Microsoft's image was tarnished years ago because of their shady business practice's and it would take a long time to turn that around. So far as iconic brands then it would have to be Halo. If you stood in a town centre with two life size carboard cutouts of Marcus Fenix and Master Chief and asked people to identify them or to link them to a brand then I would say more people would recongnise Master Chief as belonging to Microsoft.

They were a lot less arogant when I met them at E3 '06 and they were showing Crysis for the first time.

Microsoft screw every last penny out of their customers. The cost of a wifi adaptor is a joke. I remember when I first had my 360 a few months after launch and paid £60 for it. I recently bought another 360 (I went through 2 RROD's and traded my old premium model in 18 months ago but decided to buy a 360 again to go with my PS3 when they dropped in price)and its dropped to £45 now depending on where you buy but its still a rip off compared to regular PC wifi adaptors.

The Elite certainly does not have integrated wifi

I just wish they would all shut up and do their jobs though it has to be said it must be hard to do that when Microsoft are continually sniping with brash claims that editors of game sites take as the gospel truth. Looking back at the news this generation it always seems to revolve around Greenberg of Kim slinging mud first, two wrongs don't make a right but can't we have just a little integrity?

The flip side to his argument would be that you don't have to chat to the muppets you find online. Yes it can be a method of cheating but that is up to the game developers to stop not Microsoft. The developer knows the features on offer to players through the XBOX Live system and should therefore code in ways to stop people cheating by disabling ghost modes.

They deserve some respect for entering a tough market and in only their second generation strongly contending with their rivals. They deserve some respect for the way they have pushed multiplayer gaming forward on the console format and forced their competitors to compete and innovate. They lose respect though for the shoody hardware and the poor way in which they treat their customers as we've heard all to often.

Of course Microsoft will deny it, they have already lost a fortune on the RROD fiasco. I've never had a disc scratch but I've gone through two RROD's. As the programme prooved its not about lifting or moving your XBOX 360 but just a small vibration from a book being dropped gently onto the same table as the machine can cause it to scratch the disc or the small vibration from people moving about playing games like Guitar Hero. That is unacceptable.

Because a lot of people here are tired of the garbage posted from HHG intended to inflame and create hits for his site rather than post credible articles. The site that posted this article doesn't get into the silly 'console wars' or has a reputation for posting inflammatory stories to generate hits. Its a racing game site that is looking at different racing games. For what its worth I saw nothing wrong with your article so perhaps you might choose a more credible site to get your work publis...

Hmm yes I agree with the above comments that neither Left 4 Dead or Mass Effect are exclusive but I'm surprised not to see mention of quality games like Forza 2 or perhaps the PGR series. Had it been my list and I felt the need to include an arcade title in there then I think I would have put Geometry Wars in place of Braid.

I'm not sure about the logic of including a 360/PC game in that article but yes I'll certainly take a look at any NFS:Shift demo available. In the past a NFS game would be a no brainer, I'd buy it but the series has declined into a schoolboys wet dream with the emphasis moving to scantily clad women, shiny alloy wheels and neon lighting. I own a 360, PC and PS3 and so enjoy a variety of games from the serious racers like iRacing to the arcade racers like PGR4. Forza 2 is a great game and has ...

It must be a slow news week if this site has suddenly realised Microsoft rip users off with the cost of peripherals. I've just bought a 500GB 2.5" SATA drive for my PS3 for £10 less than the cost of the 120GB HDD here in the UK. Same goes for the £35 headset compared to the ability to use any Bluetooth headset on the PS3 - though even the official PS3 headset which is far better quality than the 360 one and its cheaper.

Typical Labour MP/MEP. She's riding the unelected gravy train in Brussels but still finds time to back yet another barmy cause which fits with Labours nanny-state mentality. God this country makes me sick!

This article is just another reason why this sites needs a site blacklist that automatically fails articles from certain sites like Hiphopgamer, Bruceongames, Hardcore Christian Gamer etc

Maybe Microsoft are not taking further orders right now so they can run down stock on the existing models using the older chipset ready for when its replaced by an Elite with the Jasper chipset?

If thats not the reason then I don't see why they would discontinue a model that still sells. I bought an Elite recently as my re-entry into 360 gaming after an 18 month break. The only dissapointing thing about the Elite is the lack of black accessories. No black Wifi adaptor, no black...

So this is another case of 'The Consumerist' defending the infinite stupidity of the general public at large. I remember all the XBOX fanboys jumping all over their PS3 story a while ago and then went quiet when it was revealed just how filthy the PS3 was when it got back to the repair centre, for those who don't remember it looked like the user had been digging the garden with it. Now we have criticism of Microsoft and the XBOX fanboys call foul. Sites like The Consumerist fight for those wh...

I recently walked into a local Gamestation shop to buy Halo Wars, the staff are friendly and I've had some good game related conversations in there but I still have doubt over whether they are giving me a used copy when they reach into that drawer behind the till. They are probably not but the perception is that you buy a new game and its wrapped and sealed. A lot of other retailers do this, they will have a certain amount of boxes on the shelf which you take to the counter and they give you ...

Its hard to believe Microsoft could find someone to make their image even worse than when Bill Gates was in charge. I didn't like or dislike the guy but he seemed to attract a hell of a lot of negative feeling and so when he left you had to wonder if someone could come in and maybe help change Microsoft's image but no they stuck with good old Steve Ballmer. Why do the top brass at MS feel they have to be so outspoken? If its not Steve Ballmer its Shane Kim or Aaron Greenberg puffing out their...

Its a valid article, yes they do go wrong and more importantly in the 360's case they have a high rate of failure. Thats not to say the PS3 doesn't have issues and an article of how the Blu-Ray may fail or you could get the yellow light of death would be just as valid though to be fair to Sony their consoles problems don't appear to be at such a high rate as Microsoft's. I had two RROD's and traded my third 360 in for a PS3 and have recently bought a 360 again. Unfortunately consumer electron...

I diasgree about it being a "quick and dirty attempt to clone what Epic was doing with Unreal at the time." because it lacked most of what Unreal Tournament had in terms of gameplay. Quake 3 was a glorified tech demo, a showcase for their engine. Everyone wowed at the lighting and curved walls etc, something that had not been seen before. Quake 3 was a quick and dirty attempt but it was an attempt to showcase and sell a game engine rather than focus on gameplay.
