THere was a lot of hate for windows 8 from all possible users.
This shows that many people like windows 8.
In general Steam works really well with 8, and remember gabe newell said windows 8 would fail and steam would not be on win 8, and now look.
Win 8 makes up 1 fifth of steam which is still good, and im sure is more than the MAC OS numbers (Correct me if im wrong)?

PErsonally i like 8 better than 7 because its soo much less resource hungry, win 7 is...

@NewMonday - exactly.
I do agree Sony only has 2 profit making divisions, gaming (PS3/4 vita etc..) and Xperia phones.

The rest are failing horribly, but what does Sony have in those failing divisions?
Intellectual property, and we've all seen the madness around the lawsuits. So much are those IP's worth?
They could just put an auction out for the IP's im sure many companies would like them.

But seriously, Sony should sell ...

RAM is one of the first components to become 'obsolete' in the sense where it is easy to use all available resource.
Following RAM is usually GPU.
All game studios can do is compress things, but in this day and age 8Gb is a fair amount, on PC 8Gb will do fine running a game on a high setting.
8GB is perfectly fine, maybe in the years to come it will get harder but optimisation is key

DLC is a money maker, but it depends on a studio does it.
For me its about what the content offers, i agree with @DXtrxtez.
There is a Return on Investment, it keeps the game 'fresh' to an extent, it keeps a game relevant.

A perfect example how not to do DLC (GTA IV episodes), the episodes were good but the release date was too late and due to soo many people moving from GTA to COD:WaW, the lack of sales activated the clause on the contract with MS to ...

@PeaSfor LOL - you are correct sir.

But seriously though, I do like steam and the approach they want with the OS - but controller is complete trash.
The thing is, surely its just less hassle to get a PC that can run steam and pretty much most games right?
Yes you have to pay for OS if you decide windows, the only issue I generally have with Linux is support is a little slow due to the size of the team that supports it.
Windows in general is not better ...

THe only issue with buying certain accessories like this (licensed or not) if MS/Sony decide to pull the supported driver it uses - the device becomes useless.
Something similar happened with ps3/360

4544d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

yeah without OS..
BUT - surely there are more ways to make savings.
E.g get a cheaper case?
Is an optical drive really needed in this day and age?
The mobo - maybe not a SLI ready board? or a smaller board.
with limited hardware why not go down to a 500w PSU, will help drop price a little.

THe problem with trying to build a gaming pc at a very low cost, you have to compromise.
usually this means a low spec cpu, ram, HD etc..

@Hastune-Miku @Ju

Its not that, for the first few years the general difference will be very limited, when the generation gets a bit older and some ceiling limits start getting closer the PS4 can be optimised for a higher ceiling limit.
Whether the CPU's bandwidth is slightly higher is irrelevant, due to the PC like design.
For E.g a gaming spec PC (In general) will have a CPU running around 50-75% and the GPU might be 75-85% or something due to the graphic...

i personally prefer the xbox controller..
So I would get the xbone controller and stick it into a ps4.

Edit: What if Sony find a way to block this peripheral?

They are losing money on the Wii-u, the 3ds is offsetting that.
Read the report

4563d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

@weekev15..
did you read that report you clown?

YonY sales across all regions has dropped (page 6).

Yes a reasonable profit of which they omitted operational costs, but look at the graph its dropping again. the stock price was also at a similar height in august, its coming to the holiday season so maybe the 3ds will make it easier but the wii-u is not doing well (5 times less than expected).

Look at the page unit sales, the wii-u is s...

did you read the article.
They found 3 in total!

2 in a store, and 1 that was returned.

Hardly any stock, so sold out makes sense.
Im sure if these bloggers checked across many stores they would find a ps4 or 2

he also went on to say "100,000 signatures =/= 100,000 sales"
However any decent number above 40,000 in sales will be a good thing for nintendo.
They are losing money, they got the whole generation wrong, every decision made with the wiiu has failed.

Reggie is funny "
I'm paid to make sure that we're driving the business forward" LOOOL
Nintendo has been losing money faster than a waterfall drops water down a large cliff side.
Nintendo need every penny they can get and this clown wants to stop that.
Theres a reason why nintendo has not been doing so well recently, its because the decision makers include this guy

Im not a xbox hater, I actually spend more time on my xbox 360 that ps3 but its like the more he says xbox cloud compute makes is actually more useful.
It will have some improvement to games, but will not make a large difference that is noticeable.

this isnt really a hack.. Hes dumped the nand, the only time its 'hacked' is when the nand can be modified and put back into the console.

Removing the DRM would have made no difference to this, the DRM was related to games and this is related to the OS/ xbox itself.

These are two separate items that are being put together.
DRM would have needed to be authenticated by something, most likely a hashcheck md5- checksum (i reckon). That would be aut...

why do these blog posts think MS are celebrating anything?
I hope all these 'stay at home journalists' understand this is more long term that only day 1 right?

yeh...
This is sometimes what happens when people purchase a day one electronic item.
There are likely to be bugs, errors etc which have not been forseen.

It happens, as long as its not a RROD type error its ok.

MS need to get their act together.
