@Zod
You could easily have a PC priced around 500usd, featuring a real desktop CPU.
Clearly going for tablet CPUs was due to cost reasons. Looks like a corporate profit decision to me.
@Grizzli
Its not just the sound, AC outclasses GT6 in just about every category be it Physics, Graphics. Next to AC, GT6 is arcadish made for the masses.
The only area GT6 would win would be content. Give it time, AC is still in beta. AC has full mod support with thousands of modders behind it, content will be the last thing that will be in shortage.
Its amazing what a modding community can do for a game, just check out what happened with Sk...
Assetto Corsa makes GT6 look like a Simcade.
No MP3 support cant do anything about it,
No DLNA support cant do anything about it,
Take away other OS cant do anything about it,
Charge to go online must comply,
No support for external hardrive cant do anything about it,
No bc cant do anything about it.
No Mod support cant do anything about it.
Developer wont fix a broken game cant do anything about it.
List goes on, you have no freedom or say on the hardware you buy ...
Np there must be some hack out to circumvent the DRM.. oh wait its a console, no freedom of speech.
SEN/PSN is run by a bunch of monkeys.
Good job Valve and congrats on the 65 Million figure.
What i find spectacular this is all on a single platform. Plus it doesnt reset like in the case of the consoles. Where PS4 and XBone will need to make a user base from zero.
Steam numbers keep growing, PC probably will be a strong contender next gen. Specially since Sony and MS are now so much behind Steam with their new consoles.
I personally have 3 friends who went PC gaming with Steam t...
Naa none of the Next gen consoles have any games worth mentioning. The handful dont really warrant 400-500usd purchase.
Ill just stick to my PC.
Why doesnt he ever discuss the CPU and GPU :S i wonder.
I must say it amazes me why so much focus on the RAM alone. Its nothing special GDDR5 has been in the market since 2009, though it would be interesting to hear what CPU GPU tech they bring to the table.
Maybe he intends to leave that task to some PC site like Anandtech, Tomshardware or Hardocp.
Well even the PS4 wont be pushing 4k games. Will need a PC to run games in 4k on Sony 4k tvs.
Hence when thinking of 4k TVs both the consoles will be redundant in that context.
Not a problem get 3x R9 290's in Crossfire and you are close to 17 TFLOPS of power :P Probably hit 18 TFLOPS with a bit of overclocking probably eclipse it lol.
Will cost about 1500usd though Not bad to have power that may be available on the next consoles when they launch in 7-8 years time.
1.84 TFLOPS would be the entire PS4 CPU GPU included, not just the GPU.
In comparison 200usd GPUs such as the R9 270 are pushing near 2.8 TFLOPS just to give you an idea how the PS4 stacks up to modern tech.
@theendgame
Sorry my bad its 1.84 for the GPU, still a far cry from whats out there though.
Well considering most PCs are office and home PC which arent ment for gaming yea it will outperform those.
However any PC with a half decent GPU will wipe the floor with the PS4. By half decent i mean anything featuring a 250usd GPU. GTX 760 being an example.
Heck PS4 isnt even out yet, 5 months later by the time it is, PC parts will again give you much more power for lower amount of money. No way consoles can compete and it really isnt about the power either...
Times have changed ever since the Wii, Nintendo platform is increasingly dependent on 1st party games. Nintendo platforms hardly see any multiplat games.
The new big 3 that receive all the multiplats are Xbox, PC and PS.
@president
PS4 isnt out yet, its still got 5 months before release. PC tech constantly evolves.
Everyone knows the CPU in the PS4 and Xbox one are weak. So its just the GPU side. You can pretty much bet any 250usd GPU will be outperforming the PS4 at launch. few months further down the line it just wont be a contest any more as better PC tech roles out.
"aren't realising that a console operates differently and so much more can be achieved with that than on a pc with the same specs."
The keyword here being SAME SPEC, you need to realise, 8GB RAM on PC has been pretty standard for the last few years. Today PCs are pushing above 16GB of RAM since its so cheap. GPU are coming equipped with super fast 3-6GB of GDDR 5 RAM. Hence making an arguement of same spec is not valid. You'd have to make a last gen PC to ma...
@windblowsagain
Games bought on Steam discounts are bought at extreme discounts, no point reselling them.
Infact they can be seen as a collection. I have over 200 of them on my Steam library, most of them bought on discounts. I am happy i can play them for decades to come. No concern not being able to play them the next time i upgrade.
Unlike console where there is no BC.
Lol Developers didnt use PS3 as lead no matter how hard Sony tried. Infact Sony had to change and adobt the X86 Archtecture because devs just wouldnt optimize for PS3.
This was a big defeat for Sony and MS having to finally got X86. What happens now, games are coded for PC then ported to consoles, its simply easier that way for developers.
@Theblackstone
Pretty much any low to mid range PC these days can play games in 1080p. If anyone is interested in gaming on PC they will atleast get a half decent GPU. You dont really need a monster PC to max games out. People going for the highest end of hardware are only going for bragging rights or may be interested in multiscreen gaming.
@panthers
Anyone half interested in PC gaming would have a 200usd GPU atleast, which would be more th...
@r2oB
I think decrypt pretty much covered everything.
Though i got to ask, since when does a PS3 last 7 - 8 years. Most people would need to go through at least 2-3 PS3s to last that long. Add all of that up its easily the price of a high end PC, without any of the benefits.
Meanwhile a 1000usd PC will easily last 5-7 years with a little maintenance. Add in whatever decrypt said and the cost argument is in the PCs favor.
