It's the same both ways. You can't really point and say it's just the Sony fans.
That being said, I personally don't think installations is the direction I want to be going when it comes to console gaming, that is, unless the game is purchased and downloaded online. In which case, my console better come with a big-ass hard drive at no extra cost to me. None of this bull crap 2.5" 5400rpm junk, I want a 500GB 7200rpm beast if it has to come to that.
The fact t...
If you ask me, for a console that's a little bit inexcusable.
If what people have said is true, and it is a required install, what happens when this becomes more common? Now I need to invest in a larger hard drive or else every time I'm looking to play something newer or older laying around I'll have to go in, delete an install, install the new one, and do the same thing over again if I want to play the game I just uninstalled!
Honestly, I'm not looking for my conso...
BD-ROM IS slow. At least the PS3 drive for that matter. DVD-ROM is several times faster when it comes to data transfer.
Yes, PS3 games allow you (and sometimes require you) to install them to cut down on load times.
Yes, the BluRay drive was not incorporated to benefit games, but to watch and sell HD movies.
I find it a little ironic that Sony bragged about all the storage space on the BD-ROM, and now, due to it's limitations, they have to suck up more...
Those who disagree with you are ill-informed.
A BD-ROM has a much slower transfer rate than a DVD-ROM. If anyone cares to do their research, you will find I am correct.
Developers like Bethesta use data redundancy on the BD-ROM to ensure load times are minimized.
Everyone knew BD-ROM was much slower than DVD-ROM, that's why you even have the options to install games on the PS3, and that's why Sony really pushed for decent sized hard drives.
Another reason why a DVD-ROM would have been a better choice, but I guess you can't argue that if you enjoy the BluRay movies.
I mean, considering it only broke world record sales previously set by Halo 2.... I'm sure Microsoft recognizes their mistakes and will never make them again. Shame on them releasing a game in 640p. SHAME! How dare they sell well with that kind of low-end specification.
Anyways... I'd like to see the person who would prefer to play Crysis in 1920*1080 with the settings on medium instead of at 1024*640 with settings on very high.
Sorry guys, but a decent frame rate,...
And this is bringing me back. I just tried installing Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries the other day, but it won't run on my new PC and none of the existing "fixes" will apply to it.
Mechwarrior went downhill after 3 in a big way. This looks like it can be the series' saving grace. I hope the plug isn't pulled for copyrights.
haha.
"They're not even by his ear...."
Go back to when XP was born, see how many supporters it had. Now, you're looked at as crazy if you prefer windows 98 :P
Though Microsoft has had many problems, a many will be worked out soon enough. Nobody can say they know their strategic plans, and I'm tired of the argument that all the "higher-ups" are leaving the company. It is not uncommon in their business.
Windows XP was the same as Vista when it came out. I put windows 98 on a new PC because I didn't want XP a year after it's release. Once the service packs come out and software is written for the platform, Vista will be the ...
I'm happy to hear Valve is doing this. Sure it has the potential to make them more money, but it doesn't come at a cost to any developers. Indy developers have never really had this kind of support.
I still get the same "washed out colours" feeling from it.
We'll have to see how the game plays. The graphics are good enough that I won't complain, they just aren't anything that hasn't already been done.
People can't know they can have better quality without any more investment.... :P
I honestly could not tell you.
I never really considered the idea of ever having a PC with something other than Intel or AMD.
Get off our site.
They are much better is every department aside from graphics.
Rainbow Six Vegas is decent, better than GRAW atleast.
I refuse to put any more money into the tom clancy series before renting first.
GRAW and GRAW 2 are disgusting examples of dirty military shooter filth. I'd rather play SOCOM.
I didn't think any part of any KZ2 trailer was "spectacular". It had a few moments where the depth-of-field effect was really cool, and sure, the original CG trailer had a "neat-o" effect until you find out it's fake...
It looks pretty decent, but so does COD4. COD4 is nowhere near a technical achievement when it comes to graphics, it's boring and bland, and everything is one grey-brown washy colour. It doesn't look bad by any means, but keep in mind it was...
They'd have to screw up pretty bad to miss that mark :P
It's because Sony said games need 50gb of space this generation, and they want to defend that to the bitter end.
At least Sony will be ahead of the game next generation if they can get over their whole "10 year life cycle" bullcrap.
