The demo was cool until the characters started talking.

I love that Dave Chappelle and Sammy J. are in it - but damn...where's the story? Where's the plot? Where's the dialogue? It's like playing a cartoon with the audio cut out, and all you can access is the DVD commentary.

I love the game engine, very intuitive...but once again devs think they can throw celebrities or cool graphics at a game and completely neglect the writing.

FAIL.

Found this around the site - Ballmer truly is nuttier than a squirrel tree. Which explains a LOT about Microsoft's doings these days...it wouldn't surprise me to see another CEO shakeup in the near future.

Gates probably wouldn't have made the mistake of extorting money from former employees. But this guy? I can almost see him drafting the memo to HR.

After all, art was meant to be appreciated; and entertainment certainly counts as appreciation.

I take severe exception to how this guy portrays the art community; especially since the best games employ pretty much the entire spectrum of artists to create a finished product.

Where would games be without artists to draw lush, detailed, far-reaching environments? Or writers to pen snappy, engaging dialogue and immersive storylines? Or voice actors to give life to t...

Nice gag article.

It feels hypocritical and stupid. How does a biased opinion trump a biased opinion? Dumbass.

EDGE obviously is a site well to your liking, and every other 360 fanboy, which tells me a great deal about THEIR biases.

I thought the BS Galactica case mod was pretty nifty.

6346d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

It isn't even released yet, and already they're making comments that cast aspersions on the quality of the finished product. Sabotaging their own game with negative PR...not terribly smart, is it?

Yeah, but the fee for a PS3 dev-kit is currently 10,000.
Even poor games tend to sell at least 100k, and compared to the millions spent in actual development of the game it's chump change.

And while some re-coding would have to be done to accommodate a new infrastructure, the game's already *there* - it just has to get tweaked. Look at Bioshock. If it's a good game, the potential sales far outweigh the minor overhauls and fees required.

Is it 'lost revenue' i...

Well, what media outlet is truly unbiased, when you get right down to it?

In any case, CNN and HipHopGamer (neither of which I pay any attention to) aren't the focus of this article - EDGE is. I only mentioned FOX News because they're so often connected with gaming (in a negative way) and are so comically ultra-right-wing that they refuse to even listen to the opinions of the people they interview.

I'm still wondering what the heck they're going to do with Trophies. And Trophy levels? What's the point of that? What do I get for being level 6? Nothing, apparently...

@ The gaming GOD:

Um...actually, advertising is the other reason (next to $$$). I can't see all these developers signing on to Home just because 'it's a great place to meet people'. Business is still business - it didn't turn into altruism when you weren't looking.

From what I've seen, it's fairly clear:

FOX News = biased media outlet/mouthpiece for the Republican Party
EDGE = biased media outlet/mouthpiece for Microsoft

It's an opinion. Feel free to dismiss it out of hand, but if it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, sounds like a duck...it's probably a duck.

I would, but I'm not sure forum rules would permit the necessary explicitness of my explanation... ^_^

PS3 FTW! Feel the power of the black obelisk...your petty white box has abandoned you...come to the dark side...

Just for the record: I would totally hit that. Busty half-dragon babe with four arms? Imagine how much fun that could be. No, really - go ahead and think it over for 5 minutes or so...nobody's looking. ^_^

@ AAACE5 & Silent Knight

Thanks guys - I'll check my facts more carefully next time. It was a while ago and my memory is fuzzy at best, so I probably should've Googled it before commenting.

Cheers for the corrections! (bubbles 4 u both)

..when I pointed out that Home reserved that kind of space. Now that we're talking about a game, suddenly 5gb is a 'massive' installation. I'll tell you what they told me: delete the game data (not your saves, just the install data that lets your PS3 reduce load times) from other games you don't play much anymore. You can always re-install them.

And if you're suffering, like me, from too many DLs and not enough space; switch out the drive on your PS3 with a bigger one (or just...

I was underwhelmed. I have RE4 - I kept it, enjoyed it and still play it occasionally, actually - but something about this demo just rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it's the ambient, spooky quality RE4 (and previous installments) had. It drew you into the game, and while it never precisely made you jump, it definitely left you wondering what might be lurking around the next corner. The puzzles added another dimension to gameplay, and I really LIKED the old briefcase full 'o i...

MS can't write cheques for everything. Everybody's getting hit by recession these days, and even mega-monster MS has had to make cutbacks.

And I wonder how much they ended up paying for FFXIII to take the 360 plunge...never mind GTA4 DLC, etc.

Mass Effect for PS3 - pretty much a given, considering their refusal to answer on the subject.

"See, we weren’t lying when we said we were going to make good on our word to you all.

We appreciate your patience while we make the final tweaks to ensure that all of this is smooth as can be. And we appreciate you diehards keeping the faith while the naysayers pretended like the Beta launch was the be-all, end-all of Home. No way, no how."

The HMV listing is there, all right; but EA's website lists it as only for 360 and PC - and certainly Valve's site doesn't say anything about it.

Methinks somebody either faked out HMV, or somebody at HMV is playing a joke.
