If anything, console gaming would be phased out first. Well, not actually "phased out", more like made portable...
And even this is quite a ways from happening.
Guys, SSB isn't a traditional fighter, like street fighter.
And one reason people aren't interested is that they are interested in the psp and 3ds.
A Western style release is only one of many factors at play here.
Tales of symphonia!
In fact, There is a disturbing lack of Nintendo rpgs here...
Fire emblem and golden sun. Dragon quest 9, infinite space...
An 8 sideways the symbol for infinity....
I couldn't finish reading this...
Look, everyone does this. Play asia, a hong kong based store does this yearly(at least they did it the past 2 years that I know of.)
@sobari that's what I'm thinking after reading this.
Saying this is offensive is like saying black friday is offensive to Christians.(although, I personally consider BF to be offensive to all of humanity, so maybe it isn't a very good example...)
Edit
Ugh, just rer...
Guys, I think he's/she's joking...
Some Nintendo games will have payed dlc. Fire emblem releasing in Japan this april will be the first. (Supposedly)
However, their stance is that dlc should add to a complete game, and while they want 3rd party devs to have freedom over their own dlc plans they will only allow companies they trust greater freedom in dlc plans, unless it disadvantages the user to greatly.(or something like that...)

Well, that kind of goes without saying.

The thing about this quote though is that it's hardly an announcement, as it was just a passing comment as part of an answer to an interview question. It is hardly common (or smart) to announce or reveal the existence of someone elses product in a basic interview.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this was just speculation on his part.
MH alone won't "save" the vita anymore. The only reason it saved the psp was because you couldn't get it on the ds at all, and that's no longer the case.
It will always be a system seller no matter where it lands, but its impact will be nowhere near what they used to be for Sony's consoles.
Poor sales of the vita stem from multiple factors, not just one.
Strong competition: the 3ds had to compete with the psp(and in some ways the ps3). Now, the vita has to face the psp renaissance at its peak and the 3ds coming into its own, both of which have larger libraries and cheaper costs.(and once again, the ps3 is also cutting in to potential market share to a lesser degree.)

The gap between the #2 and #3 spots is quite large.
Although, the install base of the ps3 and 3ds is much larger than the psv, so it's not to surprising.
I think tales of innocence sold to a lot fewer than 10% of Japan's population...
I hope this is some kind of typo...
@gribble
Actually, from what I've seen him/her post in the past this comment is rather conservative and rational.
Monster hunter only carried the psp because the only way to play it was on the psp.
A vita MH will push systems, but don't expect nearly the same effect now that gamers have multiple platform choices.
The rise most likely coincides with/may actually be caused by one of these very games: tales of innocence r.
It was in the top 5 software ( I think at 4, I'm going to check this now.)
Edit~
#3. Here are the top 5, from #1~5:
Armored Core V ps3
Resident Evil: Revelations. 3ds
Tales of Innocence R Vita
Mario Kart 7 3ds
Monster Hunter 3G. 3ds
I really wish Captain Rainbow came out over here...
And that they'd make a new AW... And GS...
It sucks that these weren't included in the ambassador gba games.
I take your comment as a complement.
I also think the wiiu will be powerful enough for me. ^_^
I'm around world 5~6 with 130 some lives.
Needless to say, my little sisters have a lot less than that.
That's why extra lives still... uh, live. Some people aren't as good or consistent at games as others.
