Technically, BluRay does remove "functionality" as it limits games in the way of it's slow transfer rates. For these reasons game designers need to take extra care and use techniques including redundancy to get as much out of it as possible. In addition, many games REQUIRE and greatly benefit (read: need them to match the competition) relatively large installs. Though, being a console, ANY install is too much of an install.
About Vista. ...
I dunno. Half of me sees it as improvements but the other half sees it as more of a step away from realism.
Either way, I'm sure it'll be a great game. I had fun with Vegas despite the fact that it was completely unrealistic compared to the earlier games in the series.
I'd have to say this is all common sense. It's a little upsetting that "buy more RAM" is pretty much guaranteed to be the largest contributer to performance by a long shot.
Anti-spyware software isn't really necessary if you're careful about what you download and which websites you are visiting.
Anti-virus is a must have, but don't ever fall for the advertising around Norton, there are much better, FREE anti-virus services.
Ironically, runnin...
Every Mac owner will regret it, because viruses and spyware will slowly flood into the Apple operating systems.
Then there won't be a reason to spend $600 more on a Mac. Ironic? I think so.
He probably could have done better for much much less.... 8.8 system? He'll be dead before he finds something that can make use of that.
It is very true. Action games literally need to make the same 5 seconds of game play vary enough and be exiting enough to be done over thousands of times.
Bungie themselves talk about this fact, I think it's on the Halo 2 bonus disc.
I'm not even joking. And yes, it's disgusting and sad.
I can't be respectful about it. They're disgusting.
Microsoft should just never invest it's money in anything ever again...
The idea of MS buying Sony is a little far fetched. Sony is a very large corporation. Aside from that, looks like within a few generations if Microsoft plays their cards right they will be outdoing Sony when it comes to console hardware. Sony has stated that they want a 10 year cycle, and Microsoft wants a 5 year cycle. If a new console came out today, it would without a doubt be more powerful than the PS...
and news like this simply can't be a bad thing.
Can't we just all accept that Sony lied about the power behind the PS3 and it is likely that it will never be much more powerful than the 360?
It was the same story with the PS2. I feel like the only one who wants to see it to believe it, as of yet the PS3 has not blown away the competition.
They managed to get it to fit in a single slot, but damn is that block going to take up some space.
That's all I gotta say.
They're apparently quite expensive to produce.
I remember hearing a while ago that PS3 games were supposed to be $10 more than 360 games.
$600 Canadian down the street from my place for a laptop with the same processor, 2GB, 160gb drive, dvd-burner blah blah all the standards.
I can't stand how Apple screws people.
Wait wait... Innovation?
A friend of mine bought an Apple MacBook because she's admittedly shallow and liked how it looked. I opened her up to put in some upgrades because apple overcharges for everything ($170 to put in 2gb of RAM, $170 to put in a bigger hard drive (120gb) that...
I personally don't like Apple computers or ipods because they are overpriced and often offer less functionality than similar technology at a higher cost.
The macbook air looks ridiculous and I'm sure it has heat issues after seeing how Apple managed to massacre a MacBook.
Portals was my favourite game of 2007. So far my fav of 2008 is REZ HD :D
It's like LSD but without the addiction and life-ruining effects :D
But consider the fact that there is such a low software attach rate, it's likely that even as much as half of the PS3s out there are being used exclusively as bluray players.
The way it would work is pretty simple and ingenious. Because it extends the thumbstick it gives the point your thumb rests more travel, allowing you to be more precise and take more advantage of the analog with ease.
Interesting... I wouldn't mind trying it out.
People don't often put thought into exactly what it is a corporation does. Microsoft dabbles in many markets and in several of them they are near the top.
