!!!
