Graphics and what not are not why this is a important thing. This will allow game developers be in a small team big team or just a single person to gave complete and total freedom over what they make.

Some of the best games I have played over the last few years haven't been pushing any tech barriers or anything but that doesn't mean they are not awesome. Stuff like Fez, Bastion, Braid, Limbo and Journey as awesome simply because of how unique and different they are ...

Yeah it's amazing how open he has been. I have to tell you after years of Final Fantasy XI it's very refreshing to see him be so open about XIV and the issues that plague it and how he intends to deal with them.

I know people have said over and over that MMO's don't get a second chance but I think there is a really good chance that FFXIV will survive just because Yoshida is at the helm.

I understand alot of the points this article brings up but I don't really agree(aside from when a game has bad acting) When done right voice acting can bring a character to life more then simple text can. For example playing Tales of Vesperia all the little jokes the characters share between them and the myriad of after battle quotes bring them to life and that is just outside the main story which of course is enhanced with voice over(again assuming it's not bad).

I h...

I'm just hoping they fixed it while they were updating it. I mean the original release ruined the music by making it midi and the game was plagued by a ton of bugs the PSone version didn't have.

I would love to know if this game is ever gonna get a official US release. I know there are a few modders who plan on modding the current client to make most of it English but really a official release would be better.

There are plenty of folks myself included who have fond memories of the original and would love to take part in this version.

I just don't want studios outside Japan touching FF. People complain now but imagine something happening to FF like what is happening to DMC right now.

Also the title of the article is somewhat misleading. SE isn't talking about giving another studio the franchise. They are talking about having other studios do contract work to help with development. They already did this with XIII-2 as Tri-Ace helped with that and I think they want to do more of that in the future t...

@Snookies12

Really did you read what you wrote? Not only would it not be easy to remake the game(we will get to that in a moment) but you honestly think the game can get by WITHOUT a script rewrite and VO? Have you played the original game recently? The dialog was riddled with horrible translation errors. People don't seem to remember just how bad FFVII's original translation was. On top of that nearly every RPG has VO these days so releasing a remake of one of the bi...

As tigertron said when Versus was FIRST shown it wasn't the crystal tools engine that made people stand up and take notice. It was the very dark tone it had that was very different for a FF game. For the first year or 2 we didn't have anything aside from a CGI trailer and then we started to see the in game shots and yes they were gorgeous.

Crystal Tools had it's issues but it still looked great FFXIII was beautiful. Yeah it had it'...

I'm honestly surprised. I had assumed there would never be another expansion for the game as the last few years had them doing smaller add ons for lower prices. But it's pretty cool of them to keep supporting the game.

A few things I saw over on the official FFXI site says one of the new jobs is Geomancer(the other isn't shown yet) and it doesn't list the PS2 as a supported platform so they might be pulling support of that platform so they can keep the game a...

I don't know I could see Versus XIII going next gen. Awhile back Nomura said they were using bits and pieces of the Luminous engine that SE just showed off at E3 in Versus(I think he mentioned using the lighting tech from the engine) and if that is true I could see them putting the game off until next gen to say make it a PS4 launch title so it could use more of the engine and look even better.

But at the same time it would make sense to try and get it out on PS3 because...

Looking at the comparison the PS3 version does indeed look better. It looks a bit sharper then the Wii U version and the overall detail is a bit higher. It also looks like there is a bit of aliasing on the Wii U version(particularly around the ears or pointy whatever you call of on Batman himself)

The thing with the Wii U for me is that more powerful or not Nintendo NEEDED to prove that not only was it gonna be worth buying but that it could compete with the next gen console...

I think it's pretty close to what we will see from actual game play for a few reasons. First and this is the big one is thinking back to that FF7 Tech demo. Games can look about that good. For example Beyond looks better then that FF7 tech demo did and that is a current gen game.

2nd SE has stated in the past that they wanted to create a engine that would blur the line between games and CGI and this is pretty much it. It makes sense when you think about it. Those CGI cut ...

I hear ya it's such a shame I was excited to see it and when I did I thought of 2 other games. 1 it looked like it plays like gears now(not a bad thing but this is supposed to be a Dead Space game) and 2 it looked like a Lost Planet setting(because of the snow although i'm sure the entire game will have different areas)

Makes me sad I was pretty excited to see it and now it's kinda meh for me. Funny thing is I was watching the EA presser on Spike and before it st...

there are a ton of miku fans in the US for sure and I'm one of them however I don't know if many of those fans have access to go to a trade show like E3 so I don't think it's the smartest place to gauge interest on the game.

Still I hope they release it in the US at some point. It really would not be to hard. Just translate the interface and done no one wants the songs changed or anything so it would be pretty easy to make and they could probably even releas...

Joystiq just published another article saying that despite there being a demo at E3 the game is not planned for a north american release and was intended as a sneak peek for the Japanese release.

It certainly had the visual style of a FF game but when I saw terrorists with AK's I thought the same thing. Still it looked stunning and if that really was real time I can't wait to see what they can make on next gen consoles with it.

SE stated over at the lode stone site that they had planned to release a new trailer at E3 but they instead decided it would be best to wait a bit so they could release a flood of info regarding 2.0 instead of a trickle.

My main issue is they made it quite clear(or seemed to) that would couldn't play the game with a normal controller. I loved playing Pikmin but I don't want to fall into all this gimmicky play style with the new controller. I liked how I used to play it and I want that option. What is the point of Nintendo having this new "Pro Controller" if they are not gonna let every game use it. If they truly want the Wii U to succeed with the core market they need to make every game play...

I would love if that were the case. Half-Life 2 was STUNNING when it came out because of the first source engine and if they can get the same awe with a new engine for Half-life 3 it will be really incredible.

I mean the source engine aged pretty well it is still capable of making some beautiful games. So it excites me what a new engine from Valve would be able to achieve. One can only hope.

While Cole appears to die in the good ending there is a good chance he isn't dead. There is a split second frame where lightning strikes the boat his body is on and it forms a "?" pretty much implying the series is being left open.

As long as Cole remains alive there are myriad ways that Sucker Punch could continue the series.

Personally InFamous 3 or new IP I can't wait Sucker Punch is one of my favorite Studio...
