Bloomberg.com projected that Sony's gaming division will lose a billion dollars when the numbers come it. I would imagine that the price cut of the 60gb model is only going to add to the losses. While their revenuse have certainly gone up, that's 100 bucks they're not getting in revenue for each one sold.

I have to wonder how either of them get stakeholders to go along with any of this. I guess that the overall performance of Microsoft and Sony are still ok.

Increased sales is always a sign of failure. Sony's practically going out of business with the PS3 price change.

/sarcasm off

People take this stuff too seriously. I just wish that one format or the other would win because it sucks that there are movies you can get on one format that you can't get on the other.

Because it hit the magic price for me. I believe that the PS3 is going to see this sales spike for a few more weeks, then it will drop off again until the holidays. $499 is still a rather high psychological price point.

Essentially that family lost two children over this. How very terrible.

I hope all is well with his family. If there's an issue there I'm glad he's putting his family first.

I know that Halo 3 is going to be a huge success, but from what I saw of it at E3 it really didn't offer much new over Halo 2. I just don't see much innovation in FPS games these days, although I do have to admit that when I saw COD:4 in action I was a bit impressed.

It is just my opinion, and feel free to disagree, but there are just too many FPS games out there. I guess that it is more cost-effective to create them and eaiser to add online multiplayer to them. But the genre i...

I guess someone feels that there wasn't a lot of good stuff at E3! I guess you can't please everyone.

Thanks for posting it. There was a lot of great stuff at this year's E3. I'm really looking forward to all of the new games.

I hope they can make this as much fun. And it doesn't look too bad, considering it is on the Wii.

The next 6 months are going to be so much fun!

Personally I thought that all three companies put on a good show. Microsoft has some really hot titles coming out before Christmas. Sony has some great stuff that will be out by the end of Q1 '08 (this financial year, according to Phil Harrison). And Nintendo has some good stuff, too.

I don't think that any of the three really blew me away. It seems like once again 2007 is going to be the year of the FPS, as if there aren't enough of them. Sorry, but Killzone is still an FPS in...

At E3 last week, each company pontificated on why they were the dominant player in this generation. They all said that they were leading the way and so on and so forth. I don't see why this statement should bring out the rabid fanboys. The Wii, like the PS3, has an impressive list of upcoming titles. But you have to admit that each system only has had a couple of really good titles so far, so PS3 owners (of which I am one) can't really comment on the Wii from a software perspective.

Why would they continue to manufacture the old one? And why would people be upset if someone says they are stopping production of the old model? It's only natural. They didn't continue to manufacture the fat PS2 when they introduced the slim version. Or the original PlayStation when they introduced the smaller version.

I didn't know this was coming out. I need to pick it up ASAP!

With Sony's catalog of movies this could be a great service for the PSP and PS3. I think it is a preview of the direction that home video distribution is going. Some movies I want to see, and I'll pay 5 bucks to see them. But they aren't all worth a purchase at $25 to $30 on Blu-Ray.

At least from a gameplay perspective. The Xbox 360 version is really good, but I thought it was missing something. I'll probably go with the PS3 version for GH3 so that I can upgrade hardware but keep the great PS2 game. I just hope that the PS3 version is just as good.

But it isn't setting the world on fire, either. It does have a higher market share in stand-alone players, but people with PS3's don't need to buy a standalone player. So I think that statistic may be a bit misleading.

I think the important thing to remember is that content is what sells entertainment technology. Blu-Ray has much more content available than HD-DVD, so that's what is going to determine the outcome of HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray.

I find it interesting, howe...

I think $99 would be worth it whether HD-DVD succeeds or fails. I would get the Matrix trilogy, Fearless, and the first season of Heroes, which is also coming to HD-DVD in August.

I don't know why the idiots are fighting about this.

I would actually screen out stuff that wasn't really news.
