It was one of my favourites on Xbox, I wish it was backwards compatible, but I much prefer the remake and sequel that Starbreeze has in the works.

I mean, judging from the novels and whatnot I'd give the chief a little more credit, but this was well written. I like the "wonders how he finds the brain power to inflate his lungs at regular intervals" part.

Much more efficient than XP and great for gaming, but no software is written without XP in mind, which doesn't allow newer games to take advantage of Vista and DirectX 10.

It sucks right now, give it a year or two and it'll be the new XP.

I agree whole-heartedly with Gorgon. More RAM is 90% of the time better than faster RAM, as long as they are somewhere in the same ballpark, or unless there are CPU limitations. It is definitely true, the XDR will be able to feed the Cell much faster than it requires in almost every case.

Sorry dude, Gorgon is correct. More RAM is better than faster RAM (when they are somewhat comparable, anyways.) In addition to the XDR having a 1:1 ratio with the Cells clock rate, you need to take into consideration any multipliers, and the memory latencies. A 1:1 ratio would be perfect in a no-latency world, but unfortunately, the RAM cannot process requests quickly enough for the CPU to have much benefit from a 1:1 ratio. In fact, many overclockers will tell you that ratios other than ...

I don't see the real reason why Windows limits the amount of memory available to an application.

SC barely gets above 1GB on my system and stops.

Without buying crackdown.

Fortunately, Crackdown turned out to be a great game. Regardless, this is nowhere near the same situation, you pay retail for a regular retail game and get a bonus out of it. If there are people who didn't see it that way, well, honestly, they're just hardcore fans with money to waste, or they didn't put much thought into buying a game they may not like.

How many people go along with the "if you don't like it, stfu and don't buy it."

Honestly, these are fans concerned with their purchases, and they should be heard. If Sony is the company half of you make it out to be they should be listening closely every time someone says "I think I'm paying too much for this..."

I've always loved RTS games in single player, or online with a friend on my team vs. an AI opponent.

I've never played a multiplayer RTS game without being outright destroyed in what I would describe as ways that completely throw the "strategy" and need for many units of several unique abilities right out the window. In one instance, upon the start of the game, the player created an air factor, started building bombers and had them fly around his base. By the time I h...

Microsoft re-writes it's entire operating system, and gets mediocre support from important manufacturers when it comes to drivers. Essentially, Microsoft, free of charge, gives these manufacturers a better tool set, and a more stable platform, and when they don't have enough time or manpower Microsoft is blamed for the craptacular drivers built by other hardware companies.

"The ability to upgrade the PS3 via firmware to keep it competitive with other stand-alone Blu-ray players is far more important than picture quality."

You are obviously not a videophile, there is no such thing as a trade off and balance of video quality to them... They're the guys that say "Who care's about other features? I spent $6000 on a TV and $500 on a player, make it look as good as possible!"

For the everyday person, I guess it is impor...

It's a technical demo.

6542d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

There is yet to be anything that can even compare to Crysis graphically in full retail games, people even trying to compare things like Killzone 2 don't have a clue, they are not even in the same league everything considered.

This demonstration in just that, it's a tech demo built to look nice.

6542d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Then, you are of course entitled to your own personal taste, but honestly, you don't have any merit when it comes to discussing graphical technology in that respect.

Genki - if we're speaking theoretically, a high-end gaming PC that costs roughly twice that of a PS3 is a little over twice as powerful. Sure, this can take advantage of the PS3 and look great, but there is nothing stopping PC demos from looking much better.

Does Sony pay these people? You talk about the PS3 like you're trying to sell it, as if every little accomplishment makes it this huge juggernaut of entertainment that nobody understands, YET IT WILL ONE DAY RULE ALL! MOUHAHAHAHAHA

and play b3yond? do you honestly go around in your actual life and use that phrase? not even salespeople say things that corny.

It is a tech demo, not a game demo. The phrase Demoscene says it all.
