Awhile back there was a show on G4(this was when the channel was all about games and didn't suck) called Icons which would focus on a person or series in the gaming industry that could be considered a Icon.
In the Final Fantasy episode multiple people from Square admitted that game was named Final Fantasy because it was to be Square's last game. At the time the company was in massive debt and they had no way out. They named the game Final Fantasy because it was to be ...
Sakaguchi never said The Last Story was his last game.
He said he was putting his all into and that it would seem from that angle it was his last game because of giving his all. However he then later commented that he does the same thing on nearly every game he makes and always feels as if it will be his last but it never is.
Hideo Kojima has a similar thought process which is why he keeps saying he is done with MGS but then goes back to it over and over. I...
Is it in any way odd that it makes me angry MS is trying to sell this broken pile of crap to people?
They were not even doing anything and it could not keep up accurately it's pathetic.
I honestly and truly feel sorry for any person who buys this or gets this as a gift this holiday it's just.......sad....
A hobo on the street is more legit then Sankakucomplex. They do nothing but make stories to grab hits.
@darkfiber
You are such a troll. You come into every story on XIV and bash it and never have any bases for it other then saying "I was in the Beta" Which doesn't make what you say true.
I have been playing the open Beta and I think the game is pretty good. It does certainly have it's issues but last I checked that's the whole point of a beta. Getting feedback and getting things fixed and there are updates every single day since the Open ...
Having played the beta I can tell you this total BS.
The areas are far from copy and paste. Some of the areas have similar looks like they both have mountain like areas with grass but that's about it. I have not seen anything that would make me go "Oh look they just copied that texture and pasted it over there" There is nothing like that there. And the zones themselves are very different as well.
It's obvious that whoever is in charge at S...
I would be willing to bet that had SE stayed in the movie business they would have vastly surpassed anything from the studios you mention.
Final Fantasy The Sprites Within was mind blowing when it came out. It still looks better then a large amount of the stuff being released now and it's more then 5 years old. It failed horribly because it wasn't animation for children and at the time stuff from Dreamworks and Pixar was big but from a purely technical standpoint The ...
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is such a incredible movie both in terms of the animation itself and the awesome story. Everything in that movie is just so incredibly well done.
I would love to see it on Blu-ray at some point but for now the DVD is WELL worth the purchase.
While I agree that Avatar The Last Airbender was a incredible show it is was ONE out of hundreds of crap American animation shows for kids. And more adult shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons which no one would argue is crappy animation(those shows rely on their writing)
The level of Quality Japanese animation of a similar or higher caliber to Avatar is much higher so Japanese animation still wins.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. At the time I was both a PC gamer and a console gamer and was wondering why the game was so popular when games like Quake were around. It made no sense to me.
I never liked the game. The way it controlled was a total WTF to me. I could not for the life of me understand why they thought it a good idea to have the reticule revert back to the middle of the screen instead of having it remain in the middle and having the player move the entire screen more like today. It wasn't until the more modern shooters started appearing on PS2 and Xbox that I found console FPS to be acceptable. Before that it was all Doom, Quake and Half-life for me.
@Montoya
Yeah in my opinion Rage looks miles better then Crysis 2. Easily.
Not to mention something needs to be said for art style. Sure Crytek can make some pretty good tech and engines but they have a crap generic art style and having a blah art style doesn't help the engine at all.
Good example of this is something like Eternal Sonata on 360. Sure from a tech standpoint the engine that powers that game is not all to impressive but bec...
If they are basing this off of Crysis 2 then I need to take a minute and laugh.
Yeah the game looks decent but it's not the best looking game on EITHER console. Not even close.
The PS3 still has a crap load of hidden power and the 360 probably still has a bit left as well.
No it's not. This is a crap article that is sourcing a hit grabbing websites fake news story that is spinning the merger of Atlus in a negative way that is in no way true.
As far as I was aware there was not gonna be a name change. The company as a whole would no longer use the ATLUS name however the name would still be branded on the games they made and released. This is what the original article mentioning the merge said. Which at the end of the day makes sense. From a business view it doesn't make sense to keep the name after a merger but from the consumer side the name needs to be there.
@Sarick
I assure you I have not just had minor issues with the game. I had similar credit card problems when I decided to return to the game after a 6 month break and when I came back getting a credit card to work seemed nearly impossible(due to something new being used on cards now called 3D secure)
When I had this problem I merely called up the SE customer service explained the problem and got a logical response. The guy on the line told me it's someth...
@Sarick
While I won't debate that the Final Fantasy XI customer service isn't the best(far from it) you make it sound WAY worse then it really is. They are quite helpful all the time and every time I have called needing help with something they have been extremely helpful and even bypassed certain things to help me get playing again. I know it's not that way for everyone but I have been pleased. More of the issue comes from the total failfest that is the PlayOnlin...
on average I would kind of agree about the whole tech thing but overall there is tech in Japanese games that seems better then anything western devs are doing. And oddly enough most of that tech is coming out of SE.
Final Fantasy XIV from a technical perspective is easily the best looking MMO of all time and while from a art style standpoint one may prefer something like TERA you cannot deny that the TECH behind FFXIV is the best a MMO has ever seen.
On a sim...
Of course it's fair. Anyone who has played FFXI will know that SE REALLY supports the game. They have updates every month or 2 and these updates add crap loads of content(sometimes more then other MMO's full expansions)
When you take that into account as well as the fact that the fee is cheaper then most subscription MMO's yeah it's really fair.
@JohnApocalypse
There goes idiots with false info again.
I really am wondering if the game will hold up today.
They said one of the reasons the game never got finished at 3D realms was because they would see something else cool that another game did and try to add something like that into the game and in that process just could not keep up. They wanted to make the best game of all time and in that process just got caught up with the whole image of perfection.
My question is when they stopped working on the game whe...
