It's simple Microsoft paid to up their game by a percentage point.
Realistically I have no idea, though off the top of my head maybe the rounding (up or down) has to do with the amount of reviews each game has. That or the programming script the calculates the average score is off.
My List would be completely different.
1. Dragon Age
2. Brutal Legend
3. Uncharted 2
4. Risen
5. Borderlands
Killzone universe definitly has the possibility to have a great story, but that goes the same with Gears of War.
After playing the demo last week, I can see Brutal Legend being my favorite game this year. Though that might easy change with massive amount of games coming out the next two months.
@Mr Logic - it sort of had a story, in my opinion the storyline was pretty generic just giving you enough story to explain where you were, sort of like Killzone 2 or Modern Warfare.
"No matter how much you fight, no matter how many people you cuss at online, there will never be a winner, because in my opinion, all consoles this generation have successfully funded their company’s, making them all winners."
Sorry but did you even read the review, they loved the game. Maybe not as much as other reviewers did but still it was a very positive review.
I love Joystiq and their snide comments, because they pretty much make fun of every news story.
According to the developer it was due to not getting the right publishing deal and they decided to wait in till next year to release it in North America.
Apparently the US version was delayed due to lack of a decent publishing deal. So the developer is waiting in till next year.
Though it doesn't really matter as the Xbox 360 version is still coming out in Europe on October 2nd and it's region-free.
I for one will be importing this game as I am a huge fan of WRPGS and the Gothic series which was done by the same developer as Risen.
Well apparently the Xbox 360 version is region-free. So I'll be importing the game in October, as I'm a huge fan of the Gothic series.
looks good,
Mass Effect is my choice
Good score, too bad I'm not a big fan of racing games or I would have definitely picked up the game as I had fun with the demo.
Not much of an online gamer, though I might download the demo for the co-op. Or just wait in till the full game is out. Haven't made up my mind yet.
If it's a single player demo I'll get it, if it's a multiplayer only demo I'll pass.
@WHW I guess you have been asleep for the last 4 years.
Well of course, developers are constantly finding new ways to improve their code and getting more out of a system.
Depending on how long this console cycle will last, it's likely we haven't seen anything yet.
I just played Mini Ninjas over the weekend (rental) and it really surprised me. The production values were amazing and the graphics were overall pretty good.
The game reminded me of Zelda, though more linear.
Interesting read about the pitfalls of having too much hype.
Personally I try not to get hyped by any game title, as I'd rather be pleasantly surprised then disappointed that the game didn't live up to my exceptions.
