Any kind of anti-commercial satire is A-OK in my book.

I agree that this is business. But that's exactly what the Mob says when they contract out a hit on someone.

'Just' business? There's no 'just' about it. Business practices that turn a free citizen into a mining resource are dangerous in the extreme.

And one day in the not-too-distant future, you may find that out the hard way; when there's a two-way TV in every home that you aren't allowed to turn off - when interactive ads blot out the landscape, and you strug...

<facepalm>

They're specifying age recommendations based on keeping people *under* a certain age from playing them; e.g. just because a jigsaw puzzle says 'Ages 9-12' doesn't mean the manufacturer is implying that parents shouldn't be doing jigsaw puzzles. It's just a target demographic.

That's why it 'tops out' at 20...making age recommendations for people older than that would be downright ludicrous. What, are they going to say "Ages 17-99"? What ...

Yes, Redempteur; I know it's not an MMO. That's the problem. I just said it SHOULD be, since that would be far more entertaining - how many people are on WoW, do you suppose? It's just one man's opinion, naturally - but I notice I have as many agrees as you have disagrees.

And not only am I aware that it is profitable - I pointed it out myself as an answer to the people whose mantra is 'it's free!'.

To those who think that being forced to look at ads is no big dea...

I'm well aware Jim was parodying fanboyisms. What I object to is the hackneyed, predictable, and highly repetitive humor. This article lacks the depth of true satire - I got bored of reading halfway through. A rare miss; I usually enjoy his roasts. He looks like he enjoys his roasts too. (couldn't resist)

I agree, Kigmal, but what's good for them isn't necessarily good for us. Think about it: the President of the United States is mentioning a brand name in a public forum. Why an Xbox? Why not a Nintendo?

Come to think of it, wasn't there a lot of publicity about how the President had a special 'Secret-Service approved' Blackberry built?

And how is it that every time he gets a hankering for fast food, there's a video camera rolling?

I hope Barack is t...

I hate it when people say that. "It's free, quit complaining."

NOTHING in life is free. Except maybe air, until we find a way to tax it. Home is profitable or it wouldn't exist. And it profits in two ways - the Stores, which are stocked with virtual items that cost virtually nothing to make, but cost upwards of a buck per copy - and advertising revenue.

So no, it is NOT free. We're paying for it one way or the other. Or both. And those who complain h...

How about streamlining the load times, for a start? I've spent damn near 5 minutes just logging in, another 3 minutes downloading all the updates, and then about 10 minutes waiting for the images in the stores to load so I can see what I'm buying. And I have a high-speed connection! Oh, and clothes need to be previewed on my avatar - not some crappy little 4x4 'artist's rendition' box art.

Speaking of boxes, that's what it feels like to be walking around in Home. A transparen...

..because you read an article that somebody else read first. In fact, Jim Sterling probably read it at least once before he published it - so you're all guilty of reading a USED article.

Ok, I take it back. Jim obviously didn't read it before publishing.

Sony's already losing money on the regular PS3, and yet everyone seems to think they'd spend (and charge) more for a slim-line SKU? Why wouldn't they just put that $$ into development for the PS4?

Honestly, it isn't like the regular PS3 takes up THAT much space. What difference would an anorexic model make? Common sense, ppl - use it.

And across the forum, there's an article quoting Valve as looking for good PS3 coders.

Well...at least the site has the right name. There's obviously a wide variety of fools running around on there.

Good grief - must've hit a nerve. Of course this dude's out to lunch; but for that many comments to be deleted...wow. Some people take this stuff way too seriously.

Relax. Enjoy. Have fun, and laugh at all the silly nonsense and propa-crap that masquerades as news. The fortunes of a corporation are not inextricably bound up with your own, so don't take the potshots personally.

Call 'em when you see 'em, and move on.

..in any case, Jim Sterling already did this on Destructoid. Months ago. And it was a way more entertaining article. Find some new material, ALT-F4.

Yet another BS article about how one of the Big 3 is going to trump the other 2 in the next generation.

6 reasons why Sony should exit hardware?

Why not 6 reasons Microsoft should stop making software?
Or 6 reasons why Nintendo should stop making motion-controlled games?

Either of those would make about as much sense. Which is one reason why Industry Gamers should stop writing articles.
