The more interesting thing for me is how much marketshare MS has lost during that time, Nintendo can be hit or miss with their hardware innovations, but MS makes traditional consoles but loosing steam big time this generation. They are going one way and consumers the other.
Yeah, back then they were hungry and had some smart people at the helm, people like Ed Fries. The original xbox was awesome, unlike Xbox one.
That, or they will increase prices for this service until we reach a point were we are paying more for less, and we will loose all the control and we will no longer own the games. This is MS trying to bring about the changes they tried back in 2013,only now they are masking it in an affordable (for now) service.
I doubt MS will bring positive changes for the consumer, but we will see.
The problem is that they stay at the same retail price for too long, at least with ports they should go down in price.
Leave Xbox alone! *sobs*
Remember BioWare before EA bought them... yeah, it was three guys that had a passion for making games, and they invested all their money to start the company and make that dream come true. That is the differense between BioWare of then and BioWare of now, back then they started with passion, now under EA it starts with "how do we make as much money as possible on this next game". It's not a dream of minds anymore, it's suits with a hunger for that green paper.
The closure of Lionhead Studios is also unforgivable, it was basically the only RPG first party dev Microsoft had. Now they have Forza, Halo and Gears.
Metal Gear Survive feels so uninspired compared to this, it pales in comparison. Konami should feel regret for loosing such a great artist as Kojima.
Impressive numbers, looks like Switch is gaining momentum. Fantastic systems, both killing Xbox on its home turf.
I love the PS4, but I really wanted Nintendo to make a comback and the Switch is on track to become a great system with a lot of great exclusives. I give it to both PS4 and Switch, very different consoles but they are both great in their own right.
Ok mr teddybear, whatever you say.
The progression system is still centered around lootcrates.
At least he considers games to be art, thats something.
As if we didnt have enough multiplayer centric games as it is, and this from a developer with mostly single player games experience. This is not going to end well.
Thats a very good analogy actually.
PlayStation will not stop for anything, just keep going month after month.
I did the same in Oblivion, had my character swim into a wall with a rubberband.
Consumer trust is important, I will never trust MS again after that DRM fiasco.
The market grew by a lot when Sony entered the picture, they helped make gaming mainstream. So comparing systems past Playstation 1 era to those consoles released after in terms of sales in not always the best method to determine success. Nintendo dominated 8 bit and 16 bit but not in europe, they are back strong however, and Sony is dominating. Xbox on the other hand...
