A lot of the more appealing indie games out there seem to have a direct inspiration to unique games of an old era. This seems to mix eras from different points in the industry's history. Pretty awesome to think about actually.

Not a bad way of looking at it! I just thought it was clever graphic design. :P

That was kinda sorta my playthrough of Heavy Rain. Same ending mechanic, same drive to see different outcomes in the main plot. Wonder if this game will play out the same way...

I think that applies to almost any art form, especially video games. People love Metroid Prime, but some of the former members of Retro who designed that game said they thought it sucked. Go figure!

Given how story driven the game is, I'd be hard pressed to believe that the writing process was not like a film script. Must have had a lot of thought put into it if it supports that many different outcomes.

Thanks for the link! Bubble up for being helpful. I'll give this a read right now. :)

I hope we have a month like this each year! :D

Personal experience, inspired by favorite works and sometimes raw talent! :D

I'm glad this brought up all of the lousy DLC choices in this game. I remember that really burned up a lot of people and rightfully so. Capcom is one of the few developers who can really screw up a game without making its gameplay bad.

I will admit, adjusting from one screen to another when playing Mario Kart 8 is not as easy as it is in Mario Kart 7. My eyes need to take a moment to readjust and that's a precious instant I need to focus on the gameplay. Beyond all that, the gamepad has been nothing if not convenient for me. I would not say it is perfect or the big controller milestone that the Wii remote was, but I still like it a lot for what it does.

Only if they get some Japanese-centric games on the thing. If they convinced Sega to get a new Hatsune Miku game out for Wii U, that would probably help. Maybe a Tales Of game or other such Japanese franchises. I mean that stuff is working wonders for Vita, so Nintendo should follow that approach and get those kinds of games out there.

edit: Their own franchises could help, but some of them have more appeal in the west than in Japan.

Can't we have options to accommodate players seeking a challenge and people who don't want to have their butts kicked? Bravely Default's encounter slider was there to help adjust the game for those who needed it. Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion also had a difficulty slider that could be adjusted at anytime.

Since Rare made those, wouldn't that be the same as Retro making a shooter for Wii U? Man I hope they do a new Metroid game. :(

It's not any one underlying issue. If you say Wii U games don't sell just because of Nintendo fans or just because of gimped ports, then you're oversimplifying the issue here. Almost two years out, Wii U has a lower install base and most of that install base consists of families with children, and hardcore Nintendo fans. Many of these games are trying to appeal to the Xbox and Sony crowd, so there is a rift in who they are supposed to be marketed toward.

Pointing ...

I've played The Walking Dead Season 1 and all of what's available for Season 2 on Steam. If you want choices that significantly impact the story, there's that game. The overarching plot will be mostly the same, but my friends and I compared our stories and there are significant changes between us because of the choices we kept making. The Wolf Among Us has a little of that as well.

Mortal Kombat and GTA practically made their names off of controversy. So sometimes controversy can be incredibly helpful to your success and act as free advertising.

I like the cuteness and simplicity of it. It gives it a sort of humble appeal IMO.

Disney Infinity and ZombiU are not sequels, Lego City Undercover was the first original Lego game and so on. Every platform is riddled with sequels and that's not really a bad thing. When PS4 launched, many of its games were sequels as well. However Sony DID produce Knack and they advertised the indie title Octodad. Microsoft had Ryse and Titanfall, and that was it. Also sequels tend to make more money, so you will see many publishers do them if they continue to be successful. They're...
