Basically: corporations follow the money.
If games with good stories and character development (games with 'soul' or 'heart') sell consistently better than cheap shooters...then that's what they'll make.
If there's a problem, it's with the consumers who fritter their dollars away on Zombie Nuke XIV. People are still too dazzled by the fact that games are in HD to notice that the plot's about as thin as watered-down gruel. ..Mostly.
Rather than read a boring editorial, I spent the time devising a new XMB!
A giant Triangle, Circle, Square, and Cross rotate around the screen, and they all have different stuff inside! Games are in the Cross section, Multimedia in the Square section, Settings in the Triangle, and Online options in the Circle.
Not only that, but they're all animated and high-definition! The sub-menus are fully customizable, and you can even attach a toaster to the USB port and us...
I've rediscovered the sound of one hand clapping...
Just some douche trolling for hits.
Rick rolled by the Japanese. It doesn't get any more shameful.
Microsoft was in talks with Sony about adding Blu-Ray as far back as March 2008. Go check the Financial Times archives, or Google "Microsoft says Sony" - it's the first hit.
My little re-enactment was nothing more than a sequential dramatization of the headlines resulting from that search, relating to what each game company was saying about the others in their press releases. I didn't just make it up.
I did a little Google research, and here's my conclusion about the Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo soap opera:
M: “Expect to see a price drop for the Sony PlayStation 3 within the next couple of months, we’re frankly surprised it’s taken this long. By the way, we beat their sales in March. ..And screw Blu-Ray! We're not using it. Sony is out of touch, and once Halo 3 comes out; we're going to win this console war."
N: "Yeah, but you and Sony have goofy controll...
Just because I smoke massive quantities of weed doesn't make Prototype any less entertaining (though I admit the storyline and character development suck ballz)!
On the contrary, I challenge anyone to smoke a big bowl and see if they don't have a blast playing this game. ^_^
Are you all insane? This game is amazing! And I play it on a PS3!
I have inFamous, too. Beat it on Good, playing through again on Evil.
And I have way more fun with Prototype. Sure, it has flaws. But that shouldn't get in the way of the fact that as a playable superhero, Alex Mercer is a LOT more fun to play than Cole.
I'll let Jim Sterling say it for me:
Once again Microsoft jumps the gun. I can't wait to see what they won't be releasing next.
They usually take the high road. I'd have told this prick exactly where he could stick it. Instead they opt for the "We're doing just fine, thanks" response.
Didn't even acknowledge him; though I thought they dropped a subtle hint when they said they enjoy strong partnershipS with developerS - plural. And notice how they mentioned their huge line of upcoming games?
Yeah. You ain't the only developer in town, Activision. Not even close.
I'd have been happier with your comment if you'd stayed on topic. But I have to say it - flashing money around is bad form no matter where you are. Especially during a global recession - just because you're online doesn't make it any less uncouth. We don't all have capital to invest, Mr. Stock Broker. O_o
Screw Activision.
The number of PSEye games released to date is abysmal. Nothing new has been produced for it since launch, and the existing offerings are bland, generic and unimpressive.
Besides, the Sixaxis offers a helluva lot more precision than waving my hands around like a goon.
I wish Sony success, and I'll be watching future developments with the PSWand, but I'm not holding my breath. Unless they get a strong fiscal response right off the bat, devs aren't going to make games...
..feeling his oats, the wanker.
Activision can drop off the face of the earth, for all I care. I guess a few fans would miss them, but it'd hardly be the bombshell everyone's making it out to be.
Personally, I couldn't give less of a crap about DJ Hero or yet another iteration of Fall of Doody. (oops, was that a typo? ..Nah.)
^^^^ What about zombie boobies? I know you took a good look at the nurses in Silent Hill...we all did...because there's nothing wrong with having gratuitous violence AND boobage. It's win-win! ^_^
..and tried to find a game that I've purchased recently or been remotely interested in.
No luck.
Gee, it'd be a real shame if they left. I wouldn't have Call of Duty XII to look forward to.
My goodness, this releasing of technology before it's properly developed is getting to be a bad habit for Microsoft. You'd think they'd learn.
A faked demo to boot! Inspiring, the lengths they'll go to for an edge on the market.
I'm sure Kojima-sama will halt all work on his newest masterpiece and do something completely different simply because some random gamer blog says he should.
The idea. o_O
