Microsoft is losing money on their 360 as well, Especially the arcade- they count on most people buying the elite - after suckering them in on $199. Blu ray drives will eventually come close to matching dvd drives, and by then MS will have to take big loses to be price competitive with PS3(by price competitive i mean by having a $50 lead). Microsoft may cut the price next year, but they will take losses because of it.

I think it is true that Sony did kind of blow it this gen, (business-wise, not quality-wise) They're going to want to keep as much market share as they can and keep the PS brand strong. Next Gen is when they'll focus on profitability. I believe they'll stay price aggressive the rest of this gen, until they launch ps4. I don't see a $199 drop, but I do see a $249 drop/w LBP bundle to counter Natal.
If gears3 is announced, would anyone actually expect the graphics to be any less muddy or any better than the first game? I don't think that they're really changing the UE3 that much, but I'm sure they'll say they are at GDC. Admit it the games always sold on graphics.
It's about time /6... game has been out for over 14 months, and now finally they're adding maps. 7 maps was not enough, I'm hoping 12 will rejuvenate this game, but I know it probably won't. I know this game was a 'budget' game but most people don't realize that cause they paid $60 for the headset bundle- 7 maps doesn't cut it if you want to keep your fan base playing.
Yakuza 3 will be much more widely reviewed, and from what I've played will get much better reviews, there's a big difference.
I really wish this game had co-op. Right now there's just too much coming out at the same time as it that I'll have to wait on buying it.
It's debatable who's got the better online service, MS's online is more integrated into the experience, and has a more cohesive system for viewing what your friends do. Sony has Home, MS has avatars - you can't really argue avatars are better without looking like a fool (one offers a massive world to run around in full of mini games and allows you to furnish virtual apartments, the other is there for dress-up/extra revenue.)
