That feels like Sony reacting to MS gobbling up publishers by making sure they have the FPS genre covered, whereas they could previously rely on 3rd parties to provide. They don't want to be at the mercy of the competition to provide big FPS titles. This is the state of the industry now. Who could have predicted? /s

I think it's much healthier when traditionally multi-platform 3rd party developers and publishers can be relied on to continue providing the content th...

MS got into the console manufacturing business trying to buy out Nintendo, but keep telling yourself they're just punching back. Like derek alluded to, despite their failure to actually come out on top any generation, they are not an underdog, nor are they being bullied, treated unfairly, or, in some other commenter's words, being treated like a "redheaded stepchild."

"Charging the publishers that support crossplay"

It seems you're referring to Playstation's Cross-Platform Revenue Share policy that compensates PS through royalties IF, in any given month, the share of the revenue PS receives falls below a threshold in relation to the percentage of total players represented by PS.

"not an xbox defender or anything like that. i got both. but i want competition. i guess you dont, so what does that make you? exactly"

Two days later, you still can't explain why anyone but an Xbox investor or fanboy should be happy about them buying yet another major 3rd party publisher. All you have is some weak sauce, flawed logic that reasons because competition is good, Xbox is entitled to be that competition, and even move...

Real actions: Xbox removed the option to purchase 12-month Gold subscriptions and publicly announced price hikes that, dependent on the option, cost double or more what the 12-month su...

That's what the stock market does because the stock market is reactive. Did we not learn this lesson from Game Stop?

You speak as if the PS COD audience is a hive acting in unison who will all shift over to Xbox or PC with no loss of customers in the transition. Television shows lose a...

Not to mention having to account for lost game sales from putting the catalog on Game Pass. There's only so far $10 - $15 subs, $1 deals, and conversion exploits will stretch. MS has enough money that they could conceivably continue to subsidize that if they're that committed to keeping the price low to grow GP, but it's not illogical to keep releasing to an existing audience when having that audience as potential consumers is a large contributor to the value of the acquired asset...

I told you we'll include the Kojima Productions comments. It's such a compelling narrative people will swallow it and an article can be posted on N4G as news without attributing the information to any source, named or anonymous.

"I wont care if they were made from ps studios or funded by them but they did the same now they pay"

Is that your super villain origin story? You have an interesting recollection of history. You conveniently omitted Xbox doing a lot of rubbing of its own.

SE did a timed exclusive deal with Xbox for Tomb Raider before it did one for FF7R with PS. Capcom did an exclusive deal with Xbox for Dead Rising 3 before it did a deal with PS for SFV.

In the past 15 years Naughty Dog created two new highly successful franchises that differed from the games they made prior to that period, including the popular Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter franchises that preceded them. They went from dropping hits with Crash and Jak to dropping hits with Uncharted and TLOU. You're trying to spin that into some "Sony too&qu...

Okay, Darth Vader. Then I suggest you invest in a mirror. You had all the opportunity to talk about this article in your OP, but you made not one, single, solitary mention of it. Also? It seems that's at the root of a lot of your takes, lately. You're falling for the old drug dealer trick of getting customers addicted by giving away the product for nothing or next to nothing — until they have the leverage to raise the price, dilute the product, or impose other conditions to scratch that itch after their customers become totally reliant on them.

Why are you trying to change the subject? Your comment that I replied was about the IGN article. Stop trying to deflect. Xbox had it's critics then like it has now. Granted the numbers were heightened, but they also had their shills who will spin and defend anything for Xbox, as they have their shills now.

Your argument is a regurgitation of talking points that have been made before to defend Xbox, including during the "DRM" fiasco. Waving away criticism as p...
