I agree. The amount of time you devote to gaming doesn't make you hardcore IMO.

I think quite a few of the things you're looking for can be found in a very limited number of games. Half-Life 2 comes to mind.

I agree with you but sometimes it's better to give aid to those that aren't doing so well than to give it to those that are. The UK film industry used to be ranked very highly and since there are a lot of old people in our government I think they'd much rather do what they can to try and revive it.

You're right. It's taken years for the CoD series to get to where it is now. Hopefully some years down the line Uncharted will be too.
There's nothing stopping multiplats from being as good as the best PS3 exclusives when it comes to story-telling and gameplay.
The only way multiplats will reach PS3 exclusive visuals is if they make the game from the ground up for the PS3 and also for the 360 but that's just not feasable for a multiplat as you'd have to develop one game from the ground up twice.

The reason they look so similar is because it's probably a direct port of the 360 version with nothing extra added. The textures seem to be the same too.

Hang on a minute. I'm not the one who said that and normally I wouldn't add a HDTV into the console gaming equation as it's not a requirement to play console games. I would however add a monitor/HDTV to the PC equation as it's usually something you'd need as a PC gamer.

seems like you won't have too much trouble there. Pretty much the same setup as me except I have an old 7900GS and I'm looking to get a 5850 sometime soon but I might just wait to see how the nVidia cards turn out.
There are plenty of different moves to learn but TBH most of them aren't needed at all. The whole game can be completed by bashing the same buttons which is a shame and some of the normal enemies can be more difficult to beat when they're in groups than most bosses on normal.
I'm playing through it again on apocalyptic with the abyssal armor which is really great.
