Also, since the HD DVD support is only Toshiba and MS, why is it you can find Universal movies on HD DVD but not bluray, as well? I guess they're supporting bluray like Paramo...

I doubt it. It's a theory, but there was a poll not too long ago that said only 20% of PS3 owners actually use their ability to play bluray movies, and only 40% knew about it.
Also, in spite of the huge lead in hardware bluray has over HD DVD when the PS3 is added to the numbers, the movie sales are fairly close, still.
It's all games at this point, not just the FPS. A TON of great games are comming, and, while the FPS player may be more likely not to stray from his genre as much, making those sales more competitive, there is no way anyone can say games, even among different types, aren't eatting the sales of each other this holiday season.
Bioshock is eatten by Halo 3, sure, but not unlike Halo 3 is eatten by Uncharted, or Uncharted is eatten by Mario, or Mario is eatten by Halo 3.

Why should people start liking a game they don't like just because other people do like it?
I don't know 600,000 people playing it, but, for my money, Goldeneye is still the most multiplayer fun, even if I have to have friends over to play it. Halo just pales in comparison.
It's nothing against Halo, but it's nothing terribly special, and I don't see why I should buy into the hype when I have something I think is better.

It is now ok to look at vgchartz because, obviously, MS ran out of money to pay them to inflate the numbers. When the NPD data comes out for Japan, we will see that MS could no longer bribe them either. This is because the 360 hasn't really sold any units at all, and MS had to pay billions to repair the RRoD, that doesn't really even exist because no 360's ever sold.

I can see the 360 riding this wave and taking NA this holiday season, which I wouldn't have said a month ago.
The Wii and DS are both still doing stupidly well, but this is nothing new.
Sony needs to get into this console war.
I would be somewhat shocked if the 360 didn't outsell the Wii, at least in NA (around the world, I just don't think there's enough interest in the 360 to keep up).
However, I don't think it's because of the games, really. The games on the 360 are more hyped, but there are a larger number of good games for the Wii that have been/will be released September-December.
I think, rather, it's because the hyped games for the 360 appeal more to the average American gamer...

But it was a kneejerk reaction to it.
I think the failure rate in one place may have been that high, due to a mistake in making a batch of PS3's. That would lead to one isolated batch of high failure PS3's.
I think this is a case of a terrible overraction to one little problem, not the indication of the PS3 reliablity as some people wanted it to be.
Oh yeah.
We need games of genres that are rare. Look at the FPS, its nearly dead. All you see everywhere are platformers like Mario. Only one or two FPS's come out a year! Platformers come out so often we're just sick of them.
Also, we need more games that aren't sequals. We need new things that aren't stale, like COD4. After all, not only did nothing else come before it, but its a FPS set in a war, what a new idea that no one could be tired of!

HS doesn't compare to SMG, by the way, even from what little I've played of Mario.
I obviously didn't get a chance to play Mario Galaxy in the 90's like you, so I'm going to have to wait a little bit longer.
Actually, the overall is more than the sum of its parts in almost all cases with reviews.
a game might get catagories like 7,8,9,7,9.5, and get a total score of 9.5, because its just got what it needs to get a total of more than that.
I think that's as it should be, though how I feel about a score of over 10 on a 10 point scale is something else...

Hmm...I think this is well deserved.
They might as well have started at #1, though, because as you go down the list, it can become more cluttered. This is a cool weapon, yeah, but it could have, possibly, missed the list. That gives it more suspense.
However, let's face it, there is no weapon in video games cooler than the X Buster (except maybe the Z Sabre, but its not nearly as many weapons in one). Anything else at the top would be terrible, but after #5, y...
