I think you're missing the point of my comment. Yes, he should keep the story as big of a mystery as he can because as we all know, his games are very story driven. What I'm saying is he needs to tell us what kind of game it actually is. Is there combat, what does that look like, how does it play, what do you do in the game. Those type of details to keep people interested in the game itself without telling us too much about why we are doing those things.
I don't think the "weird" stuff is the issue. The issue is, we don't know what kind of game it is and Kojima is using the "weird" stuff to keep people interested instead of showing what it is. He's going overboard and now people are even more confused. And when he finally does reveal some real gameplay, it's going to shatter a lot of over hyped expectations.
I agree that Kojima games are usually stealth focused but I disagree with where you think the complaints are coming from. We know what kind of games he makes and we've known this was PS4 exclusive for a while now. My issue with it is I feel like he using the mystery behind what the game actually is to drive the hype for it instead of telling us what kind of game it is and keeping the story details a mystery. Like clearly people have questions and the latest trailer answered pretty much no...
Yeah I'd expect them to have realized this by now but clearly 5 and 6 exist haha. I had a ton of fun playing 4 but to me it's not a RE game. If there is a shop you can upgrade your guns at, it's not a RE game. Can't lie though, the merchant in RE4 is probably the best part of that game. "WHADDYA BUYIN'?!"
Agreed. Why show Metroid Prime 4 at the last e3 if even a year later they weren't even going to have a trailer to show. At least mention it or something. I haven't really had any intention of buying Switch anyways since I was able to play Zelda on the Wii U (which it turned out was not my favorite Zelda game to say the least). And considering Smash Ultimate is just an updated version of Smash U, they really didn't bring anything enticing to win me over as a Wii U owner. As far as ...
I was skeptical about the first person view as well but I feel like that was just because I expected it to be third person like the Witcher. After reading the comments of people who played the demo, it seems like they have something that plays faster than Dues Ex and slower than Borderlands. Which to me is fine. I would be perfectly happy with something similar to the way Borderlands plays. I also imagine that since it is all about customization, the play style will differ from person to pers...
The flute and banjo playing was straight up terrible. I'm sorry but both segments were a complete waste of time and didn't add anything to the presentation. Came off way too pretentious and up their own asses imo. I liked that they mostly showed games with actual gameplay but both times they had people playing instruments I just kept thinking when is this going to end so I can see the actual games.
I think it's still way too early to actually judge what Death Stranding is. Don't get me wrong, I was extremely underwhelmed at what they showed. They are trying to ride out the mystery behind what the game is to keep people hype but at this point my hype is dying and I'm becoming uninterested.
Back to the article though I think Sony came out way too pretentious with the musical acts. They showed a ton of gameplay which is great and what I wanted to see but man they were ...
I mean, don't buy their stuff if you don't like what they put out. They are never going to listen to what their fans want if they buy their products regardless. When sales start to dip then maybe they'll start listening to what people actually want.
Honestly as long as the focus is on survival and inventory management I could care less where the camera is. The thing that sucked going from RE3 to RE4 was that 4 was like a run and gun 3rd person shooter and wasn't really focused on survival as it was upgrading guns and blasting hordes of zombies. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have the fixed angle camera, but I doubt they are ever going to go back to that.
Totally agreed. MS proved to everyone they are invested in building their first party studios and showed some great multiplats (DMC5, Cyberpunk). I honestly thought Sony was really pretentious with the flute and banjo players and all the filler but they really did give us a ton of great gameplay for all of the titles they showcased which to me is what these things are about (that Spiderman gameplay tho!). Nintendo was hands down the worst of the big three.
Seriously I mean they announced it last e3 and still had nothing to show. Not even a trailer. Not even a mention! Nothing complete wiff from Nintendo on that one.
I'm sorry but did you see Spiderman? No way in hell a fancy smash port is better than that.
Yeah I'm not gonna pretend I'm not biased against Nintendo but EA was easily the worst. Still think Nintendo are complete idiots for not showing anything about Prime 4.
With what? A half hour of a fancy smash port? They announced Prime 4 last e3 and didn't even put a trailer up? That was a complete miss to me. Mario Party and Fire Emblem were about the only good things they showed.
Feel the same way man. It might not be a direct port, but for all intents and purposes this is the same smash that's on Wii U. I mean come on. Smash U... Ultimate? Basically the same game but with more characters and stages.
I mean I don't think people want the story spoiled but we at least want to know what the game actually is. This trailer showed us nothing but a bunch of walking, some weird cryptic shit about the world and a tiny bit of actual stealth gameplay. They need to give us more info
Looks similar to Quantum Break and I never played that one. And yeah Death Stranding was a huge letdown. What they showed was boring and still extremely vague. We still have no idea what that game could possibly be and at this point I'm not even really that interested anymore. It's just getting too weird.
I felt the same way too but honestly it didn't look bad. As long as the main focus is survival and not the crazy action like RE4 I'll be happy.
@gamerzero Is it though? Kojima himself said that combat isn't mandatory, does that make it action? Is it an adventure where I'm exploring an open world or is it a mostly linear adventure? Sure, yes we know it's 3rd person. But that still tells us barely anything about, again, what the game actually is. I'm not saying the guy needs to spoil every last detail about the game but I'd like to have some kind of expectation as to what kind of game it is.
