So IGN produced a shill article to put the pro Xbox spin on this acquisition? I'm shocked. /s
Yours is the same tired argument that gets regurgitated whenever Xbox does something unpopular or objectionable. It's the same argument people were trying to push to put a positive spin on Xbox's "DRM plans" leading into last gen, right down to the scared of change and "Sony will follow suit" talking points.
Here we go again with the apples to oranges arguments comparing acquiring a studio that worked on PS exclusives with buying up huge. established publishers precisely because of their catalog of major multi-platform titles. Sony bought Naughty Dog after working with them on multiple Crash Bandicoot games. Want to compare the games made by Naughty Dog before they started working with PS to after? Naughty Dog was acquired by PS AND built up. Notably, the purchase of Naughty Dog did not include t...
The console war was already to rest. Now the loser is trying to use their piggy bank to buy up the market they couldn't win.
Son, if you think a multinational corporation is spending $68.7 billion on a publisher acquisition to KEEP money in your pocket, I don't know what to tell you.
It is projection. You caught feelings and came to N4G to cry about using mute/block because the head of Xbox said it's not a free speech platform. That's not some user you threw a fit over complaining about toxicity to big daddy corp. That is big daddy corp telling you they're not going to put up with it and disabusing you of any misguided notion that freedom of speech applies to their platform. So what are you going to do about it? You going to keep trying to force a square peg i...
Or you could abide by the terms of service you agreed to so that you don't have to posture like you're the mature one, as if engaging in projection while throwing an tantrum on N4G is anything but you spilling your feelings in some other company's comment section because you know no amount of whining for people to "use mute/block" is going to deter "big daddy corp" from taking action against your account if you lack the maturity and discipline to act like a dec...
"Free speech isn't a universal right that extends to all things."
I agree. Where we diverge is on the reason so many pretend they don't understand that. I attribute to hypocrisy what you attribute to a lack of perspective.
Those "private messages" you're worried about being monitored and censored wouldn't happen to be your private thoughts on "the gays" would it?
I'm unwilling to extend the benefit of the doubt to believe this is a matter of people needing to put themselves in the shoes of the platform holder. It's all but guaranteed that to a person they have all worn those shoes and had a narrower definition of "free speech" when they objected to the time and place of the speech if not the speech itself. It's called hypocrisy.
Is your worldview so limited that you are incapable of nuance and can only define "this thing I don't like" as "this other thing I don't like"?
People are saying the differences in tracking and controllers won't allow for BC, but is that an insurmountable obstacle if PSVR2 tracking and controllers can't be used as a substitute for older games? The Move controllers are not native to PSVR. What would prevent enabling PSVR backward compatibility by using Move controllers with a camera hooked up to the PS5 for external tracking?
@DeadManMMX
I'm not understanding your point. I said 3 of the 4 generations. The 360 is the 1 out of 4 generations Xbox outsold PS in Xbox's home territory, and it was by less than 2 to 1, let alone the 10x lelo says is nothing to brag about.
By that logic, Xbox North American sales have been pitiful 3 of the 4 generations, since they've been outsold in their home territory.
"So why am I bringing this up? Well if you watched The Game Awards it seems that Lost Judgment was constantly pushed aside."
I don't expect better from an awards show that's shamelessly reliant on new reveal trailers for relevancy. The awards aren't the main course. They're an afterthought. I have little faith in them boosting something not already on the radar.
"I still find it funny that one of the best games on PS5 this year is made by Microsoft."
Of course you do.
"That’s the problem there is no data on way or the other. Plus your relying on people say so. But hey that seems to work with the woke crowd."
What are you talking about?
1) There is data. The data is what DJStotty is questioning. That doesn't mean there is no data.
2) "Relying on people say so" has been a method for collecting data long before "woke" was a thing, let alone before you became aware of th...
"You guys can keep saying this is paid and what about PSNow but Ive followed this industry closely for over 25yrs, when Sony does something great, we definitely hear about it from every corner of the gaming media. Sony has huge respect and following in this industry= well deserved BUT they still have to earn it every day like anybody else."
Oh, well, when you put it like that, that just gaslights away all of our own observations of the gaming industry and associat...
@darth
I know the new thing is to proclaim you've hurt someone's feelings and somehow equate that to a win whenever someone calls you on your crap, but try to be more original. If you're capable. While you're at it, attempt honesty for once, too. You were bashing PSN. It's clear from your comments, ranging from hyperbolic to outright false, and the way you presented them.
They're right there to be seen. Be real and own up to it. ...
"Brand new games make a HUGE impact on how much people think a service is 'worth' the money.
Just saying."
I'm not seeing how that presents a counterpoint to Lex's comment if that was the intent. The calculations are based on prices, not someone's arbitrary feeling of what the collection's are worth. The point you make about older games will be reflected in prices, especially effort is put in to lookup prices beyond the PS or MS st...
It amazes me people can still have takes like yours. This does the exact opposite of foster competition. This undermines competition. Why compete when you can buy major multi-platform publishers and the studios under them to deprive the competition of their library? Why should anyone but an Xbox investor or fanboy be happy for that? Yet, you wonder why people aren't rooting for Xbox.
Xbox defenders often act like it's toxic to want Xbox to fail out of the console g...
