If a games not much to look at they're probably better off delaying the announcement or showing the game till just before launch, kind of what Microsoft has been doing with most of their franchises. That way fewer people have actually seen the game in action, and instead just buy on name/hype or boxart. After all, showing a game early allows it to be scrutinized and when we can't play it, our opinions form mostly out of what it looks like - and everyone's looking out for bullshot...
@Omega 1-4 years from now you yourself will be eating your words playing a 3D video game WITH 3D Glasses on. If people will sit through a 3 hour movie with 3D glasses on no reason they can't play games for that long. It seems like a more natural fit for gaming to be honest. Microsoft's going to reveal technology 'they' developed yea right - maybe something they bought, but we'd heard of it by now if it was out there.
Yea I won't have a new 3d TV myself any time soon, but once I do get one in due time - I can't see how it wouldn't be awesome, unless the graphics were significantly paired down to achieve it.
The rumor was based off Gamespot.com staff guesses, they did the same thing last year apparently from what I've read.
I think they'll wait another year to see if MS and Sony can really start digging into their casual market-share. Nintendo seems to be making too much money right now to preemptively strike with a new console -that seems like too much of a risk for such a profitable console.
Sony and MS don't really see motion control as the future, I think they're both just trying to go after the wii/casual base that seems to be the biggest market to sell games to that's left. Wii owners might be looking for an upgrade by now if the price is right. They couldn't really target that market before at $300+
Even for casuals, will it change much? Are we just going to see more eye-toy minigames, and wiimote game ports?
I agree, I find it kind of stupid that developers often say co-op doesn't fit in with the story or something like that as an excuse not to include co-op. No one cares if the extra guy has any meaning, you just want to play through it together.
I'm willing to bet Sony will adapt the price in order to undercut or match Natal, so even Sony probably doesn't know the price yet. Depends on how much MS is willing to lose per unit on Natal.
If there was a price drop in store they'd announce it early, so it wouldn't be looking like it was a 'reaction' to Microsoft's imminent price drop at E3.
If you go to the neogaf link it says, gamespot did the same thing last year, it's just educated guesses from gamespot.
It says "CECH-2501B is similar to the tested model CECH-2501A except for HDD type"
Does Hard drive 'type' mean different size or could it mean something like a flash based solution? That's what I'm wondering.
The article mentioned there's a debug version of it too, which should only be required if the chips on the motherboard were different, bundling move + camera shouldn't have any effect on the console design itself.
I'm hoping the fact they're showing this right before E3, is a hint that they're going more back to the roots with the franchise.. Still think it would be awesome if they could bundle the first two campaigns on the disk with an improved engine and co-op, and expand on 8player co op mode with new maps and reuse the old ones.
They think they can get the patent by using a '3d' camera and not a '2d' one, because it's obvious that's where this technology would be heading. I just wonder if Sony owns the patents for this type of thing with a '2d' camera. Patents like this are ridiculous.
Well getting a patent really only helps MS cash in and monopolize, it doesn't determine whether Natal succeeds or fails. It seems to me its more about keeping anyone else from being able to do what MS is doing than helping gamers out. Defending a patent like this is more fan-boyish than bashing it.
Gears has Co-op, Killzone has better Multiplayer and campaign. That's how I see it, though Co op is a big plus.
Maybe microsoft knew this was coming, so they had to go forward with natal
show him tigerwoods 2011 and PS move if he golfs.
I don't think Square-Enix will show FFvs13 because it would take some of the limelight away from FF14, they don't want to give the offline final fantasy fans a reason to look past 14. They'll probably have a lot of stuff dedicated to FF14, considering it's supposed to ship this year.
