I think the disparity sometimes comes from Sony say what they've sold to retail and VG Chartz logs retail store sales. Happy to be proven wrong though.

True, but most of those new studios wouldn't have the same financial muscle to put out AAA games. Most would fall into indie or AA development and we all know a lot of folk on here won't touch anything other than a AAA cos they "only buy quality" or whatever pish normally gets spouted.
Are you insinuating that Xbox is only getting this game because it's being put on Game Pass? That makes zero sense. I mean it's going on Game Pass because Xbox paid them to allow it but in no way does it mean it was skipping the platform.

Very likely to be lower sales on Xbox as it is the platform with the smaller user base, however I still think it would have done decent numbers off the back of the Nioh games.

There's probably a significant portion of high end PC gamers who won't buy either console so there's room to make more money for investment in future titles.
It's worth a look. I bought it last month and the combats quite good fun. Lots of content for an arcade style shooter as well.
At the end of the day they've done it to stop folk ripping the arse out of it and setting themselves up for years to come like others did with Game Pass. I understand why they've done it but the cards will still be usable later.

I wouldn't send that guy to the shops for a loaf of bread let alone give him millions to develop a game. Too many projects on the go recently, most appear to be mishandled, and I say that as someone who loved the majority of their stuff especially during the PS360 era.
