I agree the story came off as 'standard fare,' but it wasn't terrible, I would say it's well above average for an FPS I'd wish GG would have dug into and explained some of the excellent backstory of the killzone universe - it's very well imagined. Sadly you have to do a separate trip to Killzone.com to find out about it, which no one did.

I don't think anyone played Afrika to be disappointed by it. Most people that bought it were the people that were looking for something different and had lots of appeal to.
I've noticed this too, it's the 360 fans, They'll give credit to Uncharted 2, but not Killzone 2. Go look at the gamespot votes on goty candidates, most of the voters are 360 fans, somehow whenever uncharted2 comes up they'll give credit where it's due - whenever it's another ps3 game, no votes.

Most of us 'in the know' on the web do buy the game, the people that don't buy it are the casual people that buy GTA4, CoD, EASports games and maybe MGS4, Final Fantasy. This game needs polish bad, I'm in the beta - they can't release it in the state its in now, lots of framerate jumps/loading time, and the network support seems laggy. I hope the price isn't because they intend to release it like it is. It's still a beta though so that could change, and hopefully it will.
Sounds like I'll get frustrated trying to make myself, cause there's never enough sliders to ever do it accurately. I wonder if this game will really take off on PS3, now that we got the hard drive and online standard. SE could budget price this game or even eventually give it out free with monthly subscriptions.

9.5 and 8.2 is quite a significant difference considering IGN reviews on a 7-10 scale. It's like the 360 version was reviewed with a Xbox fan's perspective, and the PS3 version was reviewed with a PS3 fan's perspective. Maybe one system has better quality titles to compare to so on that system so it gets a lower score.

The funny thing is these aren't reviews, the guys arn't pressured into giving better scores, or saying somethings great when it isn't because of financial interests for the website. You get to see the Gamespot staff showing their professionalism right now. Although the final GOTY might have some catering to certain publishers. I'm really wondering if they gave this to KZ2 because they're giving MW2 GOTY, although previous awards seem to point MW2 doesn't have a chance.
He's wrong about the reasoning that JRPGs are on the decline. Square-Enix and Namco-Bandai took the bribes and sold out against the only non-handheld platform that was supporting them for the last two generations. In turn they sold out against their fans, and people(Japanese) won't buy in to PS3 because it has few JRPGS.

Finally gets credit, where credit is due. The game introduced a lot that was new to shooters, and gave it's own feel without strictly copying other game's formulas.
I think the reality about People liking CoD MW2 so much is the 'everyone has it' factor. It's really the only game I can play with all my friends, my bro ect. And playing with friends is always the best way to go. I prefer a lot of other online games over it, but it always gets played cause everyone has it.

The reality is Microsoft won't let this happen. It would undoubtedly educate 360 owners that PS3 owners actually don't pay for online. You can imagine the smack talk, and every single ps3 owner would be slamming the fact MS charges for online, and what is essentially the same thing that Sony offers. Until Microsoft stops selling the illusion that their service is better than Sony's, this will never happen. Xbox live is a closed network.

PS3 fans, Don't buy a PS3 port if it comes later; it only will lead to more of these timed exclusivity deals that are causing all kinds of bs in the industry. It will also mean Microsoft would have to pay more for full exclusivity next time they try to do one of these.
Games with co-op on one tv are a great way to make friends, and odds are these people will enjoy games as much as you do - you probably should buy a couple so you can invite people over to game it up. That usually beats taking turns.
