Wow...people upset because the game got a great review. You know, I've never played a game with zero issues. The things that Gamespot picked out are relatively minor. What's the problem?
So what's the question?
That's assuming that $200+ of the PS3's cost is tied up in the Blu-Ray drive alone. You can get a 4x Blu-Ray ROM drive from Newegg.com for $119.
I don't think that the Blu-Ray drive constitutes half the price of the PS3 any more. My guess is that it is really less than $100.
You'd think that with the console being on the market for two years these kinds of hypothetical questions would stop.
I suppose that now we'll see a thread full of "well it shouldn't have broken, anyway" and "PS3's never break" and crap like that. I wish that someone could name one console manufacturer that has never had to repair or replace a failed unit.
RROD was a disaster. Microsoft ponied up the warranty necessary to take care of their customers for 3 years. What else is there to say? What should have happened?
Hindsight is 20/20. I'm sure that if Sega kne...
Why would they put a Blu-Ray recorder in the TV? That just seems weird to me.
I wouldn't buy a TV with a built-in Blu-Ray player. In my own experience the combo devices are a waste because at some point the optical drive fails and then you're left with only a TV. I much prefer the separate units.
I can't think of any features that I need right now. I'm thrilled with the Flash 9 support in the browser. I'm pretty happy with the PS3 right now.
The PS3 install size stories stopped being news 6 months ago. Games install into the PS3 HDD. That's how it works. No need to report every time a game releases.
The most fluid game I've seen on the 360, in all honesty, is DOA4. It moved beautifully at 60 FPS. But I have to admit that it didn't look as good as MGS4 on the PS3.
Well said. Bubble for you.
Not this again. At this point does it really matter? It's been done on the PS3 for a while now and all eyes are looking toward the future. So if it were to come out on the 360 would it really matter?
I think that it would be possible to do, just not on a single disc. The binaries on the Blu-Ray came out to what? 33GB? By compressing the textures and sound data they could probably squeeze that down enough to fit on 3 DVD's, 4 for sure. Sure the textures and sound would suffer some...
Downloading now...
I know what you're saying. As a pure side-scrolling platformer I don't see LBP having lasting appeal. I think that it's long-term appeal is going to lie in the social aspects of the game. I wasn't anticipating it until I saw what could be created. That's what excites me more than the actual side-scrolling gameplay. Combine that with the social aspects and I think that's a good formula.
I don't see it moving tons of hardware, though. Certainly not 500% sales increases.
That's not a bad deal.
So is Microsoft planning on having the next Xbox play current generation titles? I figured with them giving up on BC for the previous Xbox that inter-generational compatibility was over.
I guess that with all things considered this is a pretty decent looking game. It needs more enemies, though.
That's not a bad idea. I think it would be cool if Sony added a Youtube icon to the XMB that would take you directly to the channel, a lot like the Google search.
Agreed. I don't believe that the market is quite ready to drop optical media and go to downloads. A lot of people like to have that disc in hand. That's not to say that technology like Apple TV isn't cool.
I agree with you that once the game releases all will be forgiven. I think people are still a bit upset at Square-Enix for dropping exclusivity.
And there was a 4 year gap between XI and XII.
Historically, console sales run flat in September. Things usually don't pick up until mid-October when holiday buying starts. So for all three consoles to be selling at the volumes they are is good for everyone.
