I think Digital Foundry forgets that the GPU itself has internal multiple levels of texture cache made especially for not having to read textures from main memory over and over again while doing AF. You read once from SDRAM / GDDR5 then texturing is done from this memory (faster than eSRAM!)

If this had been an EA game it would have been a confirmation of bad netcode...
But this is actually way to get balanced game play and a reason for upgrading weapons. The skill is to be play good enough to get more accurate weapons...

"The only thing separating this game from other titles on the market, is the Star Wars brand"
Like what titles?
There are few titles where you have all these options.
- 20v20
- vehicles (land and air)
- mounted turrets
- placeable turrets
- counter vehicles weapons
- heroes
- ...
I more complex than your everyday shooter!
It is the opposite of rushing!
You know you are expected to release November 2015.
Can Episode I - VI fit into that? No.
Can Episode IV - VI fit? Yes
DLC? Episode VII or I. No question about it VII.
But when can that be released?
I am pretty sure a select few at DICE have read Episode VII manuscript. Several might have got to modelling specific things.
But probably they are not up to full speed.
Lets wait and compare download sizes... :)
Not rushing. Release planning.
What can we fit in before a November 2015 release?
- how many modes?
- how many maps?
When does it have to be finished, September 2015?
- parts need to be finished earlier, like those shown on E3 or being in the beta.
What should finished teams do when their part is done?
- do DLC! (a level designer has probably worked with Jakku for a long time, another one with Episode VII)
Did you take any uplink or just shooting?
Did you drive any vehicle or just running?
Did you ever get to play hero?
Or did you give up after being shot twice before even seeing your opponents?
I do not really understand the "Oversimplistic" reference.
Compared to what - Halo5, Black Ops 3?
Simplistic in what way?
- objective based
- laser shots have travel time (slower than bullets like the film)
- multiple turrets
- multiple vehicles (air, ground)
- heroes (consider them a vehicle treat that needs to be dealt with)
When I look at Halo and CoD that is when I see simplistic gameplay...
Will you be checking Target regularly now?
(That is how this might turn into a win for them...)
@Halo2ODST2 "Please stop defending this game, when it's obviously the inferior product compared to what we just seen of the REAL BATTLEFROT 3."
Only that Free Radicals could not pull it off! DICE will!
Yea, they had some demo on space to land fighting, but would it really work in game play? What if I do not want to steer towards the tiny area where the land battle rages... What if every pilot wants to leave for space...
Of cause, it will!
A multi-player only game is half and can never reach more than 5/10...
A single-player game with a promised multi-player part is complete and a true 10/10...
:S
I argue for separate multi-player / single-player scores!
$50 is not a microtransaction :)
Team communication with microphones are overrated. No one listens, not even to the in game voice telling you what do do...
And as a non native English speaker I prefer to issue commands in game using my controller - wonder if Battlefront will have it like Battlefield...
@Lordani66 it wants 16 GB System memory...
But maybe you are raising the bar too much?
PS4 is on 900p @ 60 Hz (reports talk about High)
What resolution, frequency, and quality are you testing on PC?
Try 1080p @ 60 Hz and find a quality that fits.
(Default on my PC got me screen resolution, @60, medium - feels a bit over the top)
I think Need for Speed (2015) is going 30 fps 1080p with the same engine... aiming for photorealism...
Bad game play does not make a game broken!
A broken game does not work as intended.
It is $59.88 on PS4
http://www.amazon.com/STAR-...
have you actually played Battlefront or are you just comparing what you have seen?
"should have been story" ...
There is PC Alpha footage on Youtube - does not look broken!
The claim is too low on details to be taken seriously.
- Broken in what way? Crashes or bad game play?
- PC, PS4, or XBox One?
- What game mode?
- What map?
- . . .
Will developers want to use more or less memory in future?
(Rhetorical question)
realism != fun
It is more fun to be able to hit a moving tank while yourself is moving if you have to make manual compensations rather than always hit if you fire with cross hair on target...
Actually you should need to lead the same if the target is moving at full speed or if you is moving at full speed and the target is stationary.
Unless you add a targeting computer...
Then you aim for the target, the target computer measures relative speed and distances, fires at correct angle - the shell curves in and hits the target.

Is it really the number of maps that decides a games content?
- Layout of map
- Static content on map (models, textures, stuff, ...)
- Dynamic content (vegetation, animals, litter, ...)
- Lights and shadows
- is it optimized to minimize artifacts?
=> does the map feel real or like Pac-Man?
Check file sizes if you do not believe you get more content with this one...
